    When adding nutrients to a recirculating system how do you know which nutrients have been used up? Won't some of the nutrients be used faster than others? And how do you cut back on nitrogen in the solution?

    Granular is horrible for me as every single last box went to liquid on me inside the box. I never expected that.

    How do you start your water off with 0 E.C. so I know what i'm putting in it versus the pre-existing ions in the water before adding any nutrients? I'm not sure if i'm asking this question correctly.
    ie. I fill a tub with my home tap water. I let it sit for 24hr to remove chloride & etc. pH is 5.5. Would there be any ions already in this water?

      Probably negligible.. pH of 5.5 is pretty crazy out a tap though ??

      Don’t confuse chloride with chlorine. 2 separate things. You are allowing the chlorine to evaporate, which you can also install an air pump and remove in about an hour per 100 gallons. Fruiting plants specifically needs chloride in very small amounts to help transport potassium to the fruits. Lack of chloride will show up as a potassium deficiency such as uneven ripening. Also, if you’re concerned about your water you should be able to get a copy of water test from your supplier. It should be a public record if it’s city water. Or, have a water test done yourself. I have my own test done on source water and my nutrient mix every time I open a new bag of nutrients. Because, your ec will change with different sources of nutrients. I lost an entire crop because of 1 little change in my supplier’s formula. So, they changed took potassium chloride out and just upped the amount of potassium sulfate and potassium nitrate to get the appropriate amount of potassium for their mix 4-18-38. I was on vacation my employees were adding enough solution to get the right ec, 2.8-3.2, tomatoes and cucumber wouldn’t ripen evenly and deformed. Water test revealed to much of several nutrients but no chloride. Added potassium chloride back to get about 50. Ppm problem solved. E.c. Runs about 1.8 but, ppm of nutrients are correct.

    I have vermicast. In aquaponics, can I use vermicast? It won't affect my tilapia?

    Any suggested sources for these nutrients? I'm having a hard time finding them locally in bulk.

    The micronutrients are mixed with macronutrients, its just the calcium you need to keep separate

    Hydroponics nutrients? Do aquaponics systems also require these nutrients?

    • @NewAgrarian
      @NewAgrarian  Рік тому

      No, but aquaponics requires some nutrient supplements
