These cars were so well made. Such a sweet engine. Other markets got this engine in the 323. They are a pain to work on. While not powerful, they sound amazing.
I drove a manual one of these here in NZ in the early 2000's, they were sold as a Eunos 500 and came with a 1.8 or 2l v6 from what I can remember, I always wanted a Eunos 800, which came out with a 2.5 v6 or 2.3 supercharged v6
11:45 - same happened with my neighbour. She painted her fence when my brother's T3 was right behind it. Told the husband and he said, take it to be detailed and he'd pay for it. A while later, he comes out and says that his wife told him it's water based paint and will wash right off. Had to explain that what his wife was talking about was "water soluble" the stuff you give your kids so they don't ruin the walls whereas "water based" can't just be washed off otherwise her fence would turn back to bare wood next time it rained.
Hello my friend this might help you ! 😬 , it has helped me many times with Japanese 90s vehicles fitted with immobiliser systems , 1 , connect the vehicle to a good strong battery ,2, lock and unlock the vehicle with the key fob ,3,put the vehicle in to ignition mode with the key (Do Not Crank ) ,4, keep the key on ignition mode for 7mins ,5, turn the key to crank the engine , this should start the engine , hope that helps good luck 🤞
Back in this era Ford and Mazda collaborated on a few cars, the Fiesta, the Ranger etc. Mazda used Fords as bases oc their own vehicles. Ford used a 2L V6 in their Mondeo BTCC car. I believe it was derived from the block of the ST200 Mondeo. There's a good chance that the 2L V6 in the Xedos is closely related to the Ford V6. Mazda did have their own V6 around this time though. It could be worth investigating.
Good Afternoon Josh. I am liking your new Project. This very rare Mazda Eros 6 V6 2.0 24V. I was listening to what you were saying about this Incredible vehicle. This is the first time i have seen one. This Beautiful Japanese vehicle had just been Sadly left for 20 Years. The Bodywork of the vehicle is in very Good Condition. I reckon it is something to do with the Immobiliser. The Engine and Electrics need a Thorough going through. I Totally agree with You Josh, she would look absolutely Amasing as a Touring Car with Your name on her, going along the sides. White, would be a Great colour to paint her with. Big Wheels, Big Tyres, Beefed up Suspension, Bigger Brakes, a really Awesome Exhaust System to make her sound Incredible. Josh, You did very Well spotting this Beautiful and Rare Japanese vehicle. You can do this my Friend. You have the Skill and Technological Professional Knowledge to Complete this new " GRESWELLS " Project. Well Done Josh. Jonathan/ Peterborough.
My dad had the Xedos 9. Loved these. Been looking at getting one over last few years. They sold well in Germany so if you are struggling for parts, look there.
Love this car. I believe that fellow Edwin on a different British car channel had one and was quite pleased with it's rarity and composure. Touring car yes!
Man of my heart!! First the Ami, now this beauty!! This was the car that made us fall in love with the brand. They can be bit crusty but they always make you look back B-) Had one swapped with a 2.5, it was awesome!
Touring car sounds like a great plan. Low but not slammed, livery, warmed up a little, then send it. I'd be keen to see a variety of build styles generally on the channel too, keeps things fresh so long as you're enjoying them.
Nice car! Timing belt + service before resolving for the spark issue. Did some work on a Ford Probe 2.5 litre a couple of years ago. Not too scary once one got started.
As a previous owner of quite a few 90’s Mazdas I know that you have to close all doors, trunk and hood to get the alarm to work properly and to shut it off :) this was the case on my 93’ 626, 98’ Demio and my 91’ 626 😋
A very cool taxi driver near me had one of these and later a Xedos 9 in the early 2000's. Used to love getting picked up in them. They both sounded so nice!
Re fence paint removal. Start with really harmless car shampoo wash and wax and warm water and microfibre mop. Then work up to to stronger stuff! Do not go crazy with paint solvents and or abrasives ! My mad neighbour resprayed his roof tiles with some kind of waterbased masonary paint and wind caused over spray on all my old cars. Tried lots of cleaners to remove splatter from clearcoat on my 407. It had stuck really well, in the end a quick wipe with meths dissolved it away easily without damaging laquer, but ethanol methanol mix, which purple methylated spirit is, can still damage finishes if left on to soak for too long ! ( let alone your skin and lungs, plus highly flammable ! Proceed with caution !
Weirdly... I like these! I had the MX-3 (like the red one you had as example of the noise) It has 2 engines, a 1.6l i4 & 1.8l V6 engine I had the 1.8 v6 & loved it.. they are not that quick, but handled lovely!
I remember the first time I saw one new. They looked great, better looking than a jag X. One of those cars which was just not at the right time. Rare new and now well... very rare
Also big yes to touring car idea. There was a show car one that was made by Mazda UK advertising their btcc effort that sold a few years ago but other than that no replicas of the btcc cars
Had never heard off or seen one of these cars before. Watched this video yesterday. Today pulled up to a roundabout and what passes me. Yup one of these. Same colour and everything. Looked a bit strange in the flesh. Very much like a mondoe.
Yes to a ‘90s touring car replica. Yes to a Ring trip & track days. Get supporters of the channel to buy logo / sticker space on the livery to help cover the cost.
Touring car is a great idea but as it is really origional might be worth getting it running and sell it onto an enthusiast that loves that Mazda pretty rare to see one of them in that shape.. They used to be used as company cars quite well built
Almost bought that one myself (had one 12 years ago). If you turn out to gut it, which would be a bit of a shame since it's probably not rotten, I might be interested in the interior.
Defo the Immobiliser, everything else sprang to life. Make sure the Battery is fully charged! Unlock using the fob, turn car to ign but don't start (Should be a thing with giving the Immo time to sort its shit out its been asleep for 20 years.) Read your nice Mazda books about your immo (don't have any noise you need to be able to hear if things click) after about 10 mins try and start it. Paint like a touring car...Yes! If all else fails learn to break like a Kangaroo....;D
Owned same model/colour at one time. Unique smell, nippy as fk and loves petrol. Think i got part of original air box. Previous owner had cut hole in bonnet, fitted scoop for better breathing. As ever, enjoying your vids.
I remember seeing these around in the 90's. They were as numerous as probably any other Mazda model of that size. Not many left because they're pretty fugly/bland. Looking forward to the transformation!
Cool car, but I'd just get it running and put the money/time towards other half finished projects. If you want to do the touring car thing wait for a P20 GT to come up
Cool as penguin piss, I used to walk past a brand new one every day on my way to school. Touring cars are cool, but maybe this deserves some OEM plus treatment, coilovers, de-chrome, full paint correction keep her looking original. Touring car the shit out of a more common Nissan 👍🏻
I don't think you should modify it. I think it's looks are pretty cool as it is. It has to make a great daily driver for someone if you just got it running and MOTed it
damn im so disappointing that its not a xedos 9. i love the 9 and its so rare, it docent even exist in any game. i own 3 xedos 9 btw and i could sell you one

