Bruh I’ve been saying this for the past 3 years. Community is toxic. Make the same builds and say the game is trash if they don’t shoot 70 percent from 3. Every pg has 99 3 ball rating 95 ball handle 91 speed with ball. No passing. No defense except a high steal. And the 6’7 of with 90 something strength and legend brick wall.

Dudes will and have their man beat just to pull back as soon as you pass it, causing a turnover. Big that can’t rebound or set screens. 2-3 ppl running towards the ball, brining 2 additional defenders to the ball handler. Also, there as too many PGs. Nearly every game I go in, there is a pg at the 1 and 2.

You can have the best meta build out there and if you don’t know how to control and operate on the sticks it’s useless. The community has always been the issue trying to find that edge and it just takes you so far away from having fun and playing basketball.
That's what I used to love about a new 2k 😢 I would go to the lab, Spend at least 2hrs just trying to learn new moves and animations. It takes me one to two weeks before I brought out my new build. Then play the same build plus a passing PG because ofc everyone is a PG but doesn't pass the ball😅. And have fun all year. Also saves money on builds instead of 8 to 10

I made a “Offense Heavy Point”. A pg build with a 93 pass acc because I was tired of playing with iso pg’s as my teammates. I can shoot 3’s, mids, dunk, dribble and play some defense. I always pass first and work to get my teammates open and encourage them to score. That’s what a pg should do. I create shots only when I need to. I wish the community would be more encouraging and not call people garbage after the first 2 minutes of the first quarter. The gameplay does need some more polishing and work, sure. But it’s the community that makes it hard because they don’t play team basketball. We need to be better.

I've said this since 2K22. When everyone was saying how bad that game was....then 23 dropped and people claimed that was the the worst game. It's literally the community. And that's not to say that 2K isn't flawed because the game is clearly flawed in many ways, so I'm not giving them a pass because they play a integral part in this game being bad as well but a lot of the issues as far as "fun" and enjoyment goes is the fault of the community.
Ever since my teammates and I stopped running the same boring meta line up (pg, lock, 6’7 big) we started having more fun on this game. We are a 17th ranked team in proam 3s and our pg is a 6’9 lebron build 😂
I don’t remember the last time I copied a build exactly. I always make a build that fits my play style. This is my first year making pro tuned builds too, it’s been pretty fun.

Duke is right..im lucky enough to have multiple builds. If im feeling fresh i play with a guard, if im frustrated i jump to a masher big. So if i want to chill i got builds if i want to get heavy i got a build. Keeps the game different a bit cause they all got different skills.
Its problem isn't that everyone plays the same, the problem is that there are thousands of animations which would make for a variety of plays styles, but only 2 or 3 in each category are effective so when someone wants to go in and go against the grain there at huge disadvantage an it shows! If every animation was effective across the board then u will see different styles, and people would be having more fun, in my opinion...
That’s false. There are a ton of animations that are effective. No one wants to try them. Yes Zach lavine step back is the best but there are many others that work very good as well. Just one example. Haliburton pass style is the best. Yes. Mike Conley and Darius Garland are really good as well (doesn’t matter because 95 percent of the community doesn’t put up pass accuracy any way). People look to UA-camrs for animations instead of trying them theirselves and seeing what works for them.

This also needs to be said. Because yes it really wasn’t until creators started spamming videos to compete against each other to gain views that we got this super focus on meta. And it created a feedback loop of people following the meta even if they’re trash and they can play better than their skill suggests which then makes other people go and make something to counteract that even at the expense of fun.
Bruh it’s their job to make content and make titles to get viewers. It still boils down to the community to be bots and follow exactly what they say. I watch tons of videos but do I copy exactly? No. I’ve never made a build because a creator made a video on one.
Brute Squad we in the building. If I was to give my humblest opinion, the issue started when 2K created so many badges and a lot of them proved to be ineffective leading to a couple for sure builds. Secondly, so many want to be comp and lose the reason they are playing. Lastly, if every aspect of the game was good (inside scoring, outside scoring, passing, effective dribble moves, and great defense) with slightly tighter restrictions in the builder, it would be a great game. Every year they say play to your play style but nerf defense, passing animations but only 4 are good.. we need more options to have variety and not the bs they give us. And it needs to be tested before launch
I've said the same thing, about the badges at least. A few badges here and there were fine, but once they began heavily emphasizing them, it became about "gaming" instead of "hooping", if that makes sense.

