About Disney Dinosaur:
When a meteor shower destroys their home, iguanodon Aladar and his family join a herd of dinosaurs heading for safety. What scared me about this movie as a kid, is the fact that the carnotaurs were almost as smart as Aladar but didn't speak a word, meaning they cant be reasoned with.
EDIT: to all Carno lovers who like to act smart, I know that they're just trying to survive and they need to kill for food. my point wasnt them being evil, my point was them being scary.

This just proves: safety really IS in numbers. Even if you’re bigger and better armed than your opponents, if you’re up against dozens of them… good luck, that’s my only advice. And I think that first charge at the herd was meant to be a mock charge, which - for those who don’t know - is a tactic that predators sometimes use to try and panic a herd and make them flee so they can then target the weakest. I am sure the carnotaurus was not expecting Aladar to stand up to it like that, causing it to stop in its tracks in surprise.
Why is everyone forgetting about the fight between Aladar and Kron? The whole fight is a masterpiece

@@-Faze- You mean you want me to analyze the fight in terms of realism? Well, I’m certainly no expert paleontologist, or anything, but I could do my best… I’d say that if Iguanodon lived in herds that were dominated by an alpha male (say, the way horse and zebra herds are a group of females and their young led by a stallion), then two males would certainly battle for dominance the way Kron and Aladar do, in this clip. I find it likely that they would use the sharp claws on their front limbs to inflict injury to one another. This is just my best guess, as I said, I’m no expert, I just find animal behavior fascinating - and it sometimes makes more sense to me than any human behavior….

I love how Aladar never fought anyone in his entire life could be able to hold off Kron for a short time and then defeat a Carnotaur. He fought for love and life. Love how Neera showed both sorrow and anger towards her brother.

I always liked how Aladar doesn't hesitate at all to fight though and even knows some good instinctual tricks.

This movie is an underrated gem
I loved how Aladar might have never been in a fight but he was not afraid to fight Kron and held his own for a second

I mean technically Neera is the leader of the Herd now since she “Beat” Kron and by rule of Leadership Fights who ever bests the leader is the new leader of the herd

Hey, something that probably went un-noticed, Aladar looks to his left when all the herd starts bellowing at the carnotaurus. Look close, cause it’s easy to miss. I love that little detail.
The attention to detail in this movie is incredible. Aladar already knows that Neera's got his back but then everybody else steps up too and you can see the pride in his face when they do.
One of the most (perhaps unintentionally) life-affirming movie

I feel bad for those two young baby Iguanodons being physically abused and forced to climb the rocks by Kron especially when he gave one of them a hard push and hurting the other one in the process at 0:03-0:04.😢

Fun Fact: Kron's voice actor, Samuel E. Wright, also voices Sebastian from The Little Mermaid.
When I found out about this, I was genuinely surprised. He has exceptional talent for his ability to voice two drastically different characters.

Man, I sure enjoyed this movie alot.
Tho' as also a Disney fan that also grew up with the era that this movie's from besides Jetix,Pirates of the Carribean,TRON,Pixar, and the only classics that clicked me such as Winnie the Pooh,Tarzan,Hercules, and the Disney Afternoon/Toon Disney shows like Gargoyles and Jungle Cubs, if I was like Kron from this movie? I would've been a much better leader for the Disney fans when I'd be taking notes from Kron than both Iger and Chapek combined XD lol.

@@aladar488 Agreed. He was badly hurt, but at least Neera understood in that moment that she had to step in and break up the fight. Had she not done that, Aladar would’ve been killed, and then the carnotaur would’ve still showed up and started to kill off more of the herd with little to no resistance.
So yeah, still worth it imo.

When Kron crosses the line, Neera finally opens her eyes to what her brother really is: A monstrous creature. She now agrees with Aladar, and decides to do what is right: To safely get the herd past the Carnotaurus and to the nesting grounds, leaving behind the brothers whom she now despises

@@aladar488 The line was Kron attacking Aladar and damn near killing him when Aladar presented a safer route and tried to convince others to follow him - all out of pride, ego, and a need to be right.
That of all things apparently was the hill that Kron was willing to die on.

@@aladar488 Never said it was his fault. And for the record, he did defend himself, and he was doing okay until Kron threw sand in his eyes and followed up with a thumb spike to the chest and smacking him into some rocks.
@@Michael141- The attack that defeated Aladar was the thumb spike in the chest. Aladar stopped fighting, and retreated back with lowered head.

I always wondered as a kid, did they film real places and just VFX Dino’s into the background? I just ate me up because seeing the amount of texture in rocks was odd.

It was easily noticed, we were looking at his bud, but it was funny. Not that it didn’t cost Aladar a hard fight with wounds
Honestly, Kron was straight up unlikeable throughout the whole movie. Even though he's only the secondary antagonist, he made the film almost unwatchable. They never even gave us a reason to care for him (not even a personal tragedy, such as a dead son). He never even asked Aladar and Neera to forgive him at his deathbed. I did not shed a single tear for him when he died - I was rooting for the Carnotaurus to kill him.
One of the reasons I more prefer Universal's The Land Before Time over Disney's Dinosaur (did you also noticed how to the plots to both these dino films are virtually similar?).
Dude how could he ask for forgiveness? He died. 😂
And how is it similar? The fact that there are dinosaurs in it and they are traveling? That's like saying Jurassic Park/World is a ripoff of Godzilla because it has big reptiles destroying cities.

He might have been hateful, but at least we understood some of his pain, like how he lost his biological son. Kron, though, was never given a personal tragedy for us to care for him. At least Kerchak was able to swallow his pride.
No, that's not a good comparison. Too much of a reach. LBT and Disney's Dinosaur both involve a green valley.

In real life, most predators would hesitate and eventually back off from a herd this size standing against them.
It is realistic that predators can get thrown off and intimidated like this. It’s why you are supposed to make loud noise and spread your arms at predators like bears and wolves, it can actually make them think you are a threat even if you really stand no chance

James Newton Howard did a great score on that film, compared to Peter pan, king Kong, Raya and the last dragon, treasure planet, Atlantis the lost Empire.

In the original script alot of predators would have meant them cause they were supposed to travel more than threw the desert like rex spinosaurus a par of allosaurus and sarcosucus would have been in it and carno would have been traling them picking the weaker members off

I always thought it was out of acceleration or fear. Instead of facing another iguanodon like Aladar, Kron was facing off a predator. And he was all by himself at that point to. :,)
