No..... he just got destroyed in blitz by magnus in the speed chess championship. His win in this tourney was very flukey and he was lost. The no increment rule is stupid otb.
Fav??magnus is 90% fav to win both events, alireza is 2 % fav to win, first let alireza win by skills instead of luck then we can increase 2% to 5% as he do not have experiences
It’s look like you didn’t watch the games in the video at all. He was lost every single match, and manage to win because of time scramble. But in classical game it would have been a 0/5
@@dragosbalan1738 it's been Naka and Carlsen as the only people at the top in the blitz events for over a decade. But since Carlsen is the GOAT we gotta give some props for Naka at least keeping it interesting in blitz.

Alireza confuses me I'm hoping he becomes world champion someday - until then his consistency is a question mark. He preforms at the highest level in most settings yet slacks in the most important tournaments.
It's not slacking, it's simply unimaginable pressure when it comes to performing in tournaments like Candidates.. It's not easy to have a mindset to withstand that. Magnus is one of the few who can.
I think he needs some big names behind him in tournaments like candidates. If like Gukesh he was back by someone like Anand, he would absolutely destroy the tournament
@@eternalblueboy Friouzja has been backed by Magnus. He even went to one of Magnus' world championship training camps. But I don't see how just having mentor can help. It's all about ability to handle pressure.
Honestly it's even simpler he was not focused on chess after reaching 2800, now he has said he is back fully focused on chess and paused the fashion phase and the results have been very good, at candidates he didn't focus early enough just like trying to cram for a test at last minute so it's no surprise
@@DanRaj-o8y Candidates is the most demanding chess tournament and experience in every aspect of it (mentally, technically, strategically and even physically) plays a big role. Arguably harder than the world championship itself (as said by Fabi). Not as simple is having "ability to handle pressure". Much more than that...
Hmm, really nice games, still feel that rapid is a bit shallow. MVLs knight sacrifice was findable in a slower game, and very beautiful. Alireza is an amazing player, it seems that Magnus also managed to make rapid more prominent in the chess world. I just hope we will still have classical chess in a few years time.
I'm not sure that Alieriza is the best out of the next generation. But I'm beginning to be convinced that he is currently the best player in the world to defend a World Chess Championship. Outside of Magnus, Hikaru, and Fabi. In other words, if he BECOMES the WCC, then he'll likely be able to hold on to the title. I literally have my doubts about every other player on the planet doing that outside of the 3 mentioned above.
Last game was extremely dodgy by him. MVL was just too timid to take advantage of it. He has been bluffing a lot against MVL and it has been working so far.
He was unstoppable in the Candidates. Also at the previous Candidates. But hey, the guy making the video firmly believed the K+N vs K+twoBs was an easy draw, and probably taught it to all his paying pupils. Red thumb.
24:46 I wonder how this game would have gone if Maxime played 6... Qb6! tying down the bishop to b2 and threatening f2. The only way to defend the f pawn is to play Nd1
Lol, NIhal didn't play a single move where the piece landed on its intended square. No arbiters ftw. Also, Firouzja sneakily gave Maxime overwhelming advantages - Unstoppable!
how about when one player reaches under 30 seconds (or so) they move the game online. It would be a hybrid form but a way to avoid these sloppy OTB scrambles with no increment.
Just a general suggestion to all the chess channels, can you please cover DIFFERENT games? Rather than watching the same damn game on 10 different channels, can we see some games of other players please. Svidler, mamedyrov, abdusattarov, maghsoodloo, and all the women players, you know they are playing too. It seems nobody is covering their games.
I love Alireza very much. But what I see here, is five lost positions, that he manage to win because of time scramble of the opponent. For me nothing has changed, if he continues to play like that, he will never be able to win the candidates. We will win the candidates if he learn how to make a draw, when he has a small disadvantage.
Bro... Just because he had a few good tournaments this year does not make him better. Magnus has been performing consistently for over a decade. Let Firouzja maintain this for 9 more years, then we can talk.

Such an interruption would take much away from the game. Hybrid tournaments are interesting potentially. Hybrid games not at all.
Having a 1s or 2s delay before the timer counts down would allow for time to move.
Actually punishing illegal moves would be better, though.
