R.I.P. unfortunately for all of us, you are gone, fortunately for all of us, your voice and music will be immortalized.

Walter i must admit that i have been obsessing lately. I lost my last remaining brother to alcoholism last month, and in grief i keep being brought back to Dolores Oriordan, and it some how makes it easier to cry over the two of them together than one at a time! It is so easy to just label some one, "addict". That is a mechanism we use to detach their humanity from them while we relegate them into a corner. Dolores defies that. My brother James defies that.

I was the same way. I did not find out about her until very late (only a few months ago), but I have now joined all those who love so many of her songs and the way that she sings them. I had to spend hours, days--and even probably even weeks--just catching up on all the great music that I had somehow never known about for so many years. I became totally mesmerized by so many of the songs...and by the feeling and sincerity she put into her music.

Definitely one of the biggest losses in rock 'n roll in the last years (and that means something considering that we lost David Bowie, George Michael, Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington not too long ago).

There seems to be an eternal flame of memorial for this amazing and powerful soul who made her way into all our hearts. It is hard not to cry each time I visit a video, read comments and listen to others feelings about her. It is almost like she is still a force for good and heartfelt emotional power in our lives. With no deeper understanding than my own feelings I know this to be true. Where is she? Seldom has any one in popular music carried such resonance in my experience. I could say it is just me but then I read so many others clearly picking up on similar vibrations. As I write this I feel so triggered. Can anyone explain this to me? Even as absolutely poor the audio is on this video, I don't even care. She and her band mastered the mojo so well it doesn't seem to matter much.

My grandmother was Irish and the town drunk of Hermosa Beach, CA in the 50's, 60's and 70's. All of her grandchildren are addicts and artists (one actually kinda famous). It's been said if it wasn't for alcohol, the Irish would take over the world. I'm sure Dolores was as lovely as my grandmother. Well done Dolores, regardless, we are all still very proud!!!
