  • In this video we will be talking about 10 important insights for building your Self Confidence from the writings of Marcus Aurelius. He was also a devout student of the philosophy of Stoicism. During his rule, Aurelius found the time to construct a series of autobiographical writings, now known as the Meditations. In these writings, the Marcus Aurelius offered a number of key insights on how to build self confidence.
So here are 10 important insights for self confidence from Marcus Aurelius.
    01. Focus on building your character
    02. Practice Self-Acceptance
    03. Focus on your thoughts
    04. Make a plan and stop thinking
    05. Keep your word
    06. Take ownership of your actions
    07. Don’t speak too much about yourself
    08. Remind yourself of death
    09. Ignore the naysayers
    10. Have an evening confidence ritual
I hope you enjoyed watching the video and hope you find these insights very insights very helpful for you in building your self confidence.
Even though Marcus Aurelius wrote it 2,000 years ago - his insights on Stoicism still carry strong weight today. Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy founded by Zeno of Citium in Athens in the early 3rd century BC. Even though it is over 2000 years old, more and more people are discovering how Stoicism is not only relevant to modern times, but can be applied in very simple, yet strong ways.

Good video. Agree with most of what is said here. I feel like having a good self esteem is just what I need to propel my life to that extra level. I'm doing OK, succeeding in MOST areas of my life, but I DO tend to get down on myself for the "little things" that I seem to not do so well. ANd I do tend to focus on these. I especially like the last part, the GRATITUDE JOURNAL and DAILY SUCCESS JOURNAL. Will try to implement that ASAP. Any more tips on developing self effifacy to a greater level would be appreciated. AT the moment my biggest vice is my weight, a constant struggle to lose weight, but after watching some of these "tips", I feel just a bit more confident to do so. Great video, again, hope to watch more in the future. Cheers....

This is so interesting. I just wish you had another title. I want to share this with folks who could do with the philosophy and attitude and habits and thoughts ... Oh the wisdom taught in this short powerful video. Only, they'll see the title and not even open it. Oh, woe!
Will be following with action these pearls of wisdom. Thank you for posting!

The way I built *_self-confidence_* was through exposing myself to the experience. What do you not feel confident about? Is it socializing? Then continually expose yourself in social situations and through the experience self-confidence will emerge

What I've been doing lately is to think about myself in a factual way, and to not consider anything that's not factual. My insecurities are not based on fact, rather my own negative self-image that comes as a result of self-loathing thoughts and feelings. Facts enables me to see myself with humility, not the embellished version that only I can see. As an example, I don't have a lot of confidence with women. When approaching someone, I would always defeat myself saying "Why would a girl like that want to go out with a two-time loser like me?" So instead, I focus on the facts. I tell myself that from her point of view, I'm somewhat good looking, smart enough to hold a conversation and funny. That's more than what most guys have, so that gives me the confidence to talk to attractive females. Even if the facts do point a negative conclusion, I will see that I'm not nearly as bad as I think, because I always tend to exaggerate thoughts about myself. The more scientific I am while decision making, usually the better off I am.

    • @martinbradstreet5728

With women, less is more. Never act like it's your job to entertain them when talking to them. You're worth it and you need not give off the heir that they are doing you à fàvor by allowing you to talk to them. A , healthy conversation is a "two-way street" with two active participants. Finàlly, it's easy to get intimidated by good looks yet keep in mind women are not nearly as self-assured as they let on. They face a lot of social pressures when it comes to appearance and it can cause even the beautiful ones a lot of grief. Some are quite sick of appearance always at such a forefront and would love for a man to dwell upon another good quality they possess. If you find it and remark about it she will see great depth in you and that will make you very original and interesting - that's a great start, don't you think??
All the best to you,; good times are ahead - you're going to do better and better with time and experience!! And speaking of experience, I have some. So please consider my counsel aforementioned above.

