Best audio tests on youtube - I always seek out this guy, he knows how to get the voice out of a guitar and mic it well without saying a damn word - RESPECT
Actually, if you compare two new guitars, the J15 is always way darker. The J45 in this video is an old one (look at the headstock logo), and it probably has dead strings.
Beautiful guitar playing! Both sound great, and the most obvious difference to my ears is that the J45 sounds darker and warmer and the J15 plays slightly brighter. For the money, I think the J15 is the better value. Great comparison, thanks!
I always thought I'd never have a Gibson acoustic; despite the J-45 being my favourite guitar to record - regardless of price - that price is not insignificant, especially here in Australia. I'm quite amazed at just how much a 'Gibson Jumbo' the J-15 sounds. My wife has a very posh Southern Jumbo that's 50 years old and while different again from these two, the sounds are all in the same ballpark.... undeniably Gibson and nothing like e.g. a Martin or Taylor (both of which, to me anyway, sound very 'pretty' and less 'rock'). So, I'm sold. I'm selling guitars like crazy so I can buy a J-15 before Gibson start spec'ing and pricing it up... if you want 'that' Gibson focused sound, it has to be the bargain of this century :-)
First, I like that you're digging into the Gibson growl, showing off what only Gibsons do. Second, the J45 has better growl. The J15 high strings have bite and shimmer. Great comparison test. I'll take the J45 please.
Out of the two guitars played here I prefer the j45, but, I have a j15 and it sounds way better than the one in this video. I think mine has opened up a lot through playing and the tone just gets better.
Very slight difference between these two - J-45 is only slightly broader in sound...so I guess it's true that the 5% difference is what inflates the price.
Both are very nice guitars, j45 works better for blues and bluegrass and j15 is more "european" oriented, nicer for folk, celtic etc to my ears. Going for the j15 bc I want to take a little distance from the typical mahogany midrange that everybody is used to and for the price of course.

Gibson Red Label J-45 is most likely Rosewood and is probably twice the price of the Gibson J-15 the strings look new on both guitars but and guitar should have Elixir strings in my opinion it sounds like they a using Gibson Master-built strings and in my opinion are terrible

Very nice playing. I like them both. The J-45 is warmer and fuller to my ears, but the J-15 is a fine choice as well.
J-15 has a quicker decay, like maple, which Gibson is famous for...only my opinion...
Lovely playing
beautiful chord changes!
J-15 will be the next classic and hugely sought after guitar by Gibson.
Especially since it is no longer in Gibson's lineup. Look for the Heritage/Vintage line in a few years.
@@mikegraham4513 hard to believe it's discontinued. Such a fine instrument.

Beautiful playing. Beautiful guitars. J-45 deeper, J-15 brighter
J15 is so good.. ard 15% slightly thinner sounding than j45 when doing plugging.

The J-45 he is playing is a Red Label Rosewood back and sides but I think the J-15 is a better guitar

I put bone nut & saddle on my J-15 and it just sings.
great j15

j45 is a legend guitar no questions! I have a very sharp ears.
I was thinking of trading in my J-15 for a J-45. NOT AFTER WATCHING THIS!
he makes the J-15 sound better than the 45!
Nice j45
The J-45 is a Custom Shop Gibson and the J-15 is there Standard model
45 has a warmer fuller tone and 15 is more mid punchy imo. Both sound great.

The J-15 sound is more present and articulated... The J-45 creates a little darker mood....

Basically, mahogany vs walnut.
Can anyone help with the cords played at the beginning ?
Hi there
Chord changing looks like this
E E/G# A A/B

Elixir strings? Nothing HIDES more the natural tone of a guitar than Elixir strings.
Love my J15... But that McPherson back there... Just sayin
J15...
