I loved when Jim accused Jade of only doing all of the theorizing/figuring things out in order to "prove that he's the smartest person in town"
And Jade hit him with the "so what? if it gets us home, then so what?" - it proves that Jade actually is way smarter. His only focus is getting everyone the hell out of this place. He doesn't care how or by what means, or who likes/dislikes him, or thinks he's arrogant etc - he'll do whatever he has to do, and he knows nothing else matters
@@chelsealuchetti7112 Jade is Tony Stark in the cave in the first Iron Man movie. People get that he's smart- but they'll find out exactly how smart in time.
Jim seems jealous because Jim doesn't do much, I mean sure he worries about his family, and Jade doesn't have to deal with those things, but I still feel like Jim is jealous.
To me Jim's character progression is illogical. He himself is too smart to say something stupid like that. He is an ENGINEER ffs. He went from building a radio tower to this? Nah it makes zero sense

I am glad Boyd didn't allow them to believe it was Sara. They could have easily let her be the scapegoat.
I agree with this, but as of yet Boyd hasn't told anyone other than Donna. I still feel a mob will go after Sarah before the truth is known to everyone

The town ppl still believe it's Sara, and now they have put ideas in Acosta's mind too. I fear for Sara's life with the speed it takes them to "communicate" and clear up misunderstandings.

Julie's scene gave us SO MANY ANSWERS!
Now we know every time someone has had a seizure, they were also simultaneously interacting with a moment from the past/future.
- Ethan had a seizure early S1, after which he says he saw a lake, pictures of his family, screaming, and a spider.
- Sara also had many seizures S1 and never mentioned what happened but started to murder people because of them.
- Elgin had a seizure S2 right after stepping off the bus!
I have goosebumps thinking of all the possible interactions that may have happened! I love this show!!!
One thing that does puzzle me is are they in the future or what cause when Julie through that rope down she wasn't doomed to the dungeon until after Boyd came back with the worms right
@@RennaStarling maybe not. The fact she is one of the 3 tied up in the dungeon distinguishes her from the others, tough.
It's as if She is simultaneously tied in the dungeon and somewhere else at the same time since it happened.
Also : the dungeon is a place where the time shifting occurs : it is in ruin, Boyd lights a torch, hop, he is inside of it and it isn't destroyed and in ruins. Julie goes close to it : hop, she is inside.
The time shifting seems to be related with the place, not the seizures. Plus it wasn't really seizures like the ones experienced by Ethan and Sara. They were in a crisis state with white eyes.
But it's interesting tough. It could be a thing. But again. For this case, the dungeon ?! Obviously in two states, and 2 timelines at the same time. Ruins/not ruins. Julie Randall Marielle inside / comatose in their beds.
Juxtaposition of two timelines. Why ? I don't know.

If Boyd doesn't save Julie, Julie can't later go back in time and save Boyd by throwing the rope at him.
If Julie doesn't save Boyd, Boyd can't destroy the music box and save Julie.
If Boyd doesn't save Julie, Julie can't throw him the rope.

My theory: The roots that children’s hope went into isn’t the far away tree, it’s actually the tree in the road. Their hopes went in to the tree in the road to trap people in the town to help free them from the cursed town.

They are not communicating enough about their individual supernatural experiences. So much more could be revealed.

The various timelines intersecting there had my head spinning. Julie in the present tossing the rope down to Boyd in the past, then hearing her mom and Victor weeks or months ago. Time appears to be meaningless in that place
I took this as multiple points in time are visible from that creepy tunnel, particularly since her physical body was still outside. Almost like that tunnel is some kind of strange command center for From-ville
Cursed places generally don’t follow rules after all. That is all this is a curse for killing the 7 children

Love you man. Started getting into From this November, binged it not knowing that it is stil an ongoing show. Then came across your videos searching for things i missed in the episodes. Always excited to see your videos after watching an episode.
I Love how Father of the year Jim, mouths off at Jade. Stating he is protecting his family blah blah blah. Like what are you talking about Jimothy? You've literally JUST left Julie with Ethan AGAIN. and of course the Matthews kids are playing a game of F around and find out without parental supervision, because they just can't stay away from trouble.
It was great of Jade when Jim said this is a display of how smart you are, and just replied SO WHAT. he doesn't care about being the smartest anymore, he knows he is and is just trying to use that to do something productive, to help everyone and to get home. Thats some growth from our tech genius friend right there!