one of the biggest problems is the selling and grading people can literally ice u out the game and start selling and have an B+ grade 2k used to grade u out with 30+ points for just playing bad. people make builds with things they can’t even do good at 2k
Played proam all weekend. When we hit platinum damn near all the team ran the exact same line up Duke said. My squad runs 2 PGs and a big. We identify the lock on the other team and give the ball to man guarded my the other team’s PG which essentially nullifies the lockdown. We also rarely do PNR. I don’t think most teams are used to it.
A lot of people run the same guard lock big meta because it’s usually the most efficient. If 2k makes other play styles effective as well more variety of builds will be used. That’s why 2k20 was so good you could win with many different play styles and builds.

My squad don't play that way, we actually move the ball and stay in constant movement. I could never just sit in the corner and watch one person take 10 plus shots every game.

Facts. I have became a casual since last year so I mainly plan solo with randoms and I find i still have fun. Win or lose I still have fun. I play about 2 rec games a night. Sweating was cool back then but I'm at a different place in my life and I still find fun in 2k

I usually play on my 6’10, I make my own builds (tall dribbling players) I always been that way since 2k15. 15 and 16 I had a 6’7 guard. 17 and 18 6’10 hell even 19 I had a 6’10, 2k20 6’8 play glass, 23 6’9 and 6’10. 2k25 I play mostly on my 6’10, I just love taller builds cuz I’m faster than the strongest and usually stronger than the fastest. It’s a whole different way u have to play, I don’t have all them fast dribble moves so I really have to dribble to get my buckets. Nowadays everybody follows the meta. Just yesterday me and homie went to the ante up on some casual ish, boyyyy we got spanked. Guard doing 1000 dribble moves just to get 1 bucket and was straight 3 hunting 😂. I’m like damn does he ever get bored of doing the same thing every time

This video is so spot on. I have fun playing 3v3 Theater (randoms) and rec randoms. I don't have anyone to run with during the week, but I make it fun playing with different people. I also switch up between my day 1 6'5" 2-Way Sharpshooting Creator and my 6'11" 2-Way Inside The Arc Threat. 2k25 is FUN.

The issue with the game is the creators. They play the game night in and out and drop builds, lineups and playstyles that most use because it’s proven to work. This limits the different game modes because it’s true, when you go to the park, you’re gonna see the same lineups
I said this multiple times I don’t see how ppl rely on a pg to score all of their points consistently… I will never be a consistent corner sitter no matter what position im playing in 3s.. I make 5+ builds a year because I like having variety.. I enjoy playing 1-5 positions and if one gets boring im switching

I agree, I've been saying that every build has the same animations and playstyle. The rec playstyle is the same as well 2-3 zone defense, Blitz the pg, and hide behind multiple screens for 5 years it has been like that. Also pro play is cap 2 nba players shouldn't have the same signature animations. Mycareer story has been declining.

@@UnivalentpureG ok I’m with you on that. That’s why I led with maybe not you. Those animations where the ball warps back to the offensive player drive me crazy. Or the one where you have your defender beat but it slows you down and they are able to get in front (or the side) of you for the block. I’m not calling it broken per se but I understand some of it…. It’s an animation based game with a ton of things going on behind the scenes. They have to try to make defense and offense close to even as possible. Some of the animations are just brutal. I don’t expect any sports game to be perfect. I think the game as far as gameplay is in a decent space. Just needs some fine tuning with animations amongst other things.
Problem is meta because a lot of other builds, moves and jumpshots are just not good. People like to win and winning is fun and unfortunately most times you gotta run meta to win, not saying it’s the only way to win, but to win at a high rate meta is usually the route people go.
yes they can, give more rep for playing with a unique lineup, and I mean like 5x rep 2v2 3v3 and 5v5...everyone knows the meta lineup so if your run it, the game should register it as meta line up, just like b06 when you use all blue perks. and make assist the most rep for individual players, and make the rewards great, and worth the grind and player will change .....its really easy 2k don't think outside the box

