    I think that amount of blocks to start is extravagant, I would use kindling and a log to start and put the bio blocks in 2 at a time for the next 5 to 6 hours.

      Hi David, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It would definitely work to start BIO BLOCKS with kindling and add wood if you'd like! The size and efficiency of your stove, and if you want to burn only BIO BLOCKS, are two factor to consider when deciding how many blocks to burn. Some people prefer to burn only BIO BLOCKS because they are clean, convenient and produce very little ash!

    My husband just picked up 15 packs of these from Ace and I just used them for the first time yesterday. I'm on the fence about whether I like them better than the other brand of blocks that we use. These took a tad longer to get started, but once I had a fire going, 5 blocks burned for 3 hours before I needed to add another.

    Always make sure you open the packs on a plastic sheet or better yet put the pack inside a container..The fine sawdust needle sized splinters get everywhere..They stick in your socks,carpet and just get stuck in soft cloth materials..You have to pick them out with tweezers..Knock the together a few times and the sawdust won't drop while you put them in the stove..

      Before packaging, BIO BLOCKS go through a shaker to prevent having loose sawdust in the packs. It is a wood product, however, so there will be some sawdust when you open the pack. The sawdust is easy to sweep up! I have found blocks to be much cleaner than firewood that potentially has bark, ants, and spiders that come into your home with the wood! It's always good to hear from customers. Thank you for your suggestions!

    Here's a tip : any more than 4 or 5 blocks in a stove that size, and you will " over-fire". That is, stove will be glowing red.
    I have used them over 5 years, and will use them again. Just be careful

      Good Morning Robert! I am glad that you enjoy burning BIO BLOCKS! It is important to know how many blocks you should burn at one time which depends on the size of your stove. It's also good to experiment with where your dampers are set. Thanks for sharing what has worked for you!

      I got a chimney fire from over firing blocks like this, they can get VERY VERY hot. Now I burn one half at the time. I've made a cradle for them to rest in from an old utensils strainer cut in half. I start it by burning 1/4 of a block cut up, with some kerosene. They are easy to cut up with hand saw, then divide with a large chisel and mallet, very quick to do actually). This video surprised me considering how litigious he USA is!

    What is the burn time on one block? Or what is the burn time on five blocks? Will it last as long as Duraflame ? Duraflame give you a time per log per weight of log.

    • @bioblocks9017

      Great questions! BIO BLOCKS are different than a wax log. We suggest burning BIO BLOCKS in a group, like you would burn traditional firewood. For this reason we don't give a burn time on one block. A 12 pack of BIO BLOCKS has a 4 hour burn time. This will vary depending on several factors. If you are having an outdoor fire, on a windy day, the BIO BLOCKS burn more quickly than in calm weather. If you are burning in a fireplace, or wood stove, you usually have more control over the draft. BIO BLOCKS give heat even after the flame dies down. If you want additional flame, add more blocks, or open your drafts further. Often wax logs, like Duraflame, are used for ambiance rather than heat. BIO BLOCKS deliver both heat and ambiance!

      Good Morning Mark, We do not plan on purchasing a press to make a compressed log. Our current equipment is designed to produce blocks. One of the advantages to making a block, versus a log, is that the packs are easier to stack! Please let me know if you have any more questions!

      Hi Stacy, The kind of stove you have does make a difference in the burn time of BIO BLOCKS. You will want to experiment on how many blocks to burn, and where to set your draft, to get an optimal burn. I would suggest starting with 8 blocks like I demonstrated in the video, unless you have a small firebox. You are correct! BIO BLOCKS do not have spiders, ants or other insects that sometimes come in your house on firewood.

    • @bioblocks9017
      @bioblocks9017  3 роки тому

      Good Morning Al, Absolutely! BIO BLOCKS can be used anywhere you would burn firewood! You can burn ONLY BIO BLOCKS, or mix them with wood, if you have branches that have fallen and you are trying to clean up your yard. You can cook over BIO BLOCKS too, since there are no chemicals added. One thing to keep in mind when burning them outside is that BIO BLOCKS must be kept dry! If you don't use them all in your fire pit, it's a good idea to take them inside just in case it rains overnight!

    3:15 "no trees are harvested to produce bio blocks")))
    The blocks are made from sawdust, and sawdust is a by-product of cutting trees.
    Hence: no trees cut = no sawdust = no bio blocks.

    What's the average burn time for one block?

    • @victoriamiller9511

      Hi Jason, We recommend burning BIO BLOCKS in group, much like you would firewood. This gives enough surface area to create a hot fire, in addition to ambience! The burn time on a pack of 12 blocks is 4 hours. This can vary depending if your fire is in a fireplace, or wood stove, where you can control the airflow. The burn time for an outside fire in a fire pit, chimenea or outdoor fireplace, will vary depending if it's a still or windy day. We don't recommend burning one block, however, I did just receive a testimonial from a lady who is burning one block in a mini wood stove. She said it is burning 2 plus hours in her Cubic Mini!

      Hi Brian,
      BIO BLOCKS should be burned more like firewood than a wax log. It is generally recommended that only one wax log is burned at a time. Hi Daniel, Thanks for the good question! Yes, BIO BLOCKS can be mixed with firewood. If you have already cut firewood, but would like your fire to last longer, add a few BIO BLOCKS. This will give you a longer, hotter burn. This is what I really like about BIO BLOCKS - they are so flexible!

      They are not expensive compared to cord wood. $218 for an entire pallet delivered where I live. You will pay at least $250 for a cord of seasoned wood dropped off in a pile. It is more expensive to purchase individual packs, yes. There are 12 blocks per pack for around $6.50. A pallet contains 88 packs of 12, or 1,056 blocks. When you purchase bulk you receive them for roughly $2.50 per pack of 12 - and the total amount is equal to 1.5 cords of hardwood.

    3:13 This is such a confusing sentence. To create sawdust you are almost always doing something that's not good for the environment, this includes harvesting wood.

    • @victoriamiller9511
      @victoriamiller9511 3 роки тому +6

      I appreciate your comment and allowing me to clarify my statement. Our company does not directly harvest trees, however, wood is needed to produce many products. Sawdust is a by-product of furniture and hardwood floor manufacturers. Companies like these always find it challenging to get rid of their waste product. Converting sawdust to a usable product, such as BIO BLOCKS, is more environmentally friendly than hauling it to a landfill. The businesses that we purchase sawdust from are happy to find a home for their sawdust, and our customers are happy to have an alternative to traditional wood!
