    I love my paid-for car! It’s Toyota Camry 2020, why I bought brand-new and paid it off in giant consistent payments very quickly. My regular payment was $577, and I paid $5,000 and even more monthly. I was burdened by the car payment. Now, I’m paying off my student loans: $62,000 paid in 9 months, 9 out of 12 student loans are paid in full, with $43,000 to go.

    You speak the language of business well, and, like you, I too use spreadsheets to manage my finances. I was a business owner once, a business manager, an accountant, and have a graduate degree in a business field. So even though I live in my truck, my life as a nomad is my profession, and my objective as a truck-dwelling nomad is simply this: To maximize fun, food, travel and entertainment while saving 500 dollars or more per month. I love your videos by the way. You are about the most upbeat person there is on youtube, and I always come away from your videos with renewed life and enthusiasm.

    Your channel is inspiring, I developed so many bad financial habits over the years. This kind of living would force me to address those bad financial habits.

    Also a diabetic here, i love to grab salad kits from the grocery store. I'll add rotisserie chicken to it or get some meat cut at the deli counter. I do that quite often when I'm on the move and busy. I can definitely see how hard it would be without anyway to cook anything currently. Hopefully you'll get the other setup soon with cooking and that will be a game changer for sure.
    Max out that roth IRA for sure.

    Maybe your next car can be bought with cash. Just an idea! You are a rock star. Living in a car is not ideal, I'm sure (though i want to someday), but takes real grit.

    Hello, I’m new. Can you live in your rental? Saving on healthier food, storage, maybe some hotel, campgrounds, property management, and no need for a different car, may make it worth it. Next, why are you going to community college when you’re working as a lawyer? Is tuition free (I know it is in some states and you only mentioned book expense)? Stopping that could free up time for a side hustle. What is your long-term goal (3-5 years)? You mentioned owning a law firm-can you cook there? Set up a mini-kitchen there with a fridge. Or, could you sell your rental and use equity to pay off/down debt? These are just some topics that came to mind as I listened for the first time. Kudos, I could not handle car life!

    • @elizabethoffgrid
      @elizabethoffgrid  10 місяців тому

      Yep I've considered much of that, but thanks for the ideas that may be helpful to other people! If you'd like to learn about my goals, they are here ua-cam.com/video/61CQYKwCFis/v-deo.html and here ua-cam.com/video/q7TT1F-2suc/v-deo.html

      @@elizabethoffgrid Thanks! I also ran across your thoughts on keeping that house. If you add up all the interest you pay on mortgage and loans that you’d pay off if sold, would that be significant enough to warrant a sale? Then you could start saving for a newer house for retirement while earning interest instead of paying it for years? Or, has the market changed too much in your area? Is this a realistic house to retire in? Will you be able to keep up with the repairs? That’s my issue. I love my house but it was built in 1904 and just not realistic to keep up with maintenance on what won’t be a huge retirement nest egg. Better to downsize to a newer and smaller home. I’m in the Midwest tho, where housing is still reasonable if you’re not too picky.

    Hy-Vees?? Wow! I haven’t heard or seen of them since I was in Iowa, Illinois and Missouri on my car camping travels! It’s an excellent store and I was surprised to find they had a car wash and you could purchase fuel from them too! Safe Travels! 👍🇺🇸

(just wondering .... heaps of pple in u.s. seem to be doing it)....do you know where youd like to live if you ever go back to a home? also...is safety not an issue? (not to be negative, just wondering)....happy travels ..... look fwd to seeing your adventures cheers from down under :) ps how do you go to community college when traveling - is it online?

      Yep, I would still do it, just differently (with a different/new vehicle). I do own raw land in New Mexico, and may do some off grid tiny house living someday. I talked about safety in this video: ua-cam.com/video/gxbUtSKqii8/v-deo.html

    If you want to do the lowest carb you need to go carnivore to get off them diabetic meds, you need to get some Roam beef sticks, also you can buy McDonald's patties alacart, make sure to buy the quarter pounder, they are cooked fresh, eggs and boiled eggs do not Spike blood sugar either .