You can’t continuously put out a half ass game every year and expect the community to be happy. I think lack of effort and failing to continuously improve is the problem with 2k. Either make the game cycles longer than a year or actually release a new product every year and improve the quality of your product every year
Sadly it’s 1000 percent easier to go with a do it all meta build then anything else when it cost 100 a build. They should allow 1 reset per character at 99 but they too greedy.

To your point about Mario right...I've always been a pretty diverse gamer I just got into 2k a few years ago(kinda regret it but I have fun 😂) and you are honestly super right about hard games. So much so the casual gaming community tried to complain the difficulty of the soulsborne series(you know dark souls elden ring ect) out of the game! They wanted fromsoft to include difficulty sliders to ease the challenge instead of get better. Incredible point about gaming some of us have been screaming about for years. A challenge is fun idk when being able to beat a game easily became fun but im feeling like Xbox 360 gamer score had a lot to do with it but....that's a different can of worms

It’s not only that, it’s an abundance of things. For starters they still haven’t fixes the servers, gameplay is very slow, the continuously nerfing attributes, too many animations, and my biggest issue of all not being able to control your player. Every game is copy and paste, 2K is to fix these issues and the game will be fine that’s just my opinion.

There's a gang of legacy issues that will continue to ruin the gaming experience as well. Examples: vacuum screens, green windows attatched to shot bases instead of shot rating, certain animations being more effective than others. Until devs take the time to address the issues that make the "meta" so appealing to people whose sole focus is on winning, these issues will persist. My skill and ratings should matter more than the animations I have equipped. We, the gamers, can only play what is given to us. Still holding out hope for a quality NBA Live return.
I disagree with the Mario take. Elden Ring, God of War, and Black Myth Wukong are popular games that have that level of difficulty and people don’t beg for those games to be patched. Similarly I don’t see a lot of people in the 2k community play games like that because honestly, they aren’t good enough. They learn cheese and think mastering exploits make you good.
2K IMO should drop height requirements on animations and also should give a few more points for us to cook up in the builder, open the game up remove the red tape and let folks get creative

2k community is for sure the biggest problem with 2k
Thank you. I say it in the comments under every video. 2k can’t fix the community. This community makes it the hardest to be a PG. Dudes will and have their man beat just to pull back as soon as you pass it, causing a turnover. Big that can’t rebound or set screens. 2-3 ppl running towards the ball, brining 2 additional defenders to the ball handler. Also, there as too many PGs. Nearly every game I go in, there is a pg at the 1 and 2.

You can have the best meta build out there and if you don’t know how to control and operate on the sticks it’s useless. The community has always been the issue trying to find that edge and it just takes you so far away from having fun and playing basketball.

That's what I used to love about a new 2k 😢 I would go to the lab, Spend at least 2hrs just trying to learn new moves and animations. It takes me one to two weeks before I brought out my new build. Then play the same build plus a passing PG because ofc everyone is a PG but doesn't pass the ball😅. And have fun all year. Also saves money on builds instead of 8 to 10

I made a “Offense Heavy Point”. A pg build with a 93 pass acc because I was tired of playing with iso pg’s as my teammates. I can shoot 3’s, mids, dunk, dribble and play some defense. I always pass first and work to get my teammates open and encourage them to score. That’s what a pg should do. I create shots only when I need to. I wish the community would be more encouraging and not call people garbage after the first 2 minutes of the first quarter. The gameplay does need some more polishing and work, sure. But it’s the community that makes it hard because they don’t play team basketball. We need to be better.

