I’m at the point where I want to incorporate rhythm and soloing (mostly maj & min pentatonic scale and starting to incorporate the major scale). This is a very helpful exercise, thank you.

I think I will! I’ve got this idea - I have two hats, one filled with scraps of paper indicating grooves, and another full of scales. Pick a scrap from each at random and see what happens!

I love the rake that you do. It really pops on the Dark Funk lesson (I've learned the form and mostly got the timing, I've even got a good amount of the muting ... but that requires the most diligence). Here, too, you use the rake to great effect. I play with my fingers, but I should clearly work on playing with a pick.
Ah yes - I think you can get away with using your fingers for the rake if you flick out with the nails side. I just tried it and it sounded pretty cool!
great exercise I find to work on may things at once. You mention Jerry Garcia. Who I dearly love. Would be sweet to see some of his material/techniques/licks/ whatever - in your channell. Just a thought, just a seed. Thank you Eric for your help .

It really pops on the Dark Funk lesson (I've learned the form and mostly got the timing, I've even got a good amount of the muting ... but that requires the most diligence). Here, too, you use the rake to great effect. I play with my fingers, but I should clearly work on playing with a pick.
Ah yes - I think you can get away with using your fingers for the rake if you flick out with the nails side. I just tried it and it sounded pretty cool!
