@@RestorationApprentice Thanks, I see that while removing the pinion, you also remove the needle bearing. Mine needle bearing didnt survive the removal, did you replace or reused yours? I see that you sandblasted the connection on the steerhousing with the drive shaft, did you treat it with some rust protection?

Great work as usual. Where did you buy the clamps for the boots?
Thank you. If I remember correctly, they came with the boots.
Hi what did you torque the crossmember nuts back up too , thanks John
Sorry for the late reply, I didn't put it back on yet. If you still need it, I can look up the torque in my manual?
Hey, where did you buy your inner and outer tie rods from? currently trying to replace mine aswell and looking for suggestions. much appreciatedj
I got them locally... they are golf mk1 tie rods, just bring your old ones to compare them as there may me few different versions.
@@RestorationApprentice thx
What kind of grease did you use for the rebuild of the rack?
I think it came with the boots.

What is the part numbers for MK1 tie rods?
1J0422804HKT ?
I honestly don't remember... these restored parts are packed and stored for when I get to putting it all back together.
Hi love this channel, how much of the running gear, suspension, steering is interchangeable with the Golf mk1 do you know?
Thank you! I'm not sure... as far as I know apart from tie rods, later cars such as mine use golfs control arms.
