    @6:00 is exactly why I bought a monster rack instead of the lite -- the cross members sit at the very top of the rack, just like the back plate does in this video. It allows taller guys to run the multi grip chin up bar and get ~94" of clearance for chinups... it also allows ~6' height guys to press inside the rack like you you stated.

    I learned a tip chris duffin posted on folding the mat onto itself and cutting along the curved fold of the mat. The weight and tension of the mat help you cut into the rubber and almost tears into it. Awesome start to the GYM!

    • @TheKurtlocker

    7:35 - great video - one question I still don't understand what you were doing differently here? You said you like to do it the other way? But it looks the same as what you were explaining earlier?

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  2 роки тому

      It’s whether the nut side of the setup or the bolt head side is facing the plates. I prefer to face the bolt head to the plates so that a rubber spacer will separate the plates from rubbing into the the bolt head. If you put the nut side of the setup, the bolt itself extends further off the side of the rack causing it to still make contact with the plates

      Agreed. I wish they would do that with the monster lite

  • @Captainfluffytoes
    @Captainfluffytoes 3 роки тому

    I believe that we can get monster lite side crossmembers like you describe. The Rogue monster lite RIGS look to be that type of design with a flush mount at the top and the nut inside of the 3inch section. Could order two 43" members. I've been toying with this idea as well but makes no difference for my current set up since I can't mount the crossmembers at the top of the rack due to ceiling height issues.
    Food for thought!

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  3 роки тому

      The ML rigs are not that design. I just threw one together (see my Instagram as it is where I’m training right now)

    • @TheKurtlocker

    Do you do the platform vs just setting on mats so that it can be bolted down without drilling into foundation?
    For a 6 post rack do you suggest a platform?

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  2 роки тому

      I only suggest a platform if you’re a heavy deadlifted with steel plates only. Obviously you take risk based off your judgement and not mine. The platforms are largely for bolting down without drilling through the floor.

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  3 роки тому +1

      This garage was on a very slight slant. Using shingles to level under the platform seems. be a good method for leveling out your platform. In some cases, using thin plywood layered on the lower portion.

    I recently watched your review on the Rep and Rogue benches. I've been looking at getting an adjustable bench, Rep has been out of stock for months, spending the extra money is not an issue, I'd prefer higher quality, still recommend the Rogue AB-3? I would like to see you do a separate review on just that bench too!

    • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  3 роки тому +1

      I still think the AB-3 is an excellent bench, but I only recommend the AB-3 is decline bench is something that you train. There are other benches that are excellent as well but less expensive from Rogue fitness such as the Rogue Adjustable Bench 2.0 if you require incline and flat work or Minster Utility Bench 2.0 if flat bench is all you train.

      @@TheKurtlocker So I just ordered the REP AB-5200 ADJUSTABLE BENCH
      which was in stock today and in blue so it matches my Rep Dumbbell Rack. I watched more reviews and it seems like the Rep AB-5200 is similar to the Rogue AB 2.0 with a few improvements and it comes with Reps new pads. I saved quite a bit of money and in the end if I don't like it I'll return it. Also after more research the Rep AB-5000 Zero Gap and Rogue AB-3 seem more of pain to adjust while working out so I'm glad I went with something more simple, I'm a simple kind of guy. • @TheKurtlocker
      @TheKurtlocker  3 роки тому +1

      That will have to do with how much you value the west side hole spacing and future attachment purchases.
      Monster series has a few attachments only offered for monster (flip down safeties etc) and the Monster series tends to have new attachments available sooner.
      Outside of that...it’s a matter of whether you want 1” holes, nicer attachments, or you are fine with taking Rogue’s delay in new attachments for ML
      I do tend to tell people that if I was starting from scratch all over again, I would buy a monster series first abs build my gym off of that
