Alliance of workers' organizations called on the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to immediately identify, relieve and detain all cops involved in the recent killing of veteran trade union organizer Jude Thaddeus Fernandez pending an investigation.
Fernandez - a member of the progressive Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) and a trade unionist since the Martial Law era - was killed in his home in Binangonan, Rizal last September 29 in an incident dubbed as an "extrajudicial killing."
Fernandez is said to be the 72nd victim of labor-related killings since 2016 and the fourth after the International Labor Organization (ILO) High Level Tripartite Mission last January 2023.
KMK claims that the killing of Ka Jude and other unionists is an attack against all Filipino workers and their rightful demand for higher wages, better working conditions, and democratic right to join and form unions.
"If the government is serious about bringing justice to Ka Jude, the PNP-CIDG should stop concocting fabricated stories to cover up the operation they carried out against the victim," KMK continued.
Farmers Jover and Aimee Villegas were gunned down by the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Sitio Basak, Luna in Placer, Masbate. Villegas was reportedly tending to his carabao when he was shot by the military. Upon hearing the gunshot, Aimee rushed to check on her husband and was also shot. the victims were reportedly brutally shot until Villegas’ face was crushed and after which his eyes were gouged out.
The 2nd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (IBPA) later CLAIMED( without solid evidence) that the two were members of the New People’s Army (NPA).
Meanwhile, in Sitio Lubi, Barangay Tabugon in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, six people were reportedly massacred by elements of the 47th IBPA. The six were reportedly unarmed and aboard a tricycle when the military fired at them, but later reporting was that the victims were killed in a 10-minute armed encounter. one victim however, Ruben Gaitan was just a tricycle driver contracted by the group to transport them.
Ruben Gaitan’s kin strongly refuted earlier claims of the military that he was an NPA member, but a worker in a sugar milling company in the city who also plies a motorcycle during his free time or after work.
Ruben’s sister, told media of the family's dismay at the military who tagged his brother as one of the members of the New People’s Army (NPA), and was “brutally killed.”
Ruben Gaitan's sister said the spiel of the military calling their brother a communist rebel was a usual narrative to cover up their lapses every time they kill a civilian. These are some of the fact that's been really happening without the knowledge of those people who easily judge their fellowmen.

Alliance of workers' organizations called on the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to immediately identify, relieve and detain all cops involved in the recent killing of veteran trade union organizer Jude Thaddeus Fernandez pending an investigation.
Fernandez - a member of the progressive Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) and a trade unionist since the Martial Law era - was killed in his home in Binangonan, Rizal last September 29 in an incident dubbed as an "extrajudicial killing."
Fernandez is said to be the 72nd victim of labor-related killings since 2016 and the fourth after the International Labor Organization (ILO) High Level Tripartite Mission last January 2023.
KMK claims that the killing of Ka Jude and other unionists is an attack against all Filipino workers and their rightful demand for higher wages, better working conditions, and democratic right to join and form unions.
"If the government is serious about bringing justice to Ka Jude, the PNP-CIDG should stop concocting fabricated stories to cover up the operation they carried out against the victim," KMK continued.
Farmers Jover and Aimee Villegas were gunned down by the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Sitio Basak, Luna in Placer, Masbate. Villegas was reportedly tending to his carabao when he was shot by the military. Upon hearing the gunshot, Aimee rushed to check on her husband and was also shot. the victims were reportedly brutally shot until Villegas’ face was crushed and after which his eyes were gouged out.
The 2nd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (IBPA) later CLAIMED( without solid evidence) that the two were members of the New People’s Army (NPA).
Meanwhile, in Sitio Lubi, Barangay Tabugon in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, six people were reportedly massacred by elements of the 47th IBPA. The six were reportedly unarmed and aboard a tricycle when the military fired at them, but later reporting was that the victims were killed in a 10-minute armed encounter. one victim however, Ruben Gaitan was just a tricycle driver contracted by the group to transport them.
Ruben Gaitan’s kin strongly refuted earlier claims of the military that he was an NPA member, but a worker in a sugar milling company in the city who also plies a motorcycle during his free time or after work.
Ruben’s sister, told media of the family's dismay at the military who tagged his brother as one of the members of the New People’s Army (NPA), and was “brutally killed.”
Ruben Gaitan's sister said the spiel of the military calling their brother a communist rebel was a usual narrative to cover up their lapses every time they kill a civilian.
