- In this video we finish up the CRV by replacing the front brake pads and rotors. It also needs the front brake calipers replaced. Stick around for the next video as we take the vehicle down to get the alignment done and ship it down the road. -Enjoy!

I love that Eric O takes the time to actually read the comment box and take tips from the viewers. That valve stem trick was awesome! Definitely gonna remember that one for my future caliper replacements.
Kenneth White yeah I know isn't he awesome
Mike Holt I subscribe to about 20 channels and I see very very few creators actual respond to people's comments. They always give some bull shit response like,"I don't have time to read and respond to everyone's comments." My response is that your fans/subscribers make you money through views and advertising. How is it that you can use your subscribers for personal income but can't take 30 minutes a day to respond to 15% of the comments made?
What size bolt did he use for that valve stem trick?
“If I can do it, you can do it!” You just got yourself a subscriber. Will be using the knowledge you shared in this video this weekend to change out my GF rear brakes on her 2003 Honda CRV. Starting with the valve stems.
I did a rear brake job on my 2005 CR-V today and gained several really helpful tips from this video, including using the valve stem and only doing the half pumps when bleeding. I don't live in the rust belt and have never really used much grease in the past but my CR-V has been fairly squeaky so I followed your lead on where to apply it this time. So far so good!
Your grandmother seems to be pretty smart, especially about Auto Repair. Never get tired of the brake videos.
I so enjoy watching these pre-pandemic videos. A much more innocent time!! haha FUN!!
14:20. Defective brake clean can.
Now for the HOLY SHIP, BATMAN!!
That was a fantastic tip, with the valve stem and the banjo fitting!! WOW!!
Send that guy a SMA STICKER, or two!! Triple thumbs up!! But, I only have two thumbs, so I will be forced to recycle one of my thumbs, in an attempt to appear as tho I have three!! Mind freak that, Criss Angel!
I need to read the comment section more often, great valve stem stopper tip! You are really good at applying the lube Mr. O.
"A pin, a grinder, and a popcorn fart"? What? You're crackin' me up, Mr. O, but you're teaching me stuff! I never lubed my brake caliper pins in my life, but now I need to get in the zone to get some purple Permatex stuff! Thanks!
That golden caliper though!
“I’m living your dream” great woman right there
Nothing wrong with another brake vid...I just did my rear brakes yesterday, incorporating a lot of tips I've gleaned off of all the SMA brake videos I've watched. Thank you Mr. O!
Thanks for the great tips: valve stem on the banjo, and the spacer rag between the pads. Made the job much easier!
Good to know about the short pedal pumps on Hondas. Thanks for all the good info and great video.
Never gets old. Enjoy watching the work of a skilled craftsman. Thanks for the _all_ the videos!
That's a cool pre assembly tip. It's always so much easier to bench prep as much a possible
I've always installed the brake pad holder back on the steering knuckle and then installed the caliper over the pads. I've started to do it the other way because it saves some time. Nice work.
Yep, again showing that real life car repair isn't as glam as the actual TV shows. Again Eric with a quality brake job done right, at least the way I"d do it too.
That was a great set of videos on the Honda, brake job and wheel bearing videos never get old.Mrs.O is looking good as always. Thanks for sharing, bro!
I did mine by just removing calipers and then assemble everything and then just move the line from the old to the new. GOOD JOB!
It's not hypoallergenicly sealed, it's hermetically sealed, you know . . . to keep the hermetics out. Anyway keep on posting break jobs until we say quit. And -- Mrs. O cameos are priceless. Good video.
I dont know why but I love SMA brake job videos lol. And that rag trick blew my mind. Learned something new!
I love you talkin to us out of sight viewers. Waitin on the next SMA video with bait on my breath :-) Now off to see Ivan do Subaru head gaskets. Happy Spring :-)
I gotta say I dig your narrative style.
Excellent video!! Thanks for your detailed explanations and great audio/video quality! Please keep giving us DIY'ers your opinions on parts manufacturers.
