I prefer to be a trendsetter than someone who follows trends that are really awful… I prefer a classic style… Mixing it with your own vibe… Your own eclectic sense of style so you can create your own look that reflects who you are as a person and try to be original and authentic… instead of looking at premade outfits… Of course, some people don’t have that ability so they need help.😁✌🏼

I just got my first denim jacket. It’s a vintage aot one that comes with a hood. And it’s extremely comfortable and easy to move around in. I think I’d go with the vintage moving forward.

I know this video is 3 years old but I've been seeing regular fit more and more now. It fits my body and shoulders perfectly, length is perfect too but the arms are relax fit, quite wide to be honest. I feel like I got one designed for layering with long sleeves because if you get a slim fit one, you won't be able to wear that with a long sleeved oxford shirt.

Absolutely… Waxed denim, waxed canvas.. trucker jackets, short jackets, or anything in a similar cut and style… Are fantastic… I love my wax cotton jacket… It’s motorcycle style, it’s a classic… Barbour international.. the Duke… And they have a whole line of wax cotton jackets, inspired by the motorcycle. Look of Steve McQueen… Great stuff I think you’ll love it, and the great thing is that most Americans have no idea so you can on one of those jackets and be more original here then you would be in Europe/UK. The prices are not too expensive… You can find cool, used ones that have a nice patina, because they actually look better the older they get… Just like denim jackets… For around 150, the new ones are around three or $400… Sometimes more if you go for the Belstaff brand.. mostly made in Italy and UK… Just like the Barbour/Barbour International..

Pro tip for my fellow short and shorter kings out there: Eddie Bauer makes denim jackets that actually hit at the waist if you are 5’6” 5’7” and the arms are actually cut for people that have more than spaghetti arms, 100% freedom of movement. And they look better than Levi’s, I know that’s sacrilege

Flannel plaid works great with denim especially vintage but it depends on the style and colors.. I love the ones made by RL denim and supply co. The flannel fabric, and most of them are extremely soft, high quality, lightweight and great colors and plaid patterns… Shit if I could show you some pictures, I think you would agree… Not all plaid flannel is the same.

While denim jacket has been around for 140 years the dominating design you show is from 1962 (Levi type III) - and yes that is also the type I like the most.
I know you said that make doesn't matter. But no rules without exceptions. This winter because of corona there has been a lot of online sales going on and I've stocked up on both denim jackets and denim vests. There's two I'd like to point out.
The first is an "acid" washed light distressed grey from Calvin Klein called "foundation trucker". Yeah I know already broke two or three of your rules. It's basically a classical 1962 design but with a special twist I've not seen from anyone else. If you want to stand out in the subtle way this is absolutely awesome. I really like it. Goes for just about every event unless those requiring dressing. One more thing I like about is that the inner upper back/shoulder part is made of two layers - not just one as on most denim jackets. It's a tad warmer but without adding bulk.
The other one is a King Kerosin stone washed brown/rust colored vest reminescent of something from vintage bike gangs. For the right occasions it's awesome. Yeah unlike the CK above it's not for any occasion. But it fits a niche gab in my wardrobe. For casual weekend events on days too hot for a jacket it is perfect. Pair it with a nice looking tee if you want to make a statement and not just be the one amongst 1000s of others.
Sure everyone should have the classic jacket too. But it's nice to have variations and if you have pants in many shades too then also not every jacket goes equally well with all of your pants.
One last thing. Stay away from contrast stitching! (no orange on blue etc.)

I think the best shoes to wear with a denim jacket… are a slightly worn pair of logger boots… Or biker boots… But tennis shoes? Trainers? Not really, they kind of clash… Especially if your feet are getting more attention than your jacket it’s OK to wear more of the, subtle canvas like converse… Skater, shoes, flat soles… But the running shoes/basketball shoes..it really depends on how big and bright they are… Because sometimes, like I said, before if they get way too much attention… Just like a car with big obnoxious chrome wheels… They shouldn’t outshine the vehicle or the rest of your clothes. balance and proportion matters not just in the shape and cut but also the color and proportion.

Try out a big oversized flannel that buttoned up but leave some lose part at the neck area then throw on some lightwashed denim jacket,(even better if its distressed bcuz there are much colorblocking going on with this type of denim jacket) it's gonna be fly. 😊

the other day I got a Mercury Denim Jacket from Hallensteins which was 70 dollars my first denim jacket I did look at one with a hoodie from Farmers which was 10 dollars more but got the one I got instead and I have some denim jeans on just a lighter color and some black ones too, also have some chinos which are darker to add to the outfit just need to get some better shoes, but for shoes I wear my DC men's Heathrow Last shoes which are black with some blue and pink.

Yes but I'm 6'3" and slim so like every denim jacket is way to short. Dont get me wrong ik they are often meant to have a shorter cut but it's too much.
That's the reason I've buyed my Denim Jacket one size larger than other jackets. I'm 6'4'' and I wear normally size L (I'm Slender). The length is now ok, but the Fit is a bit to big. I look now more thick. I have a Tommy Hilfiger Denim Jacket for around 100$.
For Denim or Leather Jackets just go for a larger size. Downside is maybe the fit.
