Hello from a fellow Canadian living in Los Angeles. My father is fromTopusko and my mom is from Slovakia. I love watching your videos when I get a little homesick bc you seem to get it right every time. I feel like you are family. Stay well. Xoxo
Just discovered your channel and I love all the videos I've watched so far. As a German exchange student living in Zagreb since September '20, I recognized many things but also learned something new about the Croatian culture. The video about the earthquake really got me. Although I was here and saw what happened in Sisak, Petrinja and surroundings on national media and from what Croatian friends with friends and relatives from there told me it was still shocking to watch and listen to the stories.
Thanks Pia! Glad you've enjoyed the videos :) Also, yes, it was shocking for us, too, to see the devastation after the earthquake. Really sad to see how much destruction it caused.
I'm glad someone actually cares about us, cuz our people literally don't give a damn and they don't care about anyone. Many would literally sell their soul, or kill their loved ones for money...
Love this video! I'm visiting Croatia soon, and I'm so so so looking forward to the bakeries. I'll probably end up trying everything in this video Edit: I tried most things from the video, and my absolute favorite was number 11 (the cheese sandwich on olive bread from Dubravica). I'm sad I only got it the one time! It was amazing.
I love your videos. I live in Greece and I see a lot of similar thngs here. Croatian bakery game is very strong, it seams to me that it is kind of our substitution for fast food stands or restaurants, cause there aren't so many of those. When I travel I miss it, even in west Europe you can't find bakeries on every corner like here and products are different but less practical, more fancy, and when I'm hungry I'm like I don't need your fancy stuff, just give me burek :) Štrudla sa sirom or burek sa sirom are my favs.

Greetings, being of Croatian descent, I did not know any of those pastries, probably because they are typical of bakeries. The ones that I do know are traditional to make at home in my family: Hrstule or kroštule, pršurate or Fritule, Pita od Jabuka (is similar to Strudkle od jabuke) and as a salty pastry the Soparnik. ¿Do you have any videos trying traditional homemade Croatian sweets and pastries?

@@RoyalCroatianTours omgggg, I just want a whole BOX of assorted donuts; I don't even care what kind 😅 and definitely some cinnamon buns too! I'm in Fažana; so beautiful here :)
Hey guys, interesting! Great idea for a video, as the bakeries are such a cornerstone to the local lifestyle, adding simplicity to daily activities, sustenance on the run, and is a 'get out of jail' card for parents who don't need to prepare snacks for kids in school. One of the GREAT perks to living in Croatia is that you can buy a pastry in a bakery and eat it in a cafe as you have your morning coffee! This just isn't allowed anywhere else in the world! The choices on offer are now quite impressive, so perhaps a follow up video for folks back in Canada is to do a shopwindow tour of some of the bakeries in town! And of course the cake shops, the traditional old Slastičarna vs the new trendy places..... but that's an entirely different story!
Yes!! I love that you can sit at a cafe with a bakery item you've picked up. It's amazing, and you're right - not many (or any) other countries I know would let you do the same. Good idea for the follow up video! There's so much to choose from, it would be fun for people to catch a glimpse of some more!
Every time people eat bacon, it reminds me of a pale white guy that has been too long in the sun and now everyone is having a go. Anti-bacon brigade ;-) Croatian pastries are definitely delicious, since lot of bakeries prepare them on the spot. I get the craving for Timmy’s maple glaze, since donuts in North America are more sugar-indulgent, which definitely hits the spot from time to time. In Canada, lot of Polish or Russian stores carry poppy-seed strudel and cakes. If you’re lucky to love close to one, it’s hard to resist them. Thanks for the upload.

Yes
no, they are krapfen
Whyh do you think it's a "copy" of German Berliner? And please explain to me what's "German Berliner" cause in Berlin and rest of Germany is called Pfannenkuchen.
It's not a copy and ours are the best ☺️
You are two very likable persons, but what I did not like in this video is the mess you made on the table. Could you not each have a plate in front of you when you sampled the food?
Burek is only with meat. Cheese is a hybrid between Burek and Sirnica
Tim Hortons is terrible now ! They keep making there products with cheaper and cheaper ingredients. We don’t go anymore. Family owned bakeries make better products !
My family back home says the same thing... so disappointing!!
