Most people return to prison because they either don't change, or they try to change but have trouble doing so. There's no statistics that I'm aware of that measure recidivism rates (reoffenders) for inmate converts to Christianity. But, I can assure you of this.. if someone sincerely gives their heart to Christ, and follows his ways, their life of crime will be over. Their life will radically change for the better, and they'll be living their life for dignity and love.

Tex was ordered to do this in return for his part in Charlie shooting Bernard Crowe. Tex owed him a favor. Susan was excited to go because of having already witnessed the Hinman murder. Krenwinkel just wanted Charlie to love her and would do anything for his attention. Kasabian was Watson's lover at the time. The motive was to free Bobby to keep him from talking, and also to bail out Mary and Sandy, and to scare Melcher, and to frame the Panters. A quadruple motive.
