    Your anatomy is really on point, do you take photo reference or is it from scratch?

    • @WylieBeckert
      @WylieBeckert  7 років тому +58

      Photo reference, combined with the knowledge I've picked up in figure drawing. If you check out the tutorial at www.wyliebeckert.com/process, you can see some of the photos I used for reference.

    • @shark-e582
      @shark-e582 7 років тому +38

      Wooooh:O I really appreciate it when artists who know what they are doing take that extra time to make a tutorial out of their work and share it with the world. Because while I can get a lot from watching sped up process videos it's pretty much like learning to play the piano by ear, it may sound good but when you don't know why it does your learning with an invisible handicap:P
      So yeah, if you haven't gotten any appreciation lately, or even if you have, here's some more. Thank you, you rock, and I love your work!^o^

    • @SuperAussie999

      News flash: the vast majority of the illustrations you see in print or online is derived from reference. It's just childish to think that they arent.

    • @MrWTFgameplay
      @MrWTFgameplay 4 роки тому +2

      Wiijii Fidelity i think in the case of professional 50% of the time adapted from reference is a better phrasing, since sometimes people just make reference boards and pick whatever they like. I know this is what reference means in some cases but separating adapting from normal allows me to differentiate between methods.

      i think they taped it down by stretching the paper to prevent it from wrinkling. Or they prepped it first by saoking the paper and letting it dry. Not sure tho.

    how come the paper doesnt get any wrinkles or damage given how many layers of work its taking

    • @user-yx9xn2ub5f
      @user-yx9xn2ub5f 7 років тому +15

      KuMiis The paper is stretched beforehand, this invovles wetting the paper and attaching it to a board, as you can see with the black tape. This stops the paper from buckling much more than normal.

    • @KuMiis
      @KuMiis 7 років тому +1

      oh , thanks for the immediate reply. i ve just been taping my paper(hotpressed) without wetting it...it does help but doesn't completely negate the bumpy effect..

    • @user-yx9xn2ub5f
      @user-yx9xn2ub5f 7 років тому +9

      KuMiis No problem, I'm sure if you just search up watercolour paper stretching there will be some in depth tutorials, both video and step by step.