I've said this since 2K22. When everyone was saying how bad that game was....then 23 dropped and people claimed that was the the worst game. It's literally the community. And that's not to say that 2K isn't flawed because the game is clearly flawed in many ways, so I'm not giving them a pass because they play a integral part in this game being bad as well but a lot of the issues as far as "fun" and enjoyment goes is the fault of the community.
Ever since my teammates and I stopped running the same boring meta line up (pg, lock, 6’7 big) we started having more fun on this game. We are a 17th ranked team in proam 3s and our pg is a 6’9 lebron build 😂
I don’t remember the last time I copied a build exactly. I always make a build that fits my play style. This is my first year making pro tuned builds too, it’s been pretty fun.

Duke is right..im lucky enough to have multiple builds. If im feeling fresh i play with a guard, if im frustrated i jump to a masher big. So if i want to chill i got builds if i want to get heavy i got a build. Keeps the game different a bit cause they all got different skills.

Its problem isn't that everyone plays the same, the problem is that there are thousands of animations which would make for a variety of plays styles, but only 2 or 3 in each category are effective so when someone wants to go in and go against the grain there at huge disadvantage an it shows! If every animation was effective across the board then u will see different styles, and people would be having more fun, in my opinion...
That’s false. There are a ton of animations that are effective. No one wants to try them. Yes Zach lavine step back is the best but there are many others that work very good as well. Just one example. Haliburton pass style is the best. Yes. Mike Conley and Darius Garland are really good as well (doesn’t matter because 95 percent of the community doesn’t put up pass accuracy any way). People look to UA-camrs for animations instead of trying them theirselves and seeing what works for them.

This also needs to be said. Because yes it really wasn’t until creators started spamming videos to compete against each other to gain views that we got this super focus on meta. And it created a feedback loop of people following the meta even if they’re trash and they can play better than their skill suggests which then makes other people go and make something to counteract that even at the expense of fun.

If I was to give my humblest opinion, the issue started when 2K created so many badges and a lot of them proved to be ineffective leading to a couple for sure builds. Secondly, so many want to be comp and lose the reason they are playing. Lastly, if every aspect of the game was good (inside scoring, outside scoring, passing, effective dribble moves, and great defense) with slightly tighter restrictions in the builder, it would be a great game. Every year they say play to your play style but nerf defense, passing animations but only 4 are good.. we need more options to have variety and not the bs they give us. And it needs to be tested before launch
I've said the same thing, about the badges at least. A few badges here and there were fine, but once they began heavily emphasizing them, it became about "gaming" instead of "hooping", if that makes sense.

Played proam all weekend. When we hit platinum damn near all the team ran the exact same line up Duke said. My squad runs 2 PGs and a big. We identify the lock on the other team and give the ball to man guarded my the other team’s PG which essentially nullifies the lockdown.
We also rarely do PNR. I don’t think most teams are used to it.
A lot of people run the same guard lock big meta because it’s usually the most efficient. If 2k makes other play styles effective as well more variety of builds will be used. That’s why 2k20 was so good you could win with many different play styles and builds.

Facts. I have became a casual since last year so I mainly plan solo with randoms and I find i still have fun. Win or lose I still have fun. I play about 2 rec games a night. Sweating was cool back then but I'm at a different place in my life and I still find fun in 2k
3:05 nah duke ain’t lying I realized when I play by myself and not my homies I have more fun, I don’t need to sweat. I usually play on my 6’10, I make my own builds (tall dribbling players) I always been that way since 2k15. 15 and 16 I had a 6’7 guard. 17 and 18 6’10 hell even 19 I had a 6’10, 2k20 6’8 play glass, 23 6’9 and 6’10. 2k25 I play mostly on my 6’10, I just love taller builds cuz I’m faster than the strongest and usually stronger than the fastest. It’s a whole different way u have to play, I don’t have all them fast dribble moves so I really have to dribble to get my buckets. Nowadays everybody follows the meta. Just yesterday me and homie went to the ante up on some casual ish, boyyyy we got spanked. Guard doing 1000 dribble moves just to get 1 bucket and was straight 3 hunting 😂. I’m like damn does he ever get bored of doing the same thing every time

I also switch up between my day 1 6'5" 2-Way Sharpshooting Creator and my 6'11" 2-Way Inside The Arc Threat. 2k25 is FUN.

