    What you said about trading it off, keep the bike for at least 5 months.
    Statistics show that most motorcyclists have accidents on motorcycles that are still 5 months or newer to them, no matter if you';ve ridden for 1 month or 10 years, it's shown that you'll more likely to crash within 5 months of a bike that's new to you.
    Point of this? Learn the limits on the 300 before you trade up to a 500 or even 1100 (if you're staying in Rebel line-up those are the next options), it's important to learn your limits to learn where to improve/how to improve.
    *[THE REST IS LONG-WINDED BUT WITH GOOD INTENTIONS/IMPORTANT PSA'S]*
    Tips if you're a new rider:
    1. If you're in a turn, try to avoid adding throttle the same time you're adding more lean angle, it's an easy way to have tires slip out and you lowside crash.
    2. If you're in a turn, try to not be in the lowest gear possible, i.e. if you're doing a 25mph turn, maybe get into 2nd so that if you roll off the throttle you're not feeling a jerk/lurching that will/can offset your center of gravity and sometimes your front tire.
    3. If you haven't already, go take an MSF Course, it's the easiest way to get a motorcycle license, it's typically a 2 day thing, like 5 hours a day, it teaches you safe ways to ride and can give you an insurance discount as well.
    4. Last but by no means least, get some protection for your hands, and wear some boots that cover your ankles, the most common non-fatal injuries in the United States are wrist and ankle/foot fractures, likewise, look into a jacket with armor in the shoulder/back/ and elbow, I highsided over the handlebars and landed on my right shoulder, even with the padding in the jacket I had a hard time rotating my right shoulder for ~10 days, without shoulder padding? Dislocated shoulder/broken rotator cuff and possibly broken/fractured right collar bone.
    Be safe, if you go cheap on any gear/lack of impact-protection and lack of abrasion-resistance, you should do so with your pants, it is not often fatal to have road rash on your thigh/knee, but it hurts like a bitch. Get some boots over the ankle, gloves with palm sliders, hard or soft, and a jacket with ANY back protection, landing on your back without protection can be fatal or life altering, protect your back with impact absorption, not just a sweater that protects against roadrash.

      Thanks for all the great Info!!! I did do an msf course before I bought it. I actually bought it last summer but my commute is only 4 miles total so I didn’t rack up the miles. I do normally ride with gloves but the ones I have now are cheap and weird around my wrist so I just got new ones. I also did trade the bike in accidentally ;) you’ll see it posted soon!

      @Mark Andrews haha thank you. Yeah I just took it for a ride and came back and was sold. The bump in displacement made a massive difference. Faster, smoother and feels better cruising on the highway. I still adore the rebel and if I decide to go up in displacement again I’d heavily consider the rebel 1100 or a Indian scout bobber

    I initially started with a Honda Navi 7 months ago in my home country. Bought one here but I am not able to commute on interstate 66 because it doesn´t hit the 55 mph. So I went to the dealership and trade it for the 2022 Honda Rebel in the same color as yours and I took it on the interstate 66 in VA to test drive and it does very well. I don´t need it to drive to another state or to get on 70 mph highways. I only need it to commute in town and on 66 to get to the metro station from my house to get to DC. I would also drive it to DC if necessary on a 55 mph interstate and be happy with it.

    I keep seeing people say 55-60 Is to much for the rebel. I find that hard to believe cuz my pcx150 handles 65 no problem. No obnoxious vibrations or anything.

    • @mkecarconnection3808
      @mkecarconnection3808  2 роки тому +2

      I think 55-60 is fine if you have it in 6th gear to minimize the buzzing.

    Hi, I'm a female rider. I have a Rebel 300 2021. I love my bike and I did get for around town. It's perfect for me does what I need. I didn't get it for the highways. You enjoy your bike and ride safe.

      Sweet! Yeah if you can get around highways that’s great. I sadly can’t for some rides. But she’s great on the streets!

    Great bike. I had a CBR 300R same engine as the Rebel 300. just tuned different. I traded for a 2017 Rebel 500. It is great on the hwy. No vibration at 75 or 80.

    All depends on what you need it for. I have a 2019 300, turned it into a bobber, hate that rear fender. I just cruise around town and no highways. Works well for my intentions.

