Thanks for checking it out...Yeah it’s funny how easy it is to forget about the most powerful tool we have as musicians...Melody! Harmonizing the scale is a nice bonus for sure that adds a little more depth to the concept. Super happy to share what I know, I hope it comes in handy next time you’re playing this tune
Hey! That’s really nice of you to say…I’m not sure how to teach that element of my playing to folks. Feel and dynamics within a line are usually an intuitive, personal thing…but I must have picked it up by listening to better players than myself over the years. Thanks for noticing it…very kind.
Beautiful playing and an equally great lesson. You helped crack the code to those jazzy soloing runs Jerry injects in his playing. Especially with Eyes of the World which I still don't but getting there. ;) Do you have a lesson on EOTW? I'll take a look. Thanks again, you're a talented player.
@@roamlikekane Thank you! Yes I do have a lesson on EOTW. You should find a short/preview a long form lesson of the same solo with note for note breakdowns and then if that doesn’t work you can buy Tabs of the solo for $12 via PayPal. There’s a few other resources you may want to explore. I have a series of lessons done as a live stream. There’s a few dedicated to EOTW including the 10/19/74 Winterland changes. I also offer private lessons… Happy hunting and good luck! JD
@@jacksnax4guitar460 Ty! Yea I found the EOTW video on your channel and thanks for the info! Btw are your tabs for for his solos or your solos that you do in the video? Moreover do you provide tabs for anything that you perform in all of your videos? Like for example if I want to learn a section I found in one of your improvised solos in your livestream or any other you're saying that you'll isolate said section and create a tablature for it? Or or in addition to do you have all of Jerry's solos studio recordings or selected live recordings tablatured for sale?
@@roamlikekaneHi… tabs are for the solo in the video. Like an answer key. As for tabbing out something else that you like…I’m happy to have my transcriptionist give it a go. I’ll charge whatever he charges me… if he’ll do it, I’m happy to set it up for you. Best, J
Your playing is what I inspire to. Every video you have I've seen has had value to me in some way. Seriously one riff you play can unlock doors for me.. few questions... Do you have a band and is it on UA-cam? Any chance you could do a rhythm series? When you said E mixo a lot started clicking. Can expand on that type of (what Jerry was probably thinking) info for future lessons? Many thanks
You’re welcome! That’s a really nice comment. Im actually not playing live right now, but I’m trying to put together a thing. When it’s up and running, I’ll put up some vids. Rhythm? Sure I guess I can break down the way I look at playing rhythm guitar. The problem I see is there’s lots of ways to do it and it greatly depends on genre. E mixo is E Mixolydian. That’s the same notes as A major (Ionian). But lines need to resolve to the 1,3,5 of E. Modes are really easy to get confused by. I can’t speak about what JG was thinking, I can see patterns and tendencies. But in truth he was really broad based… so much there, and constantly evolving. Again… you’re welcome, and thanks for tuning in and making comments! Jack
I love the chord-y run but on what is based upon? I can hear the melody there but how can reliably get there with two notes at the same time without fumbling? Is it based on a specific scale \ chord road map to follow?
Great lesson - must've watched 100 times by now! Are the tabs on Jdarks (linking to this page) supposed to correlate with a specific time frame of your playing in the video?
Huh? I didn’t know this was linked from Jdarks. Not a problem that it is… but I can only assume that he has this listed as an alternative resource. He’s a good guy and a mensch! Thanks for watching… I don’t do tabs (for guitar at least🤣) I think it’s better to use your ear. Try slowing it down so it’s easier to play along with. It’s shocking how helpful that is when learning… lessons too. Not just from me (though I do teach) but getting another person involved usually helps. Best, Jack
@@jacksnax4guitar460 initially I was reading through his transcription, then clicked the link and was shocked. Having seen your lesson prior to exploring what JDarks had for the song, I thought that somehow you two were connected! Pretty impressive stuff

better than all the others
you have some jerry in you
i dig it
Great lesson. This is one of my favorite songs to play and listen to. You gave me some great ideas and some new avenues to explore. Thank you!
Happy to help!
I loved the lesson. I really like the chord particle riffs at end of lesson. Thx

Thanks!
Great lesson brother love your style I can tell you have some deep roots in jazz.
Awesome video! Helped so much... For years I've just been doing emixolydian with pretty dull results but this immediately brightened the palate
So happy to hear that...glad to help
What rally hit me here is that its all abut well placed accents

The trick is finding a rhythm section that actually supports these approaches. Very hard to find harmonically mature players here…

It’s the melody and then harmony is in 3rds.
Scale: E Mixolydian same notes as A major…
Thanks for the comment!
