everytime I listen to this it ascends me to heaven.
I lovethw paceof this. A hair slower than I am used to in some parts. There's a little more time to appreciate every note
7:31 That cellist gets it
it is not the 4 ballades of Brahms but concerto n° 1
@Emmanuel Avila Pianist it is not the 4 ballades of Brahms but the concerto n° 1
@@jean-paulyve.ind.l4299 It's actually not, it's Piano Concerto No. 2
His playing is very emotional that is wonderful!
Very good!
Simply wonderful!

Boy oh boy! It swings!
(It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing)
Superb, superb pianistul!🌹
Wow ...
I really wish we could hear the other movements as well
@ Christophe Eric : There is a link, in this window, to the full concert.
He is French (although Kantorow is a Russian name), born and educated in France!
@@sheilanovitz8578 A. Kantorow's family emigrated from Russia to France around 1900 !
Medici.
Cocorico !
When Brahms wrote to Clara to tell her about his second concerto he added: “and there will be a great pianist who will understand my thoughts and ideas as well as you do!...he did not include Robert’s name in the comment!😊
Beautiful interpretation and great video! Thank you.
Poor old Robert. He was in an insane asylum by then, after attempting suicide. Unfair to joke at his expense, no?
@@sheilanovitz8578 Hi; I did not mean to joke about Robert’s situation. Please do not misinterpret ; I admire his work. Take care.
It was composed in 1880s, Robert was long dead by then already lol..
@@Mohabpiano Hello; of course Robert was long gone, I did not mean to be sarcastic….Brahms had always had Robert and Clara on his mind ( complex relationship); we’ll forever cherish this beautiful and monumental concerto!. Take care.
Maravilhoso Alexandre Kantorow !
Alexandre méritait le Grand Prix.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Grandissimo pianista, Brahms perfetto intenso e maturo.
lol, what's with the clickbate style video title, medici? :D
why clickbait? It's the truth.
Hahahahahaha
@@helenamarie4337 it’s clickbait, not becuase it is lying, but because it sounds like it was writen like that to call your attention
Tchaikovsky did not like Brahms' music
Putin “vhat vent wrong “
Man sollte Brahms nicht vor dem 40. Lebensjahr dirigieren.
warum nicht? :(
I'm confused why a piece by Brahms is part of a Tchaikovsky competition. Am I missing something? Perhaps there aren't enough pieces for the piano?
A fittingly languorous tempo if anything!
That's funny, Ryan!

Brahms is crazy
Marco Quintero This is Brahms...!😊😂
@@andrewkennaugh1065 ohhh yeah is true haha sorry 😜😂
Way way better than that Liu pianist who won the Chopin 2021. Bravooo Alexander, Brahms is very difficult to interpreter, bravooo 🌹
I don’t think so. The recent ClassicalFM chose 30 young musicians under 30 and it placed Bruce Liu at No. 1 position, way ahead of Kantorow. DG signed on Bruce.
@@DellDreamer I liked Alexandre best, not saying Liu is a bad pianist, he has an excellent technique, his Chopin's piano concerto interpretation was not good at all, but I respect people's opinion, none of us has the same. Some prefer Liu, others García (me) other Aimi Kobayashi, so either way they are all great that I think, we all agree 👍. They also posted a list of the 25 BEST Pianists of All Times, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Argerich, Pires, Horowitz, don't remember anymore names. Do you think most people would agree with this list? Of course not, music is very subjective..
Beautiful delicacies and flourishes from Monsieur Kantorow who held his force with gusto and gave us some wonderful contrast but a statement of purpose and meaning. Russia has proven it has what it takes to make this competition the very best in the world. Support to Russia from Dublin Ireland against Ukrainian terror. 🇮🇪❤🇷🇺
Poor Tianxu An. He shouldve won the competition.
Where is he now, that 'poor' favourite of you? Kantorow is such a very delicate pianist.
Ridiculous! This is Andante at best, not Allegro ma non troppo! So stiff!!
omg it's too fast
Perfect although almost unattainable tempo.
no, Richter and Gilels were fast.
@@markito3311 Agreed. But speed isn't everything. It's Kanterow's melodic contrasts that I find impressive. Richter is sometimes too wooden for my taste.
allegro non troppo. I think it's quite fitting!
@@helenamarie4337 I agree.
Snooze fest 😴
Too self indulgent in the opening area. That is, until the long tutti
Rigged competition!
Pourquoi dîtes vous cela ?
Politics as usual. Her was not the best.
Kantorow so Boring player. This Brahms playing horrible. Kantorow The weakest Tchaikovsky Winner all Time. Peter Donohoe was Boring Donohoe hot The second prize
Politics ??? Kantorow is French not Russian
@@RaineriHakkarainen
The key points of Kantorow's playing are the details and the best rhythmic vitalness. No one plays a so vital fashion (except Sokolov, who uses more tempo rubato)
@@hvanngil9575 His father is Russian. Haven’t you heard the second prize winner, the Japanese guy’s performance?
@@DellDreamer his father Jean-Jacques Kantorow is born in the year 1945 in Cannes
I haven't even watched it yet it's already boring, ugh. Bring my champagne to celebrate the audacity he has to perform such bore. I wouldn't be surprised if this was in my baby cousins slumber playlist, distasteful.
This is one the best piano concertos ever written. I prefer the first one, but a lot of people praise the second
Looks like someone’s jealous of this guy
it seems that you don't have the musical background to appreciate the finesse and complexity of this piece. It doesn't matter, classical music is not meant to be appreciated by ignorant people.
Another “classical music is boring” gal, how quirky.
