One of my favourite alcoholic drinks. For a cheap beer from Lidl I'd genuinely pay the same price as I would for Guinness or even Heineken for it in a pub if they had it on draught
Like this beer a lot I personally get it in the can. The main reason being is I used to buy the bottles regularly but I had one that was off it probably skunked due to the green bottle and it put me off. Been buying the cans ever since and it is fantastic always grab a pack or two to keep in the fridge.
Just smashed one of these. Been giving a swerve since it changed from being brewed in Germany to France. Also it used to be in a brown bottle. However, I have to say it's still a bloody good beer and knocks most of the big brand beers into a cocked hat. Will be revisiting this one a lot particularly if we get some warm weather 🍻👍
So glad you liked this. I am one of the only ones on ratebeer that gave this a decent score. It's a cracking pils. Can pick a load of this up and doesn't put a dent in the wallet. Cracking with a curry
Well this review could not have come at a better time. I’ve been drinking Krombacher pils (cracking beer) but It’s been recommended that I try Lidl’s own beer Perlenbacher premium pils. Going by your review I can’t wait to try one. I’m just back from Lidl and stocked my fridge with Perlenbacher ready for teatime. I hope it is as good as your review suggests as I have read other reviews slating it. 🤞
When it comes to lagers ,it's the germans and everybody else. They are doing us a favour keeping it 1.68 Euros per can. This is not your average supermarket beer. Far from that.
I'll be sure to get a few bottles next time I'm passing Lidl. I sometimes buy Aldi's Rheinbacher Pilsner which is also £0.99 for a 500ml bottle and would definitely recommend that to anybody. Great review!
At least least used to be, haven't had it in years so Ima give a try today. Heard it's not as good anymore but if the reviews are wrong I'll bay maybe 40 of those. I'm kinda sentimental about Perlenbacher
I've bought Perlenbacher lager from Lidl now and then for many many years, and always liked it! Rigth now I drink Perlenbacher Premium Lager 5.3 per cent vol.
Love this pilsner. Trying it for the first time tonight. I have had 3 so far. The first went down real easy, so has the 3rd. As will the 4th. Cracking beer and I whole heartily recommend it. I got 8 500ml bottles for less than £6.50 today... I'll be buying more.
Being from Belgium I have the luxury of having some of the best beers available to me. That is the stronger tripel, dubbel, trapist beers. For regular pils beers I always go for Perlenbacher over stella artois, Jupiler, Maes, Heineken, Crystal etc. It's fucking amazing, not to mention cheap!
Seeing this 4 years late! This Beer has been my favourite for I think around 8 years now, i got lucky to stumble upon buying it on the off chance in Lidl around about 2016. For me it is stunning, the taste and sensation it gives me is hard to explain, i think it is better than Sex!! ;-)
Can you please tell me where the wheat is sourced? I believe perlenbacher is brewed in France, French wheat is very high in glyphosate a cancer causing pesticide, can you tell the COA pesticide level
The cans are 4.8% while the bottles are 4.9% - how is that, are they the same beer? The bottles taste nicer to me, but i'm not sure if thats all in my head.
It´s Frankfurt at the Oder in the east, not Frankfurt at the Main. They brew cheap but decent beers also for other discounters. This one in germany is 29 cent by every Lidl.
@@TheBierHooligan That´s my serious problem during Corona crisis, having a Lidl round the corner...:-) The Perlenbacher Weizen for 35cent is sold in the UK as Patronus (our Patronus for 59 cent is totaly different). Perelenbacher is an absolut serious brewery, i like all stuff of them.
@@TheBierHooligan In Germany beer is not luxury goods, it´s staple food and not so hard taxed and it has to be cheap as milk, bread and butter, otherwise here´ ll be civil war!
My lockdown beer :-) Ive had 30 in a night. I like the bite , its got to be cold cold cold... id like to buy some of those glasses ... The hangover from Perlenbacher is rough though.
That's a shame. I just discovered this beer today and thought I might save a few bucks over Heineken. I'm a heavy drinker. I probably put away somewhere around 2000 12 ounce heineken's last year. If I feel well enough tomorrow, I'll give it another go for sure. It's tasty enough at it's price point.
I've had this beer out of bottles and cans , 2.99 pound for 4 x 500 ml cans at 4.5% is a good buy . I'm very tight when it comes to spending money and if on a tight budget you can't go wrong on this beer . Thanks for the review it was a good honest one 👍 enjoyed thanks 😊
I used to buy this from Lidl at 99p as it was cheap, always had a fridge full of it, I stopped buying it when Tesco started selling the Bavaria 5% for £1. What is your opinion Mark on the two, which one do you prefer, do you prefer one over the other?
Great review 👍 love a perlenbacher on a hot day... strangely the cans and bottles are different abv. Also why do they say brewed in France when it’s made by frankfurter?
Great review of a good pilsener! I remember that years ago I especially go to Lidl to grab a Sixpack of those Perlenbacher 0,5l bottles (then in brown glass) of those, along with BitBurger. Lidl and other big supermarkets and stores doesn't sell BitBurger anymore in my country... I miss that pilsener. Lidl sells Perlenbacher in cans along with Argus, Kordaat (pretty new but I dont like it), Finkbrau and Oettinger. Also in our Lidl they sell great Belgium beers, Waterloo Triple Blonde, Piraat Triple Hop and Van Steenbergen Gift box with Bornem Dubbel, Tripel, Gulden Draak+9000 Quad, Piraat and Piraat Tripel Hop.
Chilling my 1st Perlenbacher now, Lidl just opened a store near me. Better than Warsteiner is high praise, I don’t know about that. Wehestephaner Original is a close favorite
I like it as well - even if some complain about that bloody little amount of glyphosate (let's take it as lobbyists' anti-commercial ...:P ) -cheerz - hope u had a quite bearable ..let's say BEERable xmas -greetz outta the caliphate of DUISBURG (Germany) "beloved hell" :)
Its funny when you think that most people that drink a lot of beer and that would tell you that they love beer never drinked a good beer in their life, only bad cheap lagers like Bud or Coors.

what do you think of it being in a green bottle, good or bad or are you not bothered ?
