- Renaissance drama during Shakespeare reached its peak of glory. His successors, including Ben Jonson, Thomas Dekker, Beaumont and Fletcher and others could not replace the genius of Shakespeare. However, there is a lot of variety offered by playwrights of the age. this video is a detailed study of Shakespeare's contribution to English drama, especially Historical plays, Romantic Comedies and Tragedies, as well as, an exploration of the decadence of drama upto the closing of the theatres by the Puritan regime. a must-watch for the students of literature.
