- Searching for tarantulas in the wild is always a lot of fun! This time you'll see us looking for wild tarantulas in the tropics of Colombia, South America. The group of Pumpkin Patch Tarantulas from the genus Hapalopus is quite outstanding with several species mainly living in Colombia and Venezuela - despite the fact that most of these Hapalopus tarantula species are readily bred by tarantula enthusiast all over the world.
During this single day of exploring the surroundings for tarantulas in the wild we managed to find three different tarantula species - watch the video to learn more about them!

You guys deserve far more subscribers. May I suggest that you push your marketing activities to get your name out there? If Exotics Lair can get millions of subscribers then so can you!
the best marketing are people like you, enjoying our content and organically share our videos in discussions, Facebook groups and other platforms with others :) would really appreciate your support and help in that! thanks Ken
I agree ❤️
For sure. Strongly agree
I can do without the Damn commercials
which commercials? we dont sell anything and are not affiliated with any commercials
You said oddly colored … I was not expecting you to say blue😂. I would love to see that video for sure!
Considering the dwarf you showed has no urticating hairs, is there stronger venom that comes along with the inclination to strike too?
well it's oddly colored for a Hapalopus with that tint of blue for sure :-P Thanks! Regarding the venom, this is not investigated yet but we have project ideas in that realm
@@birdspiders somehow I was expecting reds or coppers. Something more in line to what I think of when I think of Hapalopus. Blue in any shade on a tarantula is exciting. I look forward to seeing it.
The footage on this one was stunning! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Desafortunadamente, europeos y gringos extraen ilegalmente de su hábitat a estas arañas para hacerlas un negocio
Dini Stimm isch so beruhigend :) absolut min lieblings Channel was Vogelspinne ahgoht!
Yes, I'd love to see the blue coloured Hapalopus. It would be a good video :)
What percentage of your tarantula finds are roadside?
it depends on the mission of the trip - roadside searches are easy and fast, you can stop 20 times a day at different places easily. When you go somewhere specific, you cant switch location that fast so you are stuck there. Makes sense?
Last one has potential to be kept communally 😅
yeah as much communally as H. incei :) They are not true communal tarantulas like M. balfouri or Poecilotheria - they just live in each on their own burrow in a close distance.
Miss the podcast and videos
cheers Greg!
can you please check the species in the philippines we have some gorgeous sp. like philippine orange tarantula and the ornithoctoninae sp. here in the philippines thanks if you notice it hope you visit philippines.
Wow stunning marking on that carapace! Definitely want to see the orange and blue one, so cool
Your videos are amazing! They are so informative. I have four slings of Hapalopus sp guerilla, its pretty hard to find any info about this species on the web, do you know anything?
thank you Johan. I heard they can be kept as other Hapalopus, might cover something on them in the future
@@birdspiders yeah I figured, so i keep them like that, do you have any of this species? What differs them from typical Hapalopus?
@@johannoren2787 actually I have some very small ones since last week and fun fact, the colorful Hapalopus I talk about in this video appears to be the same/similar species as "sp. guerilla". so I might talk about them in the future since we also saw them in the wild, atleast one specimen =)
@@birdspiders very cool, that would be awesome, fingers crossed.:)
I want to see that orange and blue pumpkin patch!!
Definitely need to see orange and blue!!!!!
