Correction, loons actually comprise three separate genera, the Gavia genus is now restricted only to both the Common Loon (Gavia immer) and the White-Billed Loon (Gavia adamsii), while the red-throated loon comprises its own genus being Rufogula, with its scientific name now being Rufogula stellata and both the arctic loon and pacific loon are relocated to the genus Coracopotamus with their scientific names being Coracopotamus arcticus and Coracopotamus pacificus respectively.
Actually, loons are not waterfowl, the word "waterfowl" refers only to those that belong to the order Anseriformes, loons (family Gaviidae) are the only extant family of the order Gaviiformes, not all birds with webbed feet are waterfowl and not all waterfowl have webbed feet.
loons have multiple types of calls and they're all beautiful. In addition to that rapid chirp-call, they have longer, drawn-out calls that can be especially haunting if you hear it in the evening on a lake and don't know what a loon is.
I love loons. They're amazing divers that can dive at great depths. Their breeding plumages are so colorful and eye-catching. Their calls are such a treat to listen to. I'm familiar with Red-throated Loons and Common Loons wintering in the saltwater along the Northeast coasts. A sub-family of the Waterfowl family you should do a video on is Mergansers. Very interesting birds, esp when it comes to Ducks.

Why?
They're actually closer related to penguins than ducks. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aequornithes
If it walks like a loon,
calls like a loon,
flies like a loon...
then it's not a duck.

This is the state bird of Minnesota and the official bird of Ontario.
Becky from finding dory
Those are my grandpa's favorite birds until he sadly passed away but at least I have my grandma and we keep him close to our hearts
Yeah the sound of divers is really unique
I am familiar with the ghostly sounds of these birds.
It's the bird from Finding Dory
It makes no sense to refer to Loons as “divers” considering all of the diving ducks and sea dwelling birds that diving.
They look like the extinct Hesperornis when they Dive
I wish I can see them with my real eyes. Thanks 🎉
