Houston is a great sports market. Lots of big sporting events go to Houston (final 4,CFP championship, WBC, world cup) the NHL would benefit from such a giant market like Houston
There's one up side to the idea of Atlanta getting another NHL team Is 4-5 years when Bettman figures out that he has to move the team Quebec City will be sitting there with a NHL ready arena
I mean... I live in Atlanta, so lemme tell ya, it's really not "the worst sports city" or whatever. It's not second worst. It's not even top-20 in the worst, at least not anymore. Atlanta used to be known as a transient city, but while there are plenty of folks still moving here, there are loads more who grew up here and have established roots here. Look at the Hawks, for example. They're not a great team, but check out those attendance numbers. The Falcons? Same difference. Atlanta United in MLS is setting new NA soccer attendance records. There's a reason Team USA soccer moved its headquarters to Atlanta, and is building its national training center nearby, and it's not because of the weather. Sure, "hockey failed twice" in Atlanta, but both instances of failure is entirely on ownership. The owner of the Flames went bankrupt by a collapsing real estate market, and had to sell to stay afloat. The Thrashers owners were forced into buying the team, and once they did that, they immediately tried to relocate it. Why? Because they didn't want it. All they wanted were the Hawks, and they saw the Thrashers as competing against them. Don't believe me? That's cool. Just look up all the court records. The owners sued each other for six years before finally settling in December 2010, not to mention the other entities who sued Atlanta Spirit. It's fun to make stuff up, but the real interesting bits are in court filings and discovery. As I said, I live here, but I don't really care too much about Atlanta as a city. It'd be a wonderful place for me to live in, if only it were ~20 degrees cooler year-round. My sports allegiance is to Detroit, not Atlanta. But when it came to hockey in this city, I attended as many games as I could, sometimes dealing with the incredibly inadequate mass transit system to get there and get home. Should the league follow through and award a franchise to either Krause or Carter, I'd do it all again. I just can't promise I'd wear Atlanta apparel when the Red Wings come to town.
Imagine having an MLS team whose attendance rivals some NFL TEAMS, an MLB team that is consistently top 5 in attendance, and a 10th-place NBA team that is still by percentage towards the top of the league, and being called “the worst sports city in America.” It’s like having 4.0 at your university and being called their worst performing student…by someone who couldn’t even get past admissions 🤣
the nhl does not need any more teams please dont act like this is a good thing the nhl needs to get rid of a few teams im really tired of the sports media becoming nothing but pr monkeys for gary bettman shame on you all ,you are not journalists, not even close you have all sold out
If not for the Dolphins, Miami is probably worse than Atlanta lol but the entire Gulf Coast is bad for pro sports save maybe the New Orleans Saints as well. They love college down there and even the Tampa Bay Rays can't draw when they're playing good lol

Stan Kroenke has been on note saying that he wants a NHL team in San Diego since they’re going to have a fresh new stadium coming.
The last thing the NHL needs is another expansion. If you want a new team toss out Arizona.
You're a very fine human being John.😊😊😊
NHL IN HOUSTON!!!
One thing is for sure, any new expansion team will be American. Have to ensure that the odds of a Canadian team winning the cup keeps diminishing.
North Alpharetta is a long haul from downtown Atlanta.
They add 4 more teams where will they find all the players? The league is watered down enough

Bob is right NO TO ATLANTA. Bettman will never bring another team to Canada and would never do for a canadian market like has been done for Arizona

I thought Miami was the worst?
Good God not Atlanta again, the 3rd time is not a charm. Its a good place for a AHL team