Did my MIL's CR-V with my son yesterday. Wish I had seen this first.
Thanks for putting your skills out there.
A new character!
I think we're going to have to start naming them to keep track...
This one was clearly "Paulie" from down the shore...
What a great tip to plug the brake hose
Great job Eric and cool tip from a comment writer about TR418 plug for banjo bolt opening on brake hoses.
Excellent team work.
16:00 thanks for the info the brake bleed TSB, the video, and excellent work!
I was getting worried for a while there with the whole lack of brake cleaner and then he even said it's not needed!? I was worried for your mental health Eric. But you quickly recovered.
I'm still watching you buddy, you're on thin ice mister.
Eastwood makes little rubber spring clamp things as a kit of 4 or something for the whole dribbling banjo deal. They work pretty well.
Love your brake videos
Keep up the good work. Love the comedy & expertise!
Great video. Love Brake and rotor jobs. Good job, man!
I love the valve stem tip:)
Great video! Thanks for the help.
Your wifey is a trooper. She'll tolerate it all!
Hey watching you do brake jobs is a whole lot better than me doing brake jobs!
Yep stand up desk use lasts about 2 weeks ish, got 4 of them in the office that never get used after we HAD to have them.
Great Lessons
Great helpful tips.
Morning coffee with Eric O.
enjoyed video and learned along the way. thanks
Fantastic video!
Hello Eric and Mrs. O.... I'm enjoying the content of your videos so much I'd like to request 3 videos per day 6 days a week plus the 2 hour Wacky Wednesday.... and of course any lawn work at the ranch you'll be doing on out of shop hours. Your channel is rapidly becoming my favorite You Tube channel and I'm telling all my family and friends about it, so you may possibly be getting a Gold play button this year!! That's got to be worth a T shirt hasn't it? lol.... Keep up the great work, Oklahoma sure could use your skills here... and we don't have much rust at all!!
new parts on a vehicle aways look soo nice
dvddmc...even DORMAN parts look good when new!!
You did not just say that..... :O
Jake Austin... YES I DID!!
And I didn't get paid to say it, either.
Great video very helpful
That screw driver you hammered on pretty cool
great tips.
Never eva get tired of brake (or any video from the masterful Eric O') seems there is always a gradma tip in there somewhere!
Ever think of just mounting a camera or two on the wall and stream live shop activity, no sound of curse, I mean course.
Thanks for another 'bute of a video
Good brake job and also like that tip with a valve stem
Not my idea, I learned it from a viewer :)
South Main Auto Repair what specific size valve stem did you use? So I can ask for it by name at my tire shop. I need to buy one for my own use.
Good video Eric👍
I loved the intro, you got a good laugh out of me!
That was so spot on with the super strong New York accent, talking about how they got something in their tire and they know where it came from. That was hilarious,if you start charging people 50 Cents to use the air hose, you would not have to work anymore lol
Good tip bruh. 👌
Free tip Tuesday... On a Wednesday... On a video coming out on a Saturday morning.
LMAO you noticed that too did ya....Ya i thought it as worth a chuckle.
Great tip gracias
Great video Mr. And Ms.O, those rebuilt Pat's look good and new rotors and pads BUT good looks go by with age just saying.Keep those videos coming.
Eric, it finally hit me, you sound like Jay Leno when you talk.
I hate those clippy things, but that's a nice trick sir. Thanks Dr. O!
Cool video!!
I really like it when you use powerful tools. But keep your eyes safe ....!
Great video Mrs O. :) Eric, you did too. You didn't mention to make sure you use the correct caliper, bleeder always on top. :) Remember the Jeep video. They originally used the wrong side caliper.
One time I had a flat and found a roofing nail in my tire. Then my wife came home and her car had a roofing nail in the tire. Curious, I took a walk along the curve leading up to my street and picked up about 40 roofing nails scattered all over the street. I figured a roofing guy probably had them spill out of his truck as he went around the corned. Bet I saved a lot of other people from having to deal with flat tires.
