Buying WHOLE Beef Tenderloin or Already Prepared Beef Tenderloin Roast? What's Better Buy & Yield?

So this year i bought a whole Beef Tenderloin $24.99 per pound which weighed over 6 pounds. I was wonder if it was worth buying it this way or should i have bought it already cleaned, Trimmed and tied even though it was more money per pound and it weighs a lot less only 4 to 5 pounds.
