Definitely grew up fishing those bobbers for flounder, sole, rainbows and mostly smelts and mackerel. Love homemade tarter sauce. Makes all the difference in eating fish. Thanks for sharing!!!

Caught good fish on the seawall. The wife and I were down there last Saturday. Bite got slow so we moved to Ft Morgan Pier and caught a mess of Mangroves.

We call them minnows Cocahoe minnows in Louisiana and when I was guiding, in lower Lafourche, Terrebonne and Jefferson Parishes, I caught a large part of my redfish with these minnows, sometimes Speckled Trout too!

I thinking would be a great and informative video. For example the difference in the combos you use fishing from the surf, a boat, the piers or a jetty/inlet. Maybe explain what reel sizes and the sizes of braid/fluoro lines you use with the different set ups? I will be coming to ALA/FLA in OCT or NOV and am planning on stopping by your store. Learned to fish with those big white and red bobbers. Still keep a couple in my tackle but rarely use them now. Different fish, vastly different locations these days. Might have to get one out again after watching you. 😊

Nice Mackerel. I've only caught 1 Mackerel this summer. Had a great day today but my buddy lost 1 Mackerel. Caught, an inshore Slam, ie; Snook, Red, Trout. I don't really know if that was a slam but hey. We caught bunches of Trout,, Snook, Redfish. 1 catfish, lost a Mackerel.... and HOT HOT HOT. was out 7+ hours on the kayaks today. Whew.

I noticed you loosening your main drag when fishing bait. Have you ever messed with any of the reels that have the "live-liner" or "bait-runner" features? I bought a shimano baitrunner oc back in the winter but haven't really had opportunity to put it through it's paces. I bought it for free-lining shrimp and other bait sort of how you were fishing the bull minnows.

You absolutely can. The only issue is the lifespan will be shorter. Even if you take good care of it sand and salt will do a number on the cheaper combos. I will try and come up with some.

I'm in south Louisiana. So hot I'm catching boiled fish. I fished with Brad 2 Junes ago on a charter with my cousins out of PCola. Fun was had by all.

That bobber brings on some nostalgia. Used to use them all the time on my uncle's canal for catching snapper (baby bluefish)!

I've never seen someone fish a spoon by fast reeling, it's usually fished like a jig.
Not when you’re targeting fast fish like Bonito and Spanish. If I were jigging for reds or other species I would slow it down a lot
