you can thank Al Stoker (Stoker Sport Tunnel) for designing and building that boat. He ended Hydrostreams reign as the fastest boats in Mod VP with that hull. I had one beat my Viking with one until I put a 200 Black max on it and before working on the engine it went 10 mph faster. Ive seen SSts with Merc Mod VPs running over 100 mph. Theyre stable and very fast compared to a Hydrostream and wont chine walk. Nice boat by the way, I love watching the vid.

Excited to see the blackmax stuff! I have an '89 XR4 on my Baker Tunnel, its been a great motor. Just an FYI, I don't know if your 2.4 200 has the 2 yellow wire stator and water cooled rectifier, but if it does then I strongly suggest replacing that with the 40 amp 4 yellow wire stator with the (2) individual 20 amp regulator/rectifiers. Those water cooled regulator/rectifiers are kind of a ticking time bomb. They are known to fail and catch fire, and the only way to put it out is to disconnect the battery completely before blasting it with an extinguisher. Besides that, if yours is in working condition you can remove it and sell it on ebay for $300+ which will easily pay for the swap, not to mention the 2 wire stator is worth around $200 as well.
Here are the part numbers for the stator and rectifiers I'm suggesting:
    stator- 174-9610k 2
    regulator- 194-5279

    • @ryancollins2483
      @ryancollins2483 2 роки тому

No problem, I’ll give you another one too.
Your motor probably has an idle timing/max spark advance module. It’s a black box usually mounted above the port cylinder head with 3 wires. It’s got red/white, white/black, and black for ground.
Take that piece of garbage off and set your max rpm timing to 21-23* cranking. That’ll equate to 16-18* running.
What that box does is allegedly 2 things:
      1) Bump your timing up 4* at idle when you shift into gear to help stop it from dying, which with a correct idle rpm setting is a non issue.
      2) This is the reason they throw these away. It is supposed to retard your timing at wide open throttle by up to 4* to maintain a 5700 rpm redline. HOWEVER, these boxes often fail and throw erroneous signals ADVANCING your timing at WOT and shooting a piston out the side of your block.
It’s a known fact that these 2.4/2.5 blackmax motors can easily run well into the 6500 rpm range with the oil injection deleted and premixed 40:1, an electric fuel pump (I can give you info on that too), and the right propeller.
There is no reason for the timing module at all. None of the performance MERC’s have them, so a lot of people suspect it was an attempt to keep 150/175/200 motors from making the actual power they were capable of.

Yes!!!! it's boating time! The I/O is a looker. When you get the 2.4 wrung out and skint......ohhh yeah. it will be a runner. I'm pretty sure that Sarah has only been exposed to modded mercs.. Her BWAAAAPPP off of idle has strong hints of lighter flywheel, high compression and open exhaust.

75/25 for MIG welding. Straight argon is for TIG welding. Also, make sure you are not using gas AND flux core wire. Check to make sure you have a good ground. If there is rust where your ground clamp is, grind or sand it off. Clean metal at the ground point. ~100-120 amps for .250" steel. Adjust wire speed and wire stick out so it sounds like sizzling bacon. Pretty sure your issue was gas.

Ark welders are better for first timers with 5/³² size rod at a 60-13 or. 60-11 ,, 13 is a colder burning rod good for welding over cracks ... Now 60-11 is a hotter burning rod for good penetration / with these 2 rods you can weld almost any tipped of metal ......

Was your Sleekcraft always set up as an out drive? I had a 1975 18' Sleekcraft that was set up as a jet drive. 455 Olds engine, Berkley jet, with a jetavator. Where your throttle is, mine was the reverse gate. The throttle was a hot foot.

@@carllafrance5510 Shoot a video of it and upload it! You don't need to get fancy with editing, but it sounds cool and I'm sure lots of people would love to see it! Sounds really fun, aluminum boats don't weigh anything, and their strength is pretty nuts as well. You just cannot get the forms required for really high speed easily from aluminum without a ton of fab work.
Check out some of my other vids when you get a chance, I'm restoring an 86 SST and going as hard as I possibly can on it; full composite build, coosa, honeycomb panels, woven/biax/cloth layers, full knee braces, etc. Hoping for 80mph+ out of it, but I'm overbuilding it so you'll be able to hang almost anything on it. We built the boat that found Franklin's shipwreck for parks canada to check on the health ofthe shipwrecks in the fathom five under water park in tobermory to see if they were still safe for divers
It was there for 2years then they took it to Ottawa it sat in the parking lot for a couple of years a homeless person moved on and lived on it for a year they didn't know he was there then they took it to Quebec put it on an exploration vessel and took it to the artic it ended up on the icebreaker sir Wilfred Laurie
The day they found Franklin's shipwreck
for over100 years the inuit told them were it was but nobody listens to them
They were going to search a channel 20imilesfrom there over night ithe ice pushed them down the channel they flew up the channel with a helicopter seen the channel was clogged
But it was clear where the inuit said it was
since they went going anywhere any way somebody suggested maby they should take a look ?
They figured it was a waste of time so they flipped a coin to see if they should go or not ?
It was right there they found it within 40 minutes
The expedition leader was on an expedition ship 75 miles away ithey flew him in by helicopter it was kept hush hush till harper got up there and got brownie points for the discovery
The inuit told them where the other ship was also they even had pictures of it with people standing beside the masts sticking out of the ice from the 1950s
All they had to do was go over there
Rumor has it when Franklin left the inuit went on board and started cleaning it off They found a dead guy so the put everything back and never went back
