There are technical inaccuracies in some of the things he teaches, including this one, unfortunately. Don’t get me wrong, I like him and I like what he’s doing, but some of the stuff on this channel is not quite conveying what’s really going on with accuracy. His description of why bright lights look white on a digital sensor in this video is not correct. It’s part of what’s going on, but not the biggest part.

That's not a trust issue, that's common sense. I didn't look either, and not because he said anything, but because very bright lights are painful and damaging to your eyes. Just because it's not damaging this time is irrelevant. ✌️🇦🇺

@@castleanthrax1833 common sense is that pure white in your screen wont hurt your eyes, you see white all the time, u also probably adjusted the brightness to be perfect unlike some ppl with max brightness

The info about the Bayer filter is mostly correct, but that’s not why this laser nor really bright lighting looks white in digital images. It looks white because it’s saturating the image sensor (under a group of the RGB filters) causing them to rail the ADC at a maximum value when the sensor is “read.” In other words-each pixel location on the sensor has gotten so much signal that it is no longer capable of reading it, and it peaks out at a maximum value. The color filter and original light color is no longer a factor if the red, blue and green photosites are all fully saturated.
Came here to say this. I think this is more likely to be due to saturation then inefficient filters. If it was because of the filters, the apparent size of the beam would be the spot size of the laser which is likely ~10 pixels. But you can see the apparent size is most of (if not) the entire array. So you can see that it’s affecting sensors where the light never landed.
