Mark, you are doing wonderful reviews. I got this knife 1½ years ago, best value for the money. Actively using through the winter and summer condition, performing like charm. Stubborn little guy, holding edge, well build, tuff. Like you were saying great all-rounder. Keep up the great work.
Hi Mr Young! Just to add something to this video regarding game processing. I hunt a lot of rabbits on a family friend’s farm. Pest control. This knife is excellent for that purpose and even if it is slightly bigger than i prefer for this task. Excellent review as always!
@@MarkYoungBushcraft A quick question if i may, which one would you recommend for general purposes, so not necessarily bushcraft? The lynx seems that way to me, but no expert:) i have small/medium - medium sized hands. and thanks for the reviews! especially the no shouting and no overdramatic nonsense is refreshing
@@CyberBeep_kenshi Of the Joker knives I have tested so far I would say the Lynx best fits what you are looking for. Not strictly bushcraft or survival but can be used for both. Would be a great hunting knife or just a do-all knife around camp
@@MarkYoungBushcraft Thanks man, i had a feeling about this one. Saw the Nomad, but that's basically a sword in may hands 🤣 now to find out if its legal in the Netherlands hehe Cheers!
I just received my Joker Lynx in Bohler N695 and black/green micarta with red liners. Upon inspection I have to say, this thing is flawless. The tip is like a needle. The grinds are absolutely symmetrical to the eye and the thing is hair shaving sharp. The scales are matt finish and not slick; actually more of a satin finish and grippy. The jimping on the spine and butt are consistent and without burr. Blade engraving is fine, even, crisp and without blur. Zero gaps between the scales, liners and steel. I can't believe Joker is making this kind of quality for such a reasonable price. WOW. ETA: The kydex sheath is very well made and the fire steel matches the knife micarta.
question, what would be a good general use Joker? i am not really a bushcrafter (yet), but it's good to have a proper knife. It just oozes quality. Looks simple, until you look longer, many little details.
@@PileofBrass cheers. Looked upma shop innthe Netherlands, did mention a different steel, so i ll need to lookup some others. The price is surprisingly low imho. around 150 euro
@@MarkYoungBushcraft , You just sold me this knife, ordered today in the identical specification as Yours, waiting for Friday when it should arrive. Greetings from Poland!
I just pulled the trigger on a Lynx CM111-P Knife, Black Micarta Handle W/black leather Fire Starter Sheath . I"ve been wanting this knife for a couple of yrs now. It's almost a piece of art, for a knife guy and at a great price, compared to others W/same fit and Finish.
I can just imagine how great it would be to happen across you while exploring the great outdoors. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this knife. It may not be a super custom something or other but looks to be a great knife to have on my belt.
I have a few customs and from a functional point of view they are sized to my hands. Beyond that, these knives compare very well. Thanks for commenting
My first time watching your channel. As a fan of quality bushcraft video instruction on UA-cam, I must say, I'm very impressed with this episode. Very informative, great cadence of speech, engaging, and most pleasant to watch. I am a new fan of your channel (now subscribed)! I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts on Joker's Montanero knife. I just ordered one and am hoping I don't regret not getting the Lynx instead.
I don't have the Montenaro but would love to own one. It has a lot going for it. Ilike the full flat grind and blade profile. The handle has a simple old-school look to it. In many ways simple is better. I think you will love this knife, I am pretty sure I would. Hopefully, I will be able to get one to test. Thanks for commenting
finally decided to order, but it still has to be made, so gonna take a while lol. The distributor told me it really is mostly handmade. As you said, joker is like a best kept secret. Can't wait:) choose the kydex too, saw a video where the knife went through the leather sheath per accident, its a tad bit sharp😂
I been looking for a good all around camp knife and after watching this video I think the lynx fits the bill .. I have larger size hands as well and find it hard to find a good sized handle . I really enjoy your content and appreciate the unbiased opinions of the products . Keep them coming sir ..
Hi Mark, I’m new to your channel. I recently bought the same exact knife but with the orange Micarta handle, I was impressed with its construction but I wasn’t sure about the steel! However after seeing this video I don’t have any more doubts. My knives I usually always use are Mora knives.
Great overview and demonstrations of a really nice looking knife there Mark. As for Canadians and our units of measure, man oh man. We measure the heat in our house in Fahrenheit but when deciding what to wear outdoors it's Celsius. all of our tape measures are in feet and inches but we measure our golf shots in yards. Wondering about altitude, well that's meters of course. I could go on and on haha, we are truly amazing when it comes to how we measure stuff. Thank you Mark!
So true Steve. Canadians, especially those my age who started out learning Imperial then switched to metric, have a split personality on this stuff. Thanks for commenting
Interesting timing with your review, I am shopping for a joker knife for a couple of days now I have narrowed it down to the Campero and the bushcrafter flat grind. Now you giving me one extra option with the lynx and saber grind . The closest resemblance to a Kephart design. Thank you for such a great review .
Your retraction on the "needs thumb-scalloping on the handle" idea is sound for another reason too. If it HAD said features, (like a Benchmade Bushcrafter 162, say) it would have a far more difficult time in securely coupling with the Kydex sheath, IMO. I have the Lynx/Kydex combo in both orange and black and think Jose did a great job designing them!
Another excellent review, Mark. I have had the Lynx for the best part of a year now. A fine slicer and cutter, capable of a lot of tasks. Good for campers and probably for hunters, too. Yet it fails when it comes to woodcrafting which, imo is, along with the grind, due to the curved overall shape which distributes the energy applied to it in an odd and uncomfortable manner when whittling. For "pure" bushcraft, I would prefer the Ember or the Bushlore among the Joker knives.
Hi Mark yes I am jumping around a little bit but yes that is the manufacturer I was talking about I have a a couple of his knives and a really well done very nice more bushcrafting type that I got but it's worth a look
Definitely a good looking knife and sheath. I like the addition of the ferro rod. Mark, what are your thoughts on ceramic rods. I find it more convenient for sharpening my blades. I'm normally not using my knives in a way that damages the edges.✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦🤙👏👏👏
Actually, most of the time I use a ceramic rod and as strop to keep my knives sharp. I only use stones if I have let them get dull or chipped or rolled the edge. Thanks for commenting
G'day Mark, no debate here mate, probably mentioned before I have the Nomad, cant fault it !!!! and given more disposable income I'd have a Lynx and a couple more Jokers too. They've really hit the sweet spot for design, performance, materials, fit and finish and price. Incidentally, I did swap comments with designer Jose Sabater, some time back, a really nice bloke and no doubt in my mind he knows his stuff ..... well just look at the products, ..... they speak for themselves. @@MarkYoungBushcraft Look forward to it Mark. Btw; forgot to mention, to my memory you've always put in both imperial and metric specs. I'm old enough to do both, lol, so maybe I missed it if you haven't from time to time, but generally an unfair critique I'd say.

LOL... Yes, it is my mission to separate you from your money. I will check the links but I do find Joker's website a bit hard to navigate at the best of time. Thanks for commenting Jim
Really hard to beat joker. I don’t understand why anyone would buy some of those overpriced communist made knives when you can have hand made quality from a well known company. I really love kydex over leather. Don’t get me wrong I think leather looks amazing, but kydex is zero maintenance. Not to mention kydex is ambidextrous. Which might not be a big deal for some, of course for use lefties it’s amazing. Another great video