Be a shame to lose it's originality. It's a proper survivor car!

Thanks for the tip! i’ll give it a go!!

Touring car idea sounds great. Get it going first :)
yes josh touring car would be class

Corrr I hope you get it running! That engine sounds insane 🤩 Touring car theme would be brilliant, I've never seen one of these before!
My dad had the Xedos 9. Loved these. Been looking at getting one over last few years. They sold well in Germany so if you are struggling for parts, look there.

Had one swapped with a 2.5, it was awesome!
Yeah grandpa, all sounding nice and stuff, but this just needs a roaring exhaust, touring car fitment and a DIY livery 😎
I have a massive soft spot for these Japanese semi-luxury saloons with tiny but silky smooth V6s!
So fresh plugs. Fuel and a battery in the fob and that should fire up
Fence paint should polish off (I accidentally sprayed my neighbours car! 🙄)
Love the touring car idea! 👍

It will be interesting to see all your work trying to get it running.
Get it running and sell it dude and move on to the next one. I'd love to see it running.
Pretty car I always thought. Xedos 9 is nice too.
I had a 323f with the same engine. Great little car. Touring car replica would be good, but a niche market should you come to sell it on.
Yeah boy ! Mazdaboy Joshy is back !
A very cool taxi driver near me had one of these and later a Xedos 9 in the early 2000's. Used to love getting picked up in them. They both sounded so nice!
Always loved these Xedos models. Added a load of photos of the btcc cars to the weasals screensavers in their unit a few years ago 😂

I’m here for the touring car build 👍
Lovely car Josh I’d like to see it restored not touring car but I can see why people would love it as a touring car.
Clean cranksensor, check power going to coilpack, although my first guess would be immobiliser as you thought
Weirdly... I like these! I had the MX-3 (like the red one you had as example of the noise) It has 2 engines, a 1.6l i4 & 1.8l V6 engine I had the 1.8 v6 & loved it.. they are not that quick, but handled lovely!

