- Sharon want's her own personalized lawnmower so I find an old scrap lawnmower from my stash and try to get it running first. It has a problem though, it has no spark so I investigate why it won't start.
I locate the fault and get it running and then strip it down. Enjoy.

Sharon is a doll! Gotta make momma happy!
Fantastic Martin you have got some work on there good luck 👍👍👍👍
Can't wait till part2, keeping me/us entertained while we are all staying at home with the virus. Great work Marty thank you sir. 👌👍
Thanks Ryan
Excellent work👍👍👍. Thanks for sharing. You know what they say Martin "Happy Wife Happy life. Give Sharon the chrome handle she wants. You can chop the handle to fit in the oven and then attach with a splice. You can do it
Looking forward to the remaining episode(s). I was enjoying that. From the colours Sharon chose, it sounds like she's hankering after a '55 Chevy Bel Air.
Thank you Martin! Can´t wait for the part II ! You guys joking around is the best thing in youtube!
Cheers bud.
Hope the mower turns out well. I hope Jimmy is sealing the roof after jet washing. Round our parts in Corby the wheelie bin cleaners took to jet washing roofs after their rounds, they returned them back to terracotta from the black soot and moss they used to wear. Next winter all the roofs leaked like sieves, moss is great at sealing tiles.
Martin, that motor sounds decent. She says it is "horrendous", I still think it's decent and has many more years to go before it is used up. I guess you are "KING" of all the mowers, eh? Looking forward to the next vid.
Thank you for another brill vid. I really look forward to watching them. Keep up the good work 👍
Martin so glad I found your channel. You are very good at explaining how to work on mowers. By the way Barney is trying to show you how to do it! He makes a great inspector!! Thank you for taking time to make these videos. Your friend across the pond.
Thanks Larry, glad you enjoy the vids bud.👍
Another great inspirational video ! Thanks, Martin ! 👍
Nice to see the vest is back.....I'm sure it inspires you
Martin great video so fascinating to see you strip down lawn mowers and get them working again could watch all day nice to see Sharon and Barney in video happy Easter to you all. 👌👍
Thanks Kev, you too bud
Great video Martin. Engine runs well and sounds good. Now jump to it and get those special colours sorted because Sharon has spoken lol.
Cheers, Jeff.
Its a strange combo Jeff but we'll see lol
Best lockdown channel going. Shows what a good clean does. Never stop learning.
Great vid as always Martin hope you and the family are keeping well 👍
Good video, and good diagnostic skills. I have just got my old mower out of the shed, and its got a old aspera LAV35 engine on it, mid to late 70's points ignition, and still runs well for 40+ years old
Nice one Alan
martin dont forget the mods like mobile phone holder, drink holder and wing mirrors lol.
Love your dog good day mate hope everyone is staying safe in your household
I hope you're all keeping safe Martin. Nice bit of fault finding there. Briggs call the weather vane a "pneumatic governor" which kind of makes sense!
Cheers John, Putting your engine jig to good use lol
Good one mate.. looks like you have your hands full.. love the colour choice.. Martin the mower god.. sounds about right
Haha, She does come out with some stuff Mick lol

FYI If you see the spider and it's pulsating in a corner DON'T let it bite you(or you'll develop spider senses).lol.
I might turn into Spiderman Barbara lol
@@retrorestore You're trim enough now to fit into the suit!
Loved it man roll on the next vlog👍🏼
Duck egg blue ,and cream ????!! Well if that's what Sharon wants fair enough it's definitely going to be unique !! 😀👍
Haha, Nothing to do with me Ash lol
I know,so it's not your fault if she doesn't like it ,it was her choice, you've got that on camera ! ,you always do a good job,so I'm sure it will look good ,(not quite your colour though) !!😆
And thanks for calling me Ash,my Mum always used to call me by my full name when she was telling me off when I was really young !!!!😆
Not a bad mower to choose as Dynamac mowers were made by Emak who are still producing mowers under the EFCO and Oleomac brands. Parts can still be picked up from their dealers.
Also I noticed you have Springer spaniel assistance when you work. I to have Springer spaniel assistance when I do things in my garage.
Yes Ben, he's always there in the way lol
Good work Martin be something different one of a kind 👍
Wow 21 years old! That’s gonna give the Italians a reputation to beat. At least it’s a Briggs, and not a Fiat engine.
Haha, they did rust in the 70's Jim lol
That metal is still from the time when metal was metal. These days the bloody metal starts to rust within a year of use. Crappppp!!!!!
Nice one Martin you've definitely got your work cut out there lol you can get the chrome effect spray paint off eBay keep up the great content 👍👍👍👍👍
Nice job
good going martin will be good to see when its don gary from crewe
Sharon cracks me up, you have the patience of a saint Martin 😂
Enjoyed the video Martin . I hope this doesn't sound insulting but it looks like you and Sharon have gotten into better shape. You two really look great. New workout regime?

