Did you do the D.O.A remix with Joyner Lucas or the original?
It’s like you said, the chorus has jabs and you can tell In it’s delivery. It even has scream backing vocals. The melodic when they do it is such a stark difference that it’s easy to appreciate both for what they are but this pop punk approach threw a lot of ppl off from what I can tell. If the chorus were its own song it would be relatively heavy pop punk.
I think this is just one of those songs which needs multiple to listens to like it. I'm huge fan of I Prevail, that being said initially the chorus threw me off slightly too. But after I listened to it multiple times, it's become a fav!
