- Although this song has cemented its legacy in the Pantheon of Guitar Classics, 'The Boys Are Back In Town' almost didn't even make the list of songs for the 'Jailbreak' album. Thankfully in the end it did and it then became an unexpected hit for the band. Guitarist Scott Gorham said "Had that song not kickstarted the sales of the album, then the band was over."

Thanks for watching, James. The song came out almost 50 years ago and people will still be listening to it in another 50 years. Genuine classic song.
Have really enjoyed this whole series and especially listening to Pat's stories. It's not an easy business but Pat is a true journeyman.
I remember the band I was in at the time playing an open air gig in Newcastle behind the old Wilmar, a great auld gig.
Mama's Boys were top of the bill and arrived in an old red Ford lorry with a roller shutter door on the side. Don't think there were any windows in the seating area 😅

I can imagine Pat and the lads arriving in the lorry, Pat driving no doubt! Do you still play? Or did you get sense?? 😂
It really was a great era, I think we were lucky in that respect. Despite the troubles we still had a great time. The excitement of heading to the Ulster Hall for Rory's Christmas concert was something very special. I also count myself lucky to have seen the classic Lizzy lineup on the Live and Dangerous tour in 1978, what a show !
Played for years on the dace circuit round Ireland and the usual gigs in the Galtymore in London. Stopped about 10 years ago but still have an odd blast in the house.
Pat actually did a wee mentoring session here in Newry which my son was part of, a real gentleman as always.
Will have to get to the live gig for your project, keep up the good work 👏
I still have my copy of the Official Bootleg which i bought at a small gig in Bernie's pub in Kilcullen, Co Kildare circa 81/82. Great memories of a great live band.
