Israeli Ambassador Gilad Erdan brought a small shredding machine to the General Assembly podium on Friday (May 10), where he shredded multiple pages of the U.N. Charter during his address. Erdan stated that his act of protest was meant to reflect what he described as the Assembly's undermining of the Charter's principles, following its strong support for a Palestinian bid to achieve full U.N. membership.
