I always felt Walk On Water was underproduced. I love the lyrics but the beat was nothing. Just a piano key. There's a performance of Walk On Water on SNL and it's amazing with proper instrumentation. It really brings out the emotion of what he's saying. I always wondered why the album version didn't use a full instrumental.
Revival had production issues in 2017 trap especially mumble rap was heavy in the streets em didn’t like the mono sound everyone had the same style he tired to take a stand with the production to sound different but sorely missed. It wouldn’t be until the 2020s when people got tired of the mumble trap thing nowadays people are more open to different styles again thankfully but yeah in the mid late 2010s you had to sound a certain way or it was wack

@@EnriqueNeira-dm8br I think Revival is definitely his worst album but I also dont think it’s as bad as everyone makes it out to be. There’s some really good stuff on there. But I also get why it has a bad rep.
@@MADCAPONTHETRACK I think Revival is amazing, now he is an 50 y/o edgelord who is dissing his own mom again and trying too hard to stay relevant, and it's working so I'm glad I guess, but this weird beard's guy is not my cup of tea anymore
@@EnriqueNeira-dm8br ohhhhh ok I see what you’re saying. That’s the first time I’ve actually ever heard that take from somebody! Interesting! I can agree with that to an extent. I DO think the slim shady thing is getting a little played out now even though I can appreciate the humor and wordplay that comes with it. I think it’s time for Em to really sit down and lock in with the right producers, drop the gimmicks and just focus on creating something entirely new and refreshing that we haven’t heard him do yet. No slim shady stuff, just him at his absolute core. Not faking any rage or aggression, not creating concepts, just him really digging into where he’s at now you know? I love the new album a lot, don’t get me wrong. But I get what you mean.
The thing with Marshall is that he has already given us his all, is the greatest lyricist of all time, but as an artist, creator, writer, anything, there comes a point when you got nothing else to say, and he reached that point a long, long time ago. He's still making music because he loves hip hop, is an addicted to play with words and because it is the only thing he really has, he is so good that even making music for the simple fact of making it is superior to any artist of the genre, but there is no substance or any kind of message behind his music anymore, "Somebody save me" is just another and less effective "Arose", there is nothing more he can offer or tell us as an artist at this point. And it hurts 🥲
@@EnriqueNeira-dm8br well put! My theory is that the next album is definitely going to be his final album and that’s where we’re gonna get some real substance. And hopefull that’s the case. As sad as it’ll be to see him go, we’re gonna get something great out of it to close it all out you know?
I can't un-hear this

@@tiakitair135 I couldn’t agree more. It could have been a great song if there was a little more production. Some kind of percussion at least.
@@MADCAPONTHETRACK I was wondering if you can do Eminem type beat temporary mix with not afraid by Eminem a cappella
@@MakhiChandler I’ll see what I can do!
I think the idea is it's stripped back cause Marshall's stripped back

Awesome, though it is more enjoyable without the Beyoncé hook.
I completely agree. Might re-upload without the hook.
