    Thanks Eric, great lesson. Had to buy this one, super reasonable pricing, which I appreciate. This is the kind of playing I want to get better at. I think of it as Jamming with your self without a looper pedal.

    • @EricHaugenGuitar
      @EricHaugenGuitar  5 років тому

      Yeah exactly!
      Loopers are great, but don’t prepare us for real time fill placement when jamming with a group of living musicians!

      You’ll notice that practicing this helps loosen everything up - the transition from rhythm to lead gets blurrier and blurrier!

    0:00 exercise 1 (blues scale)
    3:07 exercise 2 (minor scale)
    7:03 exercise 3 (major scale)
    one day i will succeed to play all these exercices just right, but for now, i just continue to watch this amazing video again and again and again and again (and it's getting better at its own speed, i'm full of hope!) :D

    • @EricHaugenGuitar
      @EricHaugenGuitar  4 роки тому +1

      Slow and steady wins the race!
      And remember - if working on these exercises leads to new riffs of your own, follow that creativity to wherever it goes!

      @@EricHaugenGuitar thank you! and yes all of that inspires lots of other riffs actually, when we just take the idea and modify it in various ways!! it's like the first sketch of a drawing, and then we can finish the drawing in so many different ways :))

    I love the rake that you do. It really pops on the Dark Funk lesson (I've learned the form and mostly got the timing, I've even got a good amount of the muting ... but that requires the most diligence). Here, too, you use the rake to great effect. I play with my fingers, but I should clearly work on playing with a pick.

    • @EricHaugenGuitar
      @EricHaugenGuitar  4 роки тому +1

      Ah yes - I think you can get away with using your fingers for the rake if you flick out with the nails side. I just tried it and it sounded pretty cool!
