I loved the 90s cartoon... as an ADULT! I also liked the later incarnations. His action-related superpower was both subtle (from outside observation) and a totally cool idea... it's like having plot armor without having plot armor.
Watched both cartoons when I was a kid, from the 1990s and 2000s. Action Man is still my favourite childhood hero. I also have the original Hasbro action figures.
yes, for those asking,. Action man was the international (legal and licensed) release of the 1966 version of GI Joe- no it was not a rip off as Hasbro got their cash for it. The iconic Action Man scar is what ties most reboots/versions to the original world war 2 doll. I'm of the belief that a WW2 doll might not play well into European patriotism if they had to play with a GI Joe doll, hence the rebranding. If you have a friend or relative from the UK who is a senior citizen, they may be able to tell you, with some fondness, about the WW2 doll. The change to the male version of a barbie doll in his post war rebranding was pretty interesting, I think he was a soccer player among other professions. This video finally gets to the origin at the 20 minute mark
You forgot to mention the spin-off movie trilogy after the 2000 animated series plus the awesome 2005-2007 reboot Action Man: A.T.O.M.- Alpha Teens on Machines series!!!
Good job with the video! However, there are a number of undressed issues regarding Action Man. First, is Action Man connected to the other animated story ATOM (Alpha Teens On Machines)? Second, was there an eighties G. I. Joe animated crossover episode where Lady Jaye was dating Action Man while fighting Cobra? Third, is it possible to combine all the different versions of Action Man leading up to IDW character Ian Noble for a live action movie or TV show? Fourth, which version of Action Man should be brought to a live action movie or TV show if only one version can be used, and what actor or actors should be Action Man? Fifth, if the rumors are true about IDW losing Hasbro IPs on characters like Action Man, will the story of Ian Noble count in new continuities? Lastly, is Action Man more like Kingsman's Eggsy or MI-6's James Bond?
Same. I did like reboot too, but that paled far in comparison to the 90s cartoon. It's cool that it was based upon a corny UK GI Joe clone. It's awesome when something is seeded in crap but grows into greatness.
@@That80sGuy1972 Yeah, the idea was rather generic but surprised me and was a cool cartoon for sure. Of course Reboot was cool too but out of all the 3D CGI looking shows nothing beat Beast Wars, that show was amazing lol
@@MKF30 The only thing I liked about Beast Wars were the CGI graphics. The story base made me go "meh..." I still watched it as mind candy. I just wished they made Optimus the big-truck version of an animal, like an Elephant... not an overgrown monkey.
@@That80sGuy1972 Oh well yeah that's the thing about BW, those transformers are evolved but smaller and the descendants of the original Transformers(from the 80's) the Maximals are the descendants of the Autobots and the Predacons are the descendants from the Decepticons. That's why you see Optimus Primal as an ape, and not a truck he's his descendant but not Prime himself. I loved the concept how they went back in time and the Predaton leader Megatron(descendant of the original Megatron) tries to destroy Optimus Prime to avoid their dark future in the war against the autobots lol at one point but it fails as the Maximals prevented that fate, and had to repaid Optimus Prime while he was in statsis lock. That was all Season 3 not sure if you got that far but they do show the original Transformers well some of them namely Prime and the original Megatron.
@@MKF30 Oh, I understood the story. I'm not saying I hated it. I was just "meh" about it, while I loved the CGI. I might have liked it better if Prime's beast form was an Elephant... being big, except for Rhotdomus Prime, was a thing the Primes just were. They were the original titans of the autobots. I was also probably older than you when it came on TV. I was born in 1972. That and my being a lover of Transformers since my pre-teen years is probably why I don't love them like you do.
All this classical gems, are one of many things I’ll like to implement into that so called REVAMP of DC’s New 52, with Capcom/DC/Shonen in which I’m planning to name ‘The New 53.’ Simply put, that ‘Action Man’ would be my interpretation of Rico Rodriguez from the Just Cause series.
Action Man was my childhood, man. I had no idea that Action Man and G.I. Joe were linked when I was a kid and I was amazed to find there was such a divergence later on in life. No mention of Action Man ATOM though? :P
You should have mentioned that Action Man was created as a british version of the original Gi Joe action figure and action force was the UK name for Gi Joe
I love both versions of the series. I have the first version on legit DVD. But I would love to see the second version also put on DVD preferably legitimately but I'm willing to accept a well-made bootleg set.
The first time I've ever heard of Action Man was from a really cool video game back on the PS2. The next time I think I heard it from a Tintin cartoon episode.
I sure hope Paramount Pictures,Skydance Media,Platinum Dunes and Bosque Ranch Productions would do a live-action movie adaptation of Action Man and add in the style of the Mission Impossible movies and the xXx movies.
Action man was a toyline first and foremost. They are not gonna reboot any kind of show without toys on the market, but i just dont think they are willing to take the risk seeing as kids today mostly just do phone stuff…
First time I saw this show, I could smell saban entertainment in there somewhere. To no surprise, the theme song! My god, people at saban whether its shuki levi or ron wasserman, they make the most memorable theme songs for the wierdest shows out there. Thwy are the go to guys if you want a theme song. Infact, thats all sabans good at, their shows suck anyways 😂😂😂😂