Forgot all the lawn mower as soon as I seen the dog. Am sure you will sort it out.👍
Barney is the stat Ali lol
@@retrorestore i take it you mean star
Great video cant wait for the next part :)
If handle to big , why not cut them down so they fit in oven, then fit inner metal sleeve on reassembly. Chrome would look good.
This auld trick will send the purists banana's but a brilliant set of feeler gauges could be had from a packet of Rizla's :P The flap of the packet could be folded if need be but bloody brilliant for points, the little cardboard end piece was fairly good for some plugs and many a time stranded on me Vespa cos the points have shifted digging out me Rizla packet and making an instant and biodegradable feeler gauge. On the rallies we didn't use tools so much but always had some a) araldite b) cable ties, lots of c) a jiffy bag full of bulbs, control cables, bundles of wire, several rolls of insulation tape/duct tape, when my 1961 Vespa caught fire merrily at Lowestoft rally (was on the local news yay) after I put the fire out I set to work with my jiffy bag of goodies and despite being a little blistered and burnt, got me back home to South London abs no problems. Araldite, I repaired a holed piston using that and an old 2p coin and I just araldited the coin to the inside, layered on loads more and then filled the crown in, it weren't pretty and I stopped often to stop it melting but it did get me home and so I got cocky and was riding my Vespa around and the 2p came free with lots of hard chunks of araldite attached and it fairly destroyed the rotary pad and crank before catching between something and it went locked and me nearly over the handlebars.
Wow, the things we do Ian lol
hi martin another great vid just a question for you would a two part handle of another mower fit best wishes chris
That's a thought. I'll have to check.
Digital ohmmeters have their place Martin but for faultfinding on stuff like this an analogue meter is your friend...
Choose one that latches (like the old robin meters)..
This way you can latch it on, connect the prods/croks to whatever your looking for continuity on...and have a good tug at wires etc whilst looking at the meter to see if there's any deflection and if so how much it's pushing the range...
Psst:
You can use this method to test end to ends on ring finals as well if your suspecting r1, r2 or rN is high....
Just connect each leg at the board then go round rapping each point served with the back of your hand whilst someone watches the range...
When the needle starts jumping about you've found the front with the high joint behind it...
Did you like that...?
🇬🇧☺️
He was an electrician I think he knows.
@@benmakepeace5759
I know...
I'm an electrician...so I think I know too...
Are you an electrician...?
I like it Glenn but I know all about meters, I was a sparks for 30 years and a City and Guilds in Electronics too bud.
@@retrorestore
Ok Martin....
I know you're an electrician....
It was mainly for other viewers/readers...
I suppose you'll know Tony Cable...
Auld fart inni...
I've met him plenty of times...he's allrite...I suppose...
I like your videos Martin...🇬🇧☺️
@@glennmoreland6457 I dabble
Looking good! If I can just ask a quick question, I've acquired an old Hayter Harrier, with a classic B&S 35 engine. I've noticed it only has a single spring in the carb, connected to the governor flap. Should it also have the smaller spring on the carb? It does have a manual throttle cable linkage if that is relevant. Thanks
I think they should have the 2 springs on, even with the throttle control.
@@retrorestore Thanks Martin
great video cant wait for part 2 and do you still have the little mini moto and would you be getting it running
Yes I do Jake, that's another series of vids.
Don't forget the Pink fluffy Dice for the Lawnmower Sharon 🎲🎲
Happy Easter mate. Seems a lot quieter now all the RAF staff have buggered off to deliver PPE to the hospitals!! Do you think we will ever get to see Skegvegas again? I miss the fish and chips, the mobility scooters and the West Highland Terriers.
Haha, I'm sure we will Elliott lol
The 1st thing I do when I get a mower is to add a wire tie (a bit looser than you) and it stays there forever.
Supremely logical fault-finding Martin and I'm sure,if you get this job right son, you'll be "on the promise" with Sharon ! Just joking mate, don't take offence. Thanks for sharing.
Martin can you please do something in Chorme I would love to see what the chorme colour looks like thank you
got to put a pair of spectacles on the front ;)
Great video as usual, you're like a British version of mustie1 on UA-cam lol 🇬🇧🇬🇧
🤭
Great video Martin. What type of spark plug tester do you use?
its not branded bud, its just a cheap one
You are certainly keeping yourself busy these days.
I have one (unrelated) question: would you remember the name of the product your used to paint/stain bolts? I remember seeing it on one of your former videos, but forgot to write it down. I think it was something with the word 'blue' in it. Any pointers would be greatly appreciate it,
cheers
It was called Perma Blue
@@retrorestore thanks a lot Martin. I appreciate it
Well started ....
Hi is it safe to weld a metal plate on a briggs 35 classic with engine still in place. No fuel tank on.Mine has a big rust hole thanks
Its only 3 bolts to remove the engine. That's what I would do.
Hi Martin, recently got a lawnmower from my grandad. It’s a mountfield with this engine. When I went to collect it, it had be stored on its side. Air filter is full of oil, I’ve taken air filter off but it is still running extremely rough. Any suggestions on what I can do before I start buying parts as you say.
Cheers
Jack (Manchester)
Just let it stand the right way. Take the plug out and pull the starter cord to see if there's any oil in the bore and if it spits it out. Clean the plug, put some fresh fuel in it and try and start it. Make sure there is still oil in the engine before you try to start it. It will probably smoke at first till the oil burns off.
Make sure that pull cords long enough!!
they never forget lol
Martin, you can't complain about whatever color(S) she wants. I mean you did ask her a few times... So even if it turns out like a clown look, you asked her... lol
Biggest mistake in this video, asking “What would you like?”.
I’m 15 years old and last summer (2019) I repaired Briggs and Stratton 35 classic engines/lawnmowers and sold them, twice I’ve had a mower that would start perfectly but when you release the handle/break lever, it wouldn’t turn off. The engine would slow down slightly because of the little pad thing that touches the flywheel to slow it down but they showed no sign of stopping, it would eventually stop but I have no idea why, I can’t remember what I changed on them but I did fix one of them. Any ideas why they never stopped? Thanks 😊
hard to say without seeing it bud.
Interested lawnmower lol
By any chance do you have an old metal mower deck and wheels and grass bag ?
Kind Regards
Ocelot622
The British version of dynamark I take it
