    PIP's are meant to mainly gather evidence to fire you down the road, especially when your boss does not like you as a worker or person. Get out before you have to check YES on the job application under Asked to Resign.

    After eight years in corporate America as a senior manager, i finally got put on a 90 Day PIP last month on a Friday even though i worked my butt off for a year and was burned out due to downsize on the new team and took the entire weekend (little sleep) to address the ridiculous and vague three bullet points on the PIP (time management, overtime hours permission etc.) which disregarded my achievements on difficult projects completed on time, budget and on schedule and focused on petty stuff), but contract was ended the following Monday. Once you get a PIP, resign immediately - HR uses a PIP to document your future firing and protect the company legally. In my opinion, a PIP is a fraud / scam. Thank you.

    I was placed on a PIP twice. In both cases, I ended up quitting the jobs before the end of the PIP period. In the first job, I had trainers who disliked me and didn’t bother training so the managers pin the blame on ME instead. In the second case, I had a micromanager boss with unreasonable expectations.

    My PIP gave me barely a month to complete all requirements while I was balancing my actual workload. One such requirement was basically “practice tests to improve my accuracy”. I noticed the same questions reappeared in the following tests and the correct answers were different, that’s when I knew something was up.

    Employed at current employer since May 2023. Received good evaluations and had ZERO issues until my new manager started. I have never met her in person as she resides in a different state. The very first interaction I had with her she told me how I was not meeting expectations, blah, blah.... She totally blindsided me. She then puts me on a coaching plan. I am in the top 5% of the ENTIRE company. Last week she puts me on a PIP with very vague and ridiculous items "late expense report", "does not use company language with client". But yet, I'm top of the entire company. It was very strange that I was put on this right after I told her I was pregnant. It's very degrading . I may seek counsel.

    Received a PIP yesterday that was unjust. I am within only 7 weeks of employment. The reason they gave is a complete falsity. I would like to seek legal counsel- is it worth it? I did not sign and resigned. I’m meeting with Human Resources for the second time today. Any input would be appreciated.

    My boss ( who was not even my past manager at the time), put me on a two week "PIP" without ever giving me one on one meetings before, just out of the blue basing his performance review on feedback from senior techs, despite the fact that in almost a year and a half I only had maybe 3 escalations from customers and not serious ones, and basing it all on an oral exam I had taken with two senior techs that were overlooking the exam performance. Now, whenever they asked me to be on pager duty, I would gladly do it, now per company policy because of my "low performance" I am not able to pursue other positions within the company.

    Our SVP implemented a PIP, rushing our HR to implement it. Haranguing our Internal HR to provide advice. She also didn't provide alternatives for transferring to other departments. We consulted HR lawyers and were told that her PIP (not HR's) program were arbitrary and its parameters were not defined around labor statutes. She was booted out of the company for spending millions.

    If the PIP time period is indefinite, or has no End Date. If this is the case, ask your supervisor to modify your PIP to include a clear time period, and end date. According to the Department of Human Resources Management (DHRM) Rule 477-10-2 (3) requires the following be included in a PIP:
    - Designated period of time for improvement (usually 30, 60, or 90 days)
    - Opportunity for remediation
    - Performance expectations
    - Closer supervision and regular feedback
    Ensure that weekly feedback meetings are scheduled and document any instances where your supervisor failed to keep said meetings as they are critical to your improvement.

    I was on one of these years ago at a previous company and it was a complete sham. I had a bad performance review because my manager disliked me and I worked on a very difficult product line, which meant I was extremely overworked and not effective due to engineering design issues with the product. I was basically drowning from having to do way more projects at one time than anyone could do effectively. When I started my PIP, it was supposed to last for 4 weeks. They kept indefinitely extending it for the next 6-8 months. Whenever my manager wrote reports on my PIP, she would gloss over my major accomplishments like completing difficult projects that save the company money, and focus only on any tiny indiscretion she could. Like not responding to an email promptly or being 5 minutes late to one meeting. In every instance I had a valid excuse like an urgent work matter such as broken equipment that I had to address. Also, I tried to have a very positive attitude throughout this whole process. It became clear to me that they weren’t looking for me to improve, but to document every tiny performance problem they could so they had a legal basis to fire me. So I quit. At my two companies since then I’ve only had excellent performance evaluations. The real problem was definitely with the manager and with the difficult work situation she put me in. At that point I decided that I would never put up with being on a PIP ever again. They really aren’t looking for you to prove yourself or improve. They’re looking to collect evidence to fire you, and there going to ignore any evidence that you’re improving by writing biased reports.

  • @joyphillips1821
    @joyphillips1821 3 роки тому +4

    They just don't want to say that their project deadlines depend on other people doing their work first before it gets to you. So if they are delayed so are you... but you are expected to hand in by the deadline. In my case, it was the night before and even then they left a little part of it out ( which I know now was intentional).

    Yes, when you have any indication that you've been targeted and put on a "coaching" plan or a PIP down the line. Identify what is your protected class and remind them you are protected class and they are biased or discriminatory. The scope of getting an attorney is to negotiate a severance and not to keep your job anymore because once your employer does it there is no going back. A severance is not guaranteed and unless you have an employment contract such as an executive with terms of severance, employers don't have to give you anything. Therefore, once you get to that stage engage an employment attorney with your case to "negotiate" a severance because they might give you nothing or 1 month's salary, but you can end up getting a full year of salary plus healthcare.

    • @samtx
      @samtx 8 місяців тому

      What is criteria for higher severance like full year, attorney is required to update pip?

    Lol I just got pipd for the first time and it was the most vague thing I’ve ever seen. They said I need to manage my time better. Which is the most subjective thing ever. I do maintenance for 3 medical office buildings that are all 45-50 min drives from each other and I am the only person. When I asked for examples of times where I didn’t manage my time well they could not give me an answer. Then they told me I also wasn’t getting bids from vendors fast enough 😂. I’ll be you anything it’s because I’m the only union employee in the entire company. I’ve also been told I’m too expensive multiple times

    I had a quesiton. If your put on a pip then pass the pip but are put back on one 6 months later for (bullshit reasons). It true it doesn't have to start over and it can start right where the last one left off? Or is that illegal? Because that's screaming this is a red flag sham that they are going off my last pip. As they did mention to me my first one would be on record for 6 months then on the 6month they put me back on it.

    • @ertl-lawyers
      @ertl-lawyers  Рік тому +1

      Generally, there is nothing "illegal" about "how" an employer implements a PIP (i.e. when it starts or restarts). Where employers run into trouble is when the PIP is not warranted in the first place, or else is flawed for some other reason, as I point out in my videos.