I grew up early 2000s action man was life ahah
I love this coverage of Action man. This was needed.
You forgot to mention the spin-off movie trilogy after the 2000 animated series plus the awesome 2005-2007 reboot Action Man: A.T.O.M.- Alpha Teens on Machines series!!!
So many memories when I had Action Man action figure!
I think the cartoon show series of (ACTION MAN) deserves to get rebooted for this era to see.
Action Man! you should so Max Steel next.
This show was awesome.
Does anyone remember Max Steel?
Yeah i thought they were connected when i was young
@@MrDp115 Same here
oh yeah. Aka George McGrath
I always loved Gangreen, he was such a cool (and chewable) villain
Yes yes and fn yes. Finally someone mentions this show! Watched it back a couple months ago. Amazing shit
I used to watch the show on UPN.
The CGI animated series.
Touche, the cgi version is the only version of this franchise I've seen. UPN wow there is a channel not seen in almost 20 years. AMP IT UP!
I remember watching this back in the day great show 😎😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
This cartoon needs a remake
We really need a new action man series at some point who's with me?
I remember this show watching as a kid
this is almost exactly like Captain Action!
black haired blue suited spy fights an evil grotesque doctor. almost identical!
I had the action figure when I was a kid. Hands down, the USA Action Xtreme Team version is way better than the Fox Kids one.

Goold days😍love the episode of action man/max steel
You should do a video coverage of the action man characters. Like Poole, Knuck, Red Wolf, Terrance Salmons etc

This feels so familiar yet I have no idea why maybe I saw a couple of episodes of the CGI series.
Check it out. Dial it in. Amp it up!
In my country we got to know about him through Action figures......
I never heard of action man before.
I sure hope Paramount Pictures,Skydance Media,Platinum Dunes and Bosque Ranch Productions would do a live-action movie adaptation of Action Man and add in the style of the Mission Impossible movies and the xXx movies.
wow that actually sounds like a good idea
I do know action man made a comeback in the comics to crossover with transformers and gi joe.
I had the pc game, It was very addictive to my young brain 😄
Any connection to the dolls produced in the 60s?
Hope they action man to the big screen…
They should do a Just Cause like game with Action Man.
Check it out . Dial it in. Amp it up
take a shot every time the video says "ACTION"
My inspiration to make my own hero called action tony
I’ve never heard of it before.
Action man was a toyline first and foremost. They are not gonna reboot any kind of show without toys on the market, but i just dont think they are willing to take the risk seeing as kids today mostly just do phone stuff…
I have no idea if this is true or not, but I was always told growing up that this was the European rebrand of GI Joe figures.
Dude said figurines
What was the name of that other show at the time of the 3d Action Man. Best era!
When your sister took your action man toy n used him as Barbie's bf.
lol the 90s was fun
I wonder why the character of Action Man has a North American accent, 🤔 especially because it's supposed to be a British version of G. I. Joe?
didnt we also have a third season?
