Hey now in siege this guy can rival leader class figures. Hasbro can get the details a robot/vehicle modes down now we just need to tweak the size especially the leader class figures
When I was younger, there was an Energon Prowl but his head, arms, and windshield were missing at daycare. Thankfully the legs forming the powerlinks arms gave this prowl toy play value as a floating, legless robot with the spoiler forming the face.
What I get really confused by is, this is clearly a very Mirage-looking toy, with even the colours being similar to G1 Mirage... yet they named him Prowl?? I don't get it. What's weirder is, they did this twice! They had a character who was near-identical to G1 Wheeljack, yet they called him Downshift?? That makes zero sense, especially when they HAD a Wheeljack in Armada, and they could've just said it was the same character.
I always liked this guy more for his combined modes than the individual ones. As a solo figure I was always acutely aware that he was just an upscale of Armada Starscream's Minicon. Someone at Hasbro or Takara must've loved that design, since it was used for two separate Minicons and Prowl here.
he was in "shirt-mode" for one episode in "distribution" where he combined with cliffjumper... ERR I MEAN DOWNSHIFT, who also turned into his shirt form. so it was a goofy moment.
My favorite combination with him was Torso Inferno and Prowl Legs = Energon Defensor. Inferno is one of the better Torsos imo, so putting them together gets you a really nice and posable combo.
I got this figure secondhand yesterday (thanks to this review), and I do wish there were a couple of tabs to plug the powerlinx leg stems into the back. That would make messing with the legs in robot mode feel much better

1:16 No there aren't. You probably saw the Caparo T1 or the Ariel Atom, cars that are F1 inspired and were painted in special police liveries in the UK.
I think my biggest issue with these old energon reviews is that combiners philosophy, the extra bits do whatever they want. Me personally, I try to go for as show accurate as possible, just because it looks best

Okay, I'm gonna be honest. His head seems pretty well-hidden IMHO. It's in the back, face hidden and near the bottom. Anyway, I own this guy and like him a lot overall. I've got him as the 'shirt' to Rodimus' 'pants' now. ;)
The main reason I never liked him was because of his proportions. He kind of stood out a lot more than other Energon figures at the time and not in a good way. It's almost as if he was meant for the completely different toy line. And the head sculpt I didn't like not because it doesn't look like Prowl. RID didn't look like Prowl either. I don't like it because it's just shoved in the back of the vehicle mode and in robot mode because of the exhaust pipes on his head, it looks like he has rabbit ears. I'm surprised he was never repainted into a Pre-Beast Wars Stampy.
He was red alert in superlink , the Japanese version of energon. So the story actually worked as red alert was in superlink. But in the English version red alert disappeared for energon and came back in cybertron.
TJOmega I think he actually had a repaint along with Rodimus as i remember seeing a 2-pack of them known as the SWAT team, Rodimus was renamed into Checkpoint who is mostly white with some black while Prowl is the reverse aka mosly black with some white.
Fun fact: In "pants" mode, Prowl can actually use his arms, giving the combined form four arms (the "shirt" robot and Prowl's normal arms) for combat. Like you said, Prowl does the gimmick the best, which is why he's probably my favorite of the Energon Autobots. Followed by Omega Sentinel and Quickstrike.
Nice, didn't think you would know about the rotating torso part when in legs mode, also this Prowl is very similar to the minicon armada Starscream has(the name of that was Swindle if I remember right ?) or the one included in the Starboom Shield. Also got the reference at the end, while I didn't really watch the full show, I saw that one clip many years ago(almost 10 Years ago by now).
+OptimusPhillip In case you don't get it this uses the exact same transformation engineering as the Armada Mini-Con Swindle (and his retool Mirage, who also formed the bottom of the Skyboom Shield).
prowl reminds me of the armada minicon swindle. he has the chest spoiler, shoulder pads made out of the tires, etc.

Prowl looks like a 3rd Party Oversized KO of a minicon.
My word, this looks gigantic in vehicle mode compared to modern deluxes.

Actually there are some sequences that have Prowl in shirt mode...

This isn't a F1 car. F1 never had a closed off cockpit. It's an actual tiny, but I can't remember the name of it. Some euro thing.

A stampy would be an awesome custom from this mild especially with prowl's "rabbit feet"

Upscales havent been new at all. Look at Bumblebee v. Sunstreaker or Wheeljack. Overall same scheme