    Here in Australia they only offer the 500, which is a shame as the 300 is a fantastic starter bike and city cruiser. Good luck, looking forward to seeing how you two get along!

      @mkecarconnection3808  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah it’s a great city bike for sure. I think a 1100 is the move next year. I’ll be posting more about it soon!!

    I looked at a used 2021 Rebel 500 SE
    $ 6990 + tax, Approx $7,500 out the door- no discount - period.
    I kept my little Rebel 250. The problem is that the 500s are popular and hard to get.

    • @mkecarconnection3808
      @mkecarconnection3808  2 роки тому

      Yeah super popular. Even the 300’s. I had to go 80 miles to buy mine. Then a highway ride home later and realized she didn’t like the highways. Doable but eh.

    Great little bike 🏍 perfect for beginners as a matter of fact I wasn't ready to ride on the Interstate so when we picked it up from the dealership my husband drove her home on I-695 Baltimore beltway,, and I was behind him in my car 🚗 he had that little Rebel 300cc up to 70 mph ,, no problem but yes I agreed that these smaller bikes even the Harley Sportster which my husband has aren't good for long distance or long highway driving that's more for big Cruser bikes,, but anyhow for someone like me who has never ridden a motorcycle before and I went through the Harley Davidson academy it's great 👍🏻 for learning and improving your skills,,

    I disagree about the highway. On interstate freeway with fast flowing traffic, no I do not ride mine. On smaller highways between 55-70 it does just fine in 6th gear. It's going to be buzzy and yes your hands get tingly but anyone considering one has to understand it's a single cylinder and it is just the nature of the motorcycle. It does really shine around town but nobody should be scared to take it on the highway. As far as exhaust from my understanding the cat is built into the stock muffler so be aware of that if you decide to remove it for a slip on. The 500 has it built into the heads so you won't need a tune. Fully agree about the tach and the sound in first gear.

      I rode mine on interstate 66 which is 55 mph which is exactly what I need to commute from house to the metro station to go to work in DC.

    I agree with you 100% The Rebel 300 is more for Europe or other countries. In The US the 500 would be better.

    Hey bro, if this is your very first bike, I realized this in the video, don't ONLY turn off the killswitch (the switch on the right handlebar), turn off the key too, the battery will drain and die out. Motorcycle headlights do not turn off automatically since they don't turn off at all, and you can't jump/not recommended at all to, a motorcycle battery with a car battery, so if you have your motorcycle battery die in a parking lot, you're S.O.L. unless oyu wanna push that back home and plug it in.
    If you're in a habit of leaving the bike on though, do look at a Shorai Li-Ion battery, and if you go with a Lithium-Ion battery, make sure to check that if you buy a battery tender, it will work with Li-Ion batteries as well. RevZilla is your friend when it comes to finding motorcycle specific things like that.

    I have a 300 as my first bike going on 5 months. I take it on the interstate about 22 miles commuting to work and it rides really smooth at 65mph. I need to invest in a windscreen haha and I’d feel super comfortable. I’ve topped it out at 90 going down hill on the interstate and obviously uphill it has no pull. I wanted to take it on a 6 hour trip but it’s not made for that. Not saying it can’t be done but there are way better options. It’s a great first bike Learning how to maneuver and getting the basics down. I do want a faster bike at times but it prevents me from making stupid decisions and having big tires are a plus learning to turn. I’ve also have ran over a large rock or two the size of my fist in the middle of the road and they have helped me from not falling. I yearn for a sport bike though because they sound so good and that’s mostly the kind of bikes that I see where I stay. My biggest thing is sometimes I love the way it looks but then sometimes I just think it’s ugly. I bought it for how low the seat is because I’m a smaller guy but once I get comfortable and confident in my skills I’ll upgrade in time. That’s my experience along with everyone else’s. Ride safe! Oh and wear your gear please!

    Don’t trade the 300. It’s your 1st bike and I’m sure you’ll regret it. You can always use it to put around town. I have the 500 as a 1st bike and I plan on getting a sport bike lol and naked bike in the future. It’s good to have variety.