The issue with the game is the creators. They play the game night in and out and drop builds, lineups and playstyles that most use because it’s proven to work. This limits the different game modes because it’s true, when you go to the park, you’re gonna see the same lineups
I said this multiple times I don’t see how ppl rely on a pg to score all of their points consistently… I will never be a consistent corner sitter no matter what position im playing in 3s.. I make 5+ builds a year because I like having variety.. I enjoy playing 1-5 positions and if one gets boring im switching

I agree, I've been saying that every build has the same animations and playstyle. The rec playstyle is the same as well 2-3 zone defense, Blitz the pg, and hide behind multiple screens for 5 years it has been like that. Also pro play is cap 2 nba players shouldn't have the same signature animations. Mycareer story has been declining.

@@UnivalentpureG ok I’m with you on that. That’s why I led with maybe not you. Those animations where the ball warps back to the offensive player drive me crazy. Or the one where you have your defender beat but it slows you down and they are able to get in front (or the side) of you for the block. I’m not calling it broken per se but I understand some of it…. It’s an animation based game with a ton of things going on behind the scenes. They have to try to make defense and offense close to even as possible. Some of the animations are just brutal. I don’t expect any sports game to be perfect. I think the game as far as gameplay is in a decent space. Just needs some fine tuning with animations amongst other things.

You can test combos in the builder for free.....outside of the starter 4 animations. Make a build with certain ratings test them out in the builder

Problem is meta because a lot of other builds, moves and jumpshots are just not good. People like to win and winning is fun and unfortunately most times you gotta run meta to win, not saying it’s the only way to win, but to win at a high rate meta is usually the route people go.
yes they can, give more rep for playing with a unique lineup, and I mean like 5x rep 2v2 3v3 and 5v5...everyone knows the meta lineup so if your run it, the game should register it as meta line up, just like b06 when you use all blue perks. and make assist the most rep for individual players, and make the rewards great, and worth the grind and player will change .....its really easy 2k don't think outside the box

You can’t continuously put out a half ass game every year and expect the community to be happy. I think lack of effort and failing to continuously improve is the problem with 2k. Either make the game cycles longer than a year or actually release a new product every year and improve the quality of your product every year
Sadly it’s 1000 percent easier to go with a do it all meta build then anything else when it cost 100 a build. They should allow 1 reset per character at 99 but they too greedy.

To your point about Mario right...I've always been a pretty diverse gamer I just got into 2k a few years ago(kinda regret it but I have fun 😂) and you are honestly super right about hard games. So much so the casual gaming community tried to complain the difficulty of the soulsborne series(you know dark souls elden ring ect) out of the game! They wanted fromsoft to include difficulty sliders to ease the challenge instead of get better. Incredible point about gaming some of us have been screaming about for years. A challenge is fun idk when being able to beat a game easily became fun but im feeling like Xbox 360 gamer score had a lot to do with it but....that's a different can of worms

For starters they still haven’t fixes the servers, gameplay is very slow, the continuously nerfing attributes, too many animations, and my biggest issue of all not being able to control your player. Every game is copy and paste, 2K is to fix these issues and the game will be fine that’s just my opinion.

There's a gang of legacy issues that will continue to ruin the gaming experience as well. Examples: vacuum screens, green windows attatched to shot bases instead of shot rating, certain animations being more effective than others. Until devs take the time to address the issues that make the "meta" so appealing to people whose sole focus is on winning, these issues will persist. My skill and ratings should matter more than the animations I have equipped. We, the gamers, can only play what is given to us. Still holding out hope for a quality NBA Live return.

I disagree with the Mario take. Elden Ring, God of War, and Black Myth Wukong are popular games that have that level of difficulty and people don’t beg for those games to be patched.