Jade was being a arrogant prick though. As "he is the " *only one* " that can fix it.
Also, Jim is trying to protect his family or Fromily. Isn't that the thing that we admire? That we admire Boyd for doing that?
But yeah, Jim was in Season 1 determined to fix everything. But after the final of S1, he just stopped doing this

Considering Ellis had two parents previously in the Military, he is very naive. He hasn't inherited any of the resourcefulness or the seeing the bigger picture or the ability to reason or plan ahead. He is quite emotional and Impulsive really.

When Jim told Tabitha that Thomas called him, I immediately remembered that Tabitha told Julie how Thomas died. It was because he was on the changing table, the phone rang and for a second they looked away and the baby fell.. So maybe I dont know, that is the connection with Thomas and the phone, lets see what the next episodes brings about that 😬

I guess I got the meaning of the Boy in White's story that he told Christopher! This is of course only my theory, but listen: Fromville is created by children's imaginations.
"The answers to the end are at the beginning". Remember how the show began? With the Jim, Tabitha, Julie and Ethan going on the that family trip. (Yes, I know it began with Boyd and the town, but the first scene of Mattews family is this one).
"It started with the children". Who's the child? Correct, it's Ethan. What does Ethan likes? Fantasy books with adventure stories.
"The people that the children trusted, actually ended up murdering them". This can be understood figuratively or literally. Figuratively - Ethan feels very bad ("de*d") because the people he trusted, his parents, are getting a divorce. And he does not want that.
"But not before those who loved them told them a story, and that story gave them hope". Julie tells him a story. That is literally the first scene with them. And in her story, the main character dies. But then Tabitha is giving him hope making story more positive by saying that monsters do not exist therefore they can't kill.
So my guess is that Ethan kinda creates a world in his head (or not really in his head) where his family is forced to stay together because, well, they can't escape. And so did other kids that were "killed" in similar circumstances. And different kinds of monsters and ghosts (vendigo kind of night monsters, kimono lady, etc) can be explained by Kids liking different kinds of stories.

I believe this, too. And that it started somewhat with Victor, or at least this cycle. It kept him a child forever, in its way.
@@heathertaylor8904 Actually Victor could be the child who's imagination created Fromville. We don't know yet what happened between Henry and Miranda, but there definitely was some sort of disagreement or maybe also divorce. Because she randomly took the kids and drove away one day. And maybe Victor was also upset and created this world.
One of my theories was that it was somewhat a children book too😅

I want someone to tell the new cop Boyd had to take out his own wife in front of his son after she hurt people and he found the talismans that help the team she might understand more
The whole point of the show is for us to jump to our own conclusions. That's what makes it interesting.
I believe that Martin IS Boyd the same way Miranda is Tabitha. That's how he knows Julie's name. Remember Boyd is a soldier and the tattoo on Martin showed he was a soldier too and the hallucination Jade had of the Confederate soldier was Boyd from a different cycle too.
Are you just going to casually suggest Boyd is a reincarnated Confederate soldier?

@blackthor5517 I think it's the other way around. The evil entity left an impression on Randal but that doesn't mean Martin is Randall.
It didn't make sense for Boyd and Ellis to leave Fatima in the shack alone. Her missing from Colony House would automatically make her a suspect. Plus how messed up was it that they left her out there all night with no blanket or supplies. Those creatures will surround the shack and taunt her even though there's a talisman hanging up.
It never went into the next day. She was only there for a little while, maybe an hour or so before Elgin came by.

I guarantee Julie isn’t going to talk about throwing that rope to Boyd until the end of next season . Because no one in this fucking town communicates !