AvE fan 🤘
j-d Lavoie vidjeo and aloominium..
I like that valve stem tip better than the board on the brake pedal - I always have to be mindful of staining, or ripping someone's seat, and killing the battery when I can't find the stupid fuse within my very short allotted time, lol. Anything that'll save me time, I'm all for! 👍
Big pimpin' with the GOLD brake caliper there! 🤑 😁
I might put an open 20" wheel on that side if it was mine just to show it off....
It would be mandatory to put a gang symbol in the center cap on that one! 😂
I've left the old caliper hanging from the strut/spring (still connected to the brake line,) and installed the new caliper. When ready, just zip off the old line, clean it up with new washers and re-install to the new caliper. Brake line is only disconnected for 10 seconds.
Thanks!
Reman cardones!!! ALMOST AS GOOD AS A USED DORMAN PART!!
I love that awesome video buddy!!! :)
Wonder if that same size (TR418) valve stem would be the right size to fit in a 2000 Accord banjo bolt. Great idea. No more pinching off the hose...
Awesome... thank you :)
Thanks for the video. I could not understand what u stuck in the banjo fitting for it to stop the brake fluid. From UK
I used reman Cardone calipers the other day for my Grand Caravan. They sleeved the bleed valve hole to a smaller size and blocked the hole with epoxy. Being my first ever caliper change it took me forever to figure out what happened. After drilling out their mess it bled normally.
love it
That was a great tip on using the long valve stem, you have some smart viewers. Vanessa is a good sport and yes, they always know where the screw came from. I just had my roof replaced and one of the workers said don't let the UPS man drive to close to the house or he'll get a flat tire. Should I have questioned his quality of work? :)
Great job Mr O! I still want to see you do a rear drum brake job like many of the Civics have.
I would also like to see you do a follow up on your Toyota truck of the Crown treatment now that spring is here.
Rear brake vid coming up... and Krown update will be after winter is gone for good!
South Main Auto Repair...SO, MID AUGUST???
Thank You Sir!
Should the rust on the banjo fitting be removed before putting on the new caliper?
this is nice
Great vid -- thanks. So we have a 2011 CRV AWD EX. I noticed what looks like some sort of hollow round-form gasket bulging out from the DS front rotor -- it's in a groove where the hub is cast onto the disk.
Any idea what this is?
great vid could you do a vid on the gm brake line replacement from start to finish please
No caps on the bleeders?
“They’re always a little different “..that’s the moment I click 👍
"Grandma, shes a very smart lady"
Is the never seize available in the UK? Us DIYers generally use copper grease. I've started to use normal lithium grease on the pins and white grease to prevent corrosion (we have the same problem here with salt on the roads in winter weather).
I always tap on the brake calipers with a hammer before bleeding them. I hear that it can break loose any bubbles that are clinging to the sides of the chamber & stuff. Hey, it can't hurt.
"Break clean isn't necessary" what kind of MONSTER...
What is the coating they put on the rotors, does it ever contaminate the pads
Man this Hondoo was a Hondon't.
Speaking of flat tires, my mother in law had a tire that was loosing air and my father in law (who was a builder) would say to her "what are you doing, cruisin' the job sites?"
Love the valve stem idea. Question; You didn't mention the use of any loctite on the caliper bracket. Was this an omission or was it not necessary for this install? John
Technically yeah you should use some however the rust holds ours in place pretty well :)
1st time seeing drag clips being installed on brakes.
10:33 ol’ meema’s a pretty smart lady 😊😊
Do you get the oil resdue off new rotors
hey good morning eric do you ever vacuum bleed ? and good tip with the tire valve!
Does all 4 wheels have to be off the the ground for the hub to spin free like that.I notice when my two front wheel is off the ground the dont spin free like that.
Eric great video....Mrs O looks amazing as always...I think the next time she on video you should do the slow motion with music ..she so deserves it....
Have you seen a 2015 cr v with only one rotor screw?
