Great video Paul. Thanks for sharing.
What amazing footage. I was an 'A' level student at P'boro Tech in 1980. Looking at this, with its atmospheric soundtrack and no commentary, makes me reflect that it 's like looking back at a different planet, which in so many ways it was.
I rented one of those houses on potters Way Circa 2005. It brings to reality that someone was living there... before I was even born !
I remember very well the layout of Potters Way and the Running track when I used to work for the Parks Dept then , also where the Potters Way Pavilion that was the changing rooms for the football pitches on that piece of land behind the houses was when I started work there was the council tip . I can also see the old groundsman shed that we used for the maintenance macinery of the Running track and River embankment . I notice that the new builds are built on the old sewage works site but haven't used the old tip site for building for ovious reasons , but at present the tip area is now used as a nature area as not suitable for pitches any more due to the uneven surface due to land settlement . Happy days there then.
I was in the Isolation Hospital to have my tonsils removed in about 1950. Early NHS and a bit of a mess, I can remember the smell of the rubber sheet and have hated balloons ever since. The early days of the NHS have a lot to answer for. Would St Marys church have been on this photograph please?
Not on this one ..... but it is on the Eastfield Road video >>>>> ua-cam.com/video/PnjxzbUXK6g/v-deo.html
I wonder how many people who live on that estate off of Potters Way know their living on a old sewage works?
