This is an awesome way to compare the two types of classrooms. Thank you so much. This is one of the best explanations of flipping the classroom.

Nice video on the flipped classroom. I can tell you are a teacher who students enjoy interacting with. The flipped classroom also allows teachers to form bonds with students faster as they interact with almost all the kids everyday.

I was just thinking about the teacher-student bond today and how I have many more conversations with my students now than I used to. Thanks for the insight!

Thanks for explaining the difference between the traditional vs. flipped classroom! The flipped classroom would be great for older students who have access to computers and the internet. I wish my teen could be in flipped classrooms as he'd LOVE the more hands-on rather than lecture approach to learning!

Hi there, fun video and very useful. I am going to lead a class for my colleagues on how to flip their lessons. I have been flipping off and on for a couple years, but really want to up my production values. What software are you using to make this video? I am basically using Explain Everything coupled with iMovie, but I love the fun little tweaks you have in here for adding interest and would like to make my videos better. Thanks for any help!

I'm a student from Spain and I'm learning to be a teacher, and that's what I want in my future class! That's the future of education, no more passives students!

yes! had a flipped chem class. it was the best! wish my physics prof. would consider using this approach.

Very informative. I'll be sharing with others. I'm in the process of flipping my classes and still working on buy in from various groups of people. Thank you!!

+Where is Bishop? You do have to work for the "buy in". It's a paradigm shift and, for some people, takes convincing. I would recommend you be sure to teach your students how to learn from educational videos. I have a video for that too: www.flippingphysics.com/how-to-learn.html

Thank you and great suggestion!!! I'm planning on utilizing students who have been successful thus far too!

Have you been to any flipped classroom conferences, FlipCon, etc.? Thoughts...

I've been to the past two years of FlipCon and it was definitely worth it. I even presented one year. www.flippingphysics.com/flipcon14.html

Thanks for sharing link. You have a great perspective on this strategy. I'm trying to get my district to help me attend this year in July.

By far one of the best example of a flipped class I have seen! I was wondering how long your videos or outside material that your students cover usually are?

Glad you enjoyed the video. I think I answer your question shortly after the 38 minute mark in this webinar: www.flippingphysics.com/aapt-flipping-webinar-2017.html

You are welcome. Good luck flipping your classes! Make sure you join the Flipped Learning Network (flippedclassroom.org) and start interacting with other flipping teachers in your subject area and grade.

I'm working on flipping my class for next school year. How much of a struggle was it for those kids who just do not do any work at home or who possibly do not have internet at home?

    • @thomaspalmerphysics
      @thomaspalmerphysics  6 років тому

Sorry. I don't monitor this UA-cam channel much. I have a much better one now. I would suggest you watch my webinar about flipping. flippingphysics.com/aapt-flipping-webinar-2017.html
I find that the typical kid who will not do work at home is more compelled to in a flipped class. And I have yet to have a student who does not have internet at home for an extended period of time.

Lazy students who don't want to think critically. They want a teacher to walk step by step with them to solve each problem instead of think about a method to solve it. But then again, I'm describing myself before I went to college and had a flipped physics class.

I doesn't really require multivariable calc.

really? I thought it did...well either way ive heard its much more rigorous than mechanics. My school only offers mechancis on block scheduling.

+Ryan Lenz Thanks. When I realized I had the videos to show the same content being taught traditionally and flipped, I knew I just had to make this video.