Great idea!! Do it do it!
That's a neat car, Touring Car idea sounds good
Also big yes to touring car idea. There was a show car one that was made by Mazda UK advertising their btcc effort that sold a few years ago but other than that no replicas of the btcc cars
I had a mx3 1.8 v6 that sounded really cool. Like the touring car idea.
100% Touring car rep’ would be cool, Josh😎

Also, I think Auto Alex did a video with this model, super rare in the UK (like single digits?)
Xedos are acheingly cool, mazda have always been weird and i love that
I think it's a nice looking car, I remember seeing matt neal in the btcc roll his at Silverstone
a very cool car, get it sorted as you plan
Touring car is a great idea but as it is really origional might be worth getting it running and sell it onto an enthusiast that loves that Mazda pretty rare to see one of them in that shape.. They used to be used as company cars quite well built

Lowered, moon disks, whitewalls daily cruiser.
I've just got myself today a 2.5 v6 automatic that needs some work but runs 🤣.
Plenty of these were had in Australia!! Can probably still get parts for them
I had the same problem with the fence paint, I tried all the usual thinners, clay bar etc but had to wet sand with 2000 then polish 😅
Owned same model/colour at one time. Unique smell, nippy as fk and loves petrol. Think i got part of original air box. Previous owner had cut hole in bonnet, fitted scoop for better breathing. As ever, enjoying your vids.
V6, 24v quad cam, what more can you want, can’t wait to hear it run, especially if it sounds like the red car
Great find and video. Looks like a Rover 🤔
I remember seeing these around in the 90's. They were as numerous as probably any other Mazda model of that size. Not many left because they're pretty fugly/bland. Looking forward to the transformation!
Hope joshwaaa doing grewells things to this
We had them in Australia and they were call Eunos by Mazda
Touring car definitely plus it sounds sweet! Go for it..
you might wunna try a claybar to get that overspray off, hopefully its not adhered well
That engine is going to drive you mental!
Sure the car throttle boys did a video with one of those. Certainly something different and would look great as a touring car.
It’s the Mazda millennia (the name in the states) I wanted this version and the refresh looked even better to me but still a beautiful car nonetheless
I have a ford telstar 2.5 V6 it had a similar problem . Had to replace the distributor . And if possible remove alarm system
Touring car build ❤️
Cool car, but I'd just get it running and put the money/time towards other half finished projects. If you want to do the touring car thing wait for a P20 GT to come up
Think u can bypass the immob in these with connecting plugs together under the dash on drivers side
Full touring car spec needed dude ...... I'm currently looking at 1 myself ....but it'd be my daily 😂
Wasn’t the mx3 a 1.8 v6 i had a 1993 k black one… great engine
Wouldn’t the battery in the key fob be dead?
Build it mate I like it
Try oven cleaner to remove the fence paint
Nice car, hope you put it through a TCC facelift. If you go to the NR, take my car BMW 2002 back to the UK and lower it and put a M44 in?
Oh yeah I love these weird xedos! BTCC replica project can be really really cool indeed
They are class, lower it on banded steels job done
Really cool!!! 🙌🏼🇸🇪
fun fact the 2.5 litre v6 from the mx6 and ford probe is a straight swap very easy to do the swap aswell
Shame you won't go down the low route, it'll look mega on VIP style wheels 😅
touring car sounds cool
Cool as penguin piss, I used to walk past a brand new one every day on my way to school. Touring cars are cool, but maybe this deserves some OEM plus treatment, coilovers, de-chrome, full paint correction keep her looking original. Touring car the shit out of a more common Nissan 👍🏻
Go for it!
I be very happy to have a car like that mate 👍💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯👍
To me, it looks like a very good daily car. Comfy, realible, can fit a lot of stuff, maybe some good wheels?
thirsty though, but very comfy and quiet
I don't think you should modify it. I think it's looks are pretty cool as it is. It has to make a great daily driver for someone if you just got it running and MOTed it
How come you don’t use this unit? It’s bigger than your workshop?
Bags. Slammed ridiculously low on some 3 piece wheels.. stick to your formula that you do well
Love a old mazda
Get it running
Deffo a touring car rep as that is a bland as they come! See how you feel after getting it running and driving!.
Definitely touring car be cool
Knowing Mazdas this thing will be rotten!!!! 😂
Touring car would look awesome
No matter what it'll be a good track day car
Lots of work and effort when they're about £13-1500 with a fresh mot. Still want to see what you do with it :)
I've owned one of these, was a great car, would look awesome done v.i.p spec
Get it running clean it an sell it to some one who would take care of it 😊
"Death row" 😂
You are probably going to have to spend a bit of cash to get it running. I'm happy to take your Marios off your hands, for the right price 😏
Rumour has it the X in Xedos was originally due to be a P
Full service straight pioe new filter drop it
🍀Cool 🍀 Congratulations 🍀
Same engine in MX3
damn im so disappointing that its not a xedos 9. i love the 9 and its so rare, it docent even exist in any game. i own 3 xedos 9 btw and i could sell you one