She didn't see that it was Boyd she threw it to, and she'll be more concerned with seeing the disfigured man on the wall. So I can see her forgetting about the rope detail of that seizure episode.

just commented this on another video but the most recent episode had one of the kids say "anhkooey" slightly off and along with the time travel bit it made me think that what they are actually saying is "aunt julie". I think julie is the storyteller that eventually gives the children hope, echoing the very first scene of the series with her and Ethan in the RV.
After the cicada mosnter was weakened as a result of Boyd destroying the music box it possessed Fatima to give birth to a new vessel for itself. The kimono lady is 100% evil and trying to get the cicada monster back to its full power.
I did not foresee Elgin turning into Kathy Bates from Misery😮

I also think Victors sister is still alive, he hasn't remembered her ever dyeing and says in this episode that he could never find her when playing hide and seek because she was very good at hiding?
It seems they are setting up Acosta to be Eloise. What other reason could there be for not revealing her first name yet? No one else goes by their last name. Now that time shifting/travel/loops have been canonically introduced, there is no reason she couldn’t have been transported to the future or past in Camden, Maine (not on her intended timeline since she doesn’t look as old as Victor) and is now reappearing due to some reason to help her brother.

After thinking about it, I think Mariella, Randall, and Julie did astral projection when their eyes went white and we saw them being tortured in that dungeon, screaming.
I think the same thing happened this time with Julie. She probably astral projected to the dungeon and was able to physically interact with the environment. It explains the white eyes and seizure that happened in front of Ethan.

I believe elgin is trying to help fatima, it clearly pains him to do this to her. But he BELIEVES he's doing the best thing for her. Personally, I believe that, instead of becoming a monster to replace smiley, i think she's to give birth to him to bring him back, or at the very least replace him. How does this help fatima? She'll continued to be tortured until she complies.

I watched episode 8 on Paramout+ Canada. One curious detail is that the intro took place twice. So I wondered why there was a repetition. Was that an oversight or was it intentional? Was it a hint?
So I started thinking about the connections between the intro and the revelations we learnt in episode 8.
In this episode in particular, we learnt that the end lies in the beginning. Could this explain the name "From"? "From" because we have to go the beginning?
The Boy in White told Christopher that the kids were murdered in the dark by their loved ones. So it's about a parent-child relationship. If you listen to the title song, it's also about parents and children. There’s one major difference to the original version by Doris Day. Doris Day sings about a mother-daughter relationship. The Pixies, on the other hand, sing about a father-son relationship.
But who’s the son who asked his father and who will be asked by his children of his own? Is it about Martin? Or is it about Henry and Jim? Both had a difficult childhood with a father who was a drinker. Both therefore vowed to be a better father to their children. But both struggled to be a good father and husband and broke their promises.
The song is also about fate, which influences your life without you being able to influence it (“Whatever will be, will be”) because we can’t see into the future. Do we need to be saved from our fate by a saviour or chosen one? By Christopher or Jade?
And this is an eternal cycle. Children ask their parents. And when they grow up, they are asked by their children. And then the cycle starts all over again. That reminds me of season 1, when Tabitha was digging in the basement. When she went up the stairs, she suddenly found herself in the spiral staircase of the lighthouse. There were toys on the floor and the years were engraved on the steps. The same years as in the bottles? Is the spiral staircase and the engraved years a symbol for an eternal cycle? The toys on the floor symbol the children?
Speaking of the lighthouse. Today we learnt that the kids were murdered in the dark. A lighthouse brings light into the darkness and also provides guidance. Not only guidance for seafarers. It’s a typical symbol for guidance at all. The saviour or the chosen one must lead the children out of the darkness into the light?
The light of the lighthouse can be seen from great distances. Otherwise, the lighthouse keeper can also see things that are far away. Instead of “The future's not ours to see“, the light of the lighthouse provides the children a glimpse into their own future?
Is it about parents having to guide their children? To lead them out of the darkness and into the light? If you don't do that, are the children afraid for their future and so they will be figuratively murdered because they were betrayed and left alone by their loved ones? And the monsters in the darkness are the manifestation of their fears? And what’s about Tabitha’s nightmares as a child?
I am currently Binged watching these episodes this show is crazy good!!! How did I miss this? Well, I will rewatch all of this reviews when I am done and give my feedback and comments. I give this episode an 8 as well, I've noticed that the Fromville always replaces or gives the town something they didn't have. I think Acosta will replace Boyd as the Law and Order of the town. His decision to send Ellis and Fatima away will cause a loss of trust in the people. Plus, Donna warned him. I'm glad somebody put Jim in his place. Elgin got me shook. He woke up, and now he is kidnapping Fatima. What's up with Polaroid? I had one they either used a 10 pack or 20 pack of film. I think it has taken way more than that. Good Episode.