Life and people are gonna do their utmost to devalue you and see you at the bottom of the pit. People love watching others fail. If you don't love yourself and accept their perceptions you're letting others dictate your existence and reality. Ignore all, respect yourself, love yourself, and do your thing. The reason others attack you and devalue you is due to their own insecurities. The only reason others blatantly bring you down in various ways is because deep inside those same people are way below you and are trying to drag you down with them. Ignore them and don't say anything. This is the reason 99.9 fail in life. They let corpses around them drag them down. Key in life is to detach yourself from everyone. Even family. Because opinions of the family have the biggest weight on our existence, and one non supportive comment from them can annihilate your entire world.

OMG.Just discovered your channel. Im in LUV! Thank you,Thank you. I know this will have a huge impact on my life. From morning to night I've listened to your channel. Only in 24hrs this channel's altered the outcome of my future and gave me peace with my past. Born into a broken home filled with instability, neglect, all that could be abused was, as a teen became the property Georgia and finally to end my childhood was released at 17 as an adult with expectations to become a productive member of society. I missed out on sooo much. Had no mentor, no guidance, no training on how to care myself as an adult. I had to figure it out on my own. My desire to get it right is still strong. Getting it right meant a lot of getting it wrong. 42yrs later, I can say, "knowledge was the key to open, cleans, and heal my heart." I'm currently living a life filled with gratitude, humility, confidence, and happiness. My journeys' not over. As long as theirs knowledge to be had, I will continue to improve and live every moment in the moment and without fear. And again thank you for your gift of sharing your knowledge and talent.

I am so happy and grateful that I do a gratitude list every evening! I've developed this skill some years ago and I still do it. It's amazing!
I also found myself years ago the fact about "stop thinking, start doing". :) Still, I seem not to apply it all the time.
As a child I was good at ignoring the naysayers and people who insult/offend. But recently, I seem to be affected by such people. Something to work on.
I also need to work on the quality of my thoughts... some improvement this year, but still a long way to go...
I don't understand the first point about the character. I take it as having values and sticking to them, but for me "character" means something else.
I believe I am true to my words, own my actions, practise self love, and don't talk too much about myself (although, in front of some people I do - it is just their energy that makes me feel I am safe to do it). I also remind myself about death occassionally, but in the bad way. I need to turn it into motivation and inspiration to live life at its fullest. :)

Confronting oneself can and is often s painful process of varying degree. We have a great mind. So do not slow it down. Its telling you something is wrong. Exaample; my buddy has a parasitic narcissistic beyotch for a woman. She plays video games constantly to regulate her emotions. Shes horrible. Hes constantly fighting with her. She controls and isolates him. Its easy for me to say dump the loser but hes entranced for mulriple reasons. The root of pain is attatchment. Deal with it and heal or be destroyed, hurt etc. Leaky roof becomes leaky floor and collapsing wall n bad air. Its only going to get worse. Dont run. Cope. Good luck

It's really profound. But very complex. A person must dedicate his/her entire life to realise these traits. One other simple way which is very prevalent in Eastern philosophy : Meditation. No mind as they call in Buddhism. The fruits of Meditation are the traits listed in this video. Less theory/more action. The Zen way. Which ultimately raises the question : are there numerous ways to attain the same goal? Different philosophies put forward the same traits/ characters which help in making a complete human being. It is very interesting.

If you enjoy ideas about masculinity and mastery, I invite you to explore the videos I share on the Mastery Order Channel.
Challenge yourself with some concepts about manhood, explore your masculine potential to the maximum and become the kind of man you would admire.
We can only better ourselves together, as men among men, so I invite you to use what I share and, of course, share your own opinions so that others can benefit from them as well.
Looking forward to your points of view.
      All the best to you!

We can see a simple derivation from the 5 person average rule if you spend time only with yourself:
      You = ( You + 4*Nobody )/5
      5*You = You + 4*Nobody
      4*You = 4*Nobody
      You = Nobody
When you spend time with no one, you become a nobody :(
We should all band up and be a bunch of nobodies :)
