I agree with the pre-rookie cards. They are so vastly underrated, especially the 2017 Bowman Ronald Acuna card - it is such a cool looking card compared to the stupid 2018 bat up/bat down silliness. Also, Cody Bellinger is underrated - just last year he was considered to be the 2nd best player in all of baseball!
Awesome list! Didn't know he had a youtube channel, see him all the time on LinkedIn. I'm surprised there wasn't a single Tom Brady card mentioned. One sold for $98K last year, and his Playoff Contender's Rookie Ticket sold a few weeks ago for $550k. Even his mass-produced Bowman or Upper Deck base rookies are $1500 UNGRADED. IMO none of this fresh crop will hold up to Brady's standards in football. The 2000's were a great mix of the discount brands available for broke college students as well as the higher end limited production products, such as SPx and SP Authentic Game Used Rookie Autos. Where else could you pull autographs from Ed Too Tall Jones, Junior Seau, Johnny Unitas, Howie Long, right nect to Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Emmitt Smith, etc? Really enjoyed this video. Was hoping Gary would discuss Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic the Gathering. Not sure if he really follows these two but I definitely think theres a lot of discussion to be had on certain staples like Dark Magician, Blue Eyes, Black Lotus etc.. Blue Eyes could be the next Charizard!
GaryV which card should we really look at and invest in today? And your video again great. Thanks for the info, also I think that Herro could actually get better and get the car to the next level just like Luka
I aggressively collected basketball cards when I was younger from the early 90’s through the late 90’s and of all the players I collected (Garnett, Iverson, Duncan, Shaq, Penny, Grant Hill, Ray Allen and the list goes on) and of all the rookies and inserts and everything that I had of all those 90’s players, only Kobe held some kind of value throughout the years and RIP Kobe
Totally agree with him on the older playeds cards, no doubt, but alot of the people in the game and driving pricing today are younger. Im Garys age i watched the players he's referring to, but demand for players that young kids can watch and prospect now will always be a lil out of whack. Its like sports betting, nothing like having money on a game u can watch, power of adrenaline.
Huge Heat fan here. Recently got back into the hobby and I was shocked how undervalued Wade cards are compared to modern players like Ja Taytum and Zion. Started loading up in December!
Love you Gary!!! You rock brother 💪 I have a very small following especially here on UA-cam. The cards market is so insane rn. Friend of mine just started buying in physical copies of old PS1 Games. I have a funny feeling this will turn out quite nicely in the next 2-3 years.
Gary I would love to hear your opinion on Magic the Gathering especially from the early 90’s incredibly underpriced considering rarity and demand. An Alpha Black Lotus PSA 10 sold for $511,000 dollars and I believe population is around 7 and total print run was 1,100 of the card.
I too think the marvel card market can be strong long term. Lots of overlap in those audiences (sports+marvel) now that the MCU has started. Before the MCU? It would have been reserved for ‘the nerds’. The likes of the Fleer marvel card line come to mind from the 90s in good condition could be solid to hold. High-end product with autos of MCU actors or numbered autos (maybe even cut autos) of marvel artists past and present would interest me, as a collector. Maybe as an “investor” too.

Generally agree with most of the things but not all of them. The few things that I don't agree with: I think he's over estimating how much sealed wax there is of sealed prizm from 18-19, and 19-20. When he says there are a ton of Luka and Herro rookies still in sealed wax--I disagree. I'd be shocked if more than 10-15% of the total wax run for those years of prizm are still sealed. Secondly--when he says Herro, Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell are overpriced compared to guys like Shaq, Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, and Tracy McGrady (which is weird because I could easily see Tatum and Mitchell having better careers than McGrady)--he has a point--but maybe the point should be that Shaq, Allen, Wade, Iverson rookies are underpriced. A 25k population report for Luka rookies looks gigantic--until you see that the population report for outstanding shares of tesla stock is over 900 million shares. There are over 18.5 million bitcoin in circulation. If he's of the belief that sports cards are truly becoming a new asset class--than a population of 25k is remarkably tiny. With that said--overall-I do think that he brings up some great and valid points and I do love what he brings to the hobby.
I was in the baseball card game way back in the late 80s and 90s. The bottoms fell out and they were worthless. Assuming the same thing will happen with all of these as history seems to repeat itself.
With how the population is going of resellers you have to imagine there are a lot, A LOT, more Zion, Ja, Herro cards that have not been opened. People sell the boxes for more than the card is worth sometimes and it's a no win situation. And the price is just gonna go down on them as more and more get opened. People hoarding and paying off vendors to get cards are gonna get their karma soon. It's better to just look for the players you want and buy single cards now than try and hunt from city to city to buy cards on the shelf. Panini is outrageous as well now selling their direct stuff at resale prices rather than retail price. What used to be a hobby for some of us has turned into craziness. I'm not trying to pay car payment prices for a blaster box that is and always be worth 19.99$...my rant for the day. LoL
I have 2 purple disco Zions that are 10 candidates for sure. Of course I take it with a grain of salt, but I had a card shop check it out with their equipment and they said it's got a good shot. Now, obviously a 10 is hard so I'm expecting a 9. But holy shit there's only 3 PSA 10's of it....I could get lucky folks. I got a disco purple Zion Tribute, disco purple Zion base, and a lebron purple disco for $160.
Lamelo Crusade Refractors are on fire right now...just look at what his Leaf cards did over the last couple of years!!! Anybody else thinking Ferrari by Summertime?

LoL
Hey Gary whats about the bowman chrome lebron james psa/bgs 9?
Funny how nobody talks about power rangers cards from the 90s. You're welcome.
I love this new show's setting !
Gary we need more videos about sports cards not everyone can afford the expensive ones you should do a video on the ones from 100-200
There really isn't any graded cards under 200, at least not any that will grow in value
@@TELLMEWHOYAGOT they don't have to be graded I mean cards in general. Some people don't like graded cards
@@danielbusby5773 ok yes there are a lot of ungraded opportunities. The UA-camr named psa collector, has great content on that.
What about trout rookies. Which one is the best
Lamelo Crusade Refractors are on fire right now...just look at what his Leaf cards did over the last couple of years!!! Anybody else thinking Ferrari by Summertime?
I wish PSA wasn’t so darn ridiculous EXPENSIVE and SLOWER than Snail mail itself
