Hi Meg! Your new Hobo cover is gorgeous! I've been using a Hobonichi A5 Techo for 4 years and planning to get another one for 2023. My Hobo cover is cloth in a cream background with little pink, green, and yellow flowers. I purchased the cover on cover for it because of the light color, and it has worn beautifully. It has been tossed into bags, dropped on the ground, caught in the rain, and still looks great & holding up beautifully. I put the plastic cover in my garage for a couple of days when it was new, and the odor disappeared completely. I use my Hobo as a combination of planner (using the months &weeks pages in the front), and journal, (using the daily pages at the back). Love that everything is in one place! The paper is quite durable - I've used fountain pens without any problem, and even watercolor in small amounts. For larger watercolors, I just gesso the page and all is well. One thing that doesn't work well is certain ink pads, especially archival or permanent inks. So if I want to stamp I either use VersaMagic Dew Drop ink pads, or again, gesso before stamping. Good luck with your Hobo - hope you enjoy it!
Love that cover, on my wish list! This will be my 5th year with Hobonichi. Last year I bought a fabric cover for the first time and read that the cover on cover is not suitable for the fabric covers. Although you would think the fabric ones would need the protection more! Enjoy your Hobonichi 🥰
The back pocket on the cover on cover is for easy access to the covers with a back pocket. The cover on covers aren't meant to be used on all the covers but people still use them anyway regardless to keep them from getting dirty and worn. Thank you so much for taking the time to show us your Hobonichi haul.
Have been watching lots of Hobonichi unboxing …… I haven’t dived in yet as I have about 20 dot grid journals lined up on my shelf yet to be used! However, your gorgeous cover is the one I would have chosen too……. I’m sure you’ll love it when you get it kind of worn in….. look forward to seeing how you use it next year x
I believe the cover on cover is not meant to be on embroidery, I mean it will take time. But if you check other users they place it with fabric covers that are plain, but not these. But it seems like it will break in eventually. Beautiful selection btw. Enjoy it!
Some covers are recommended to not use a cover on cover. It usually says in the description section of the cover. I wonder if this one is one of the exceptions because it does look like it’s sitting pretty wonky. It’s such a pretttttttty cover so I would hope it can use a cover on cover! Gotta protect that beauty!🥰 great haul! Thanks for sharing!
Hello Meg 👑 I would watch a couple of videos on the cover you purchased. I don't believe I would use two planners in your cover. Absolutely Positively Beautiful 👑🌹 Many Blessings 👑🌹🙏🏼
I think the cover on cover is supposed to have extra room with the cover inside. I have the a6 successor that comes with its own specially designed cover on cover, and it has quite a few extra room when I put the cover in. It's not loose, but it's visibly larger. I'd call it a comfortable fit. So I guess the cover you get probably isn't supposed to be paired with a cover on cover. They usually write information like this somewhere on the product pages. But really, it's a case by case thing. I heard that the Disney collabs this year aren't supposed to be used with a coc either, but many have done that and it comes out alright.
That smell usually goes away, I would offgas it by itself for a week in some area you won't be near often and try it again... Also, the Cover on Cover eventually slackens a bit with use/books... People tend to use an Avec by itself, but others like them together and remove the one they fill up when it's gotten bulky enough... It's supposed to be lighter weight to carry half the year. I preferred the whole year at a glance myself. Certainly a pro to have less bulk though
Please don't use that ugly plastic cover with your beautiful fabric Hobonichi. You are taking away the beauty of your purchase. Just be mindful with it.
Ah yes I've since found out that it's not designed to be used with the clear cover - my brain just went into protective mode when ordering something cream. I'll just have to be mindful when I'm using and storing it! Thanks for watching!

Welcome to Hobonichi! I hope you have lots of fun with the a6 Tomoe River paper!

Yay, how exciting!
Ooh I loved that end sneak peak at your journals! Enjoy the hobonichi, the more I see them around the tubes, the more inclined I am to buy one😅
Hello! For your CoC problem you can use an hair dryer and warm it with a little bit that will make it fit better.

Hey Meg, try both covers - front and back - one journal as you work on it 😊
Thank you!!
Put the front cover under the left edge and the back cover in on the right. Beautiful cover.
Thank you!!

That was my thinking, especially with it being cream!! Thanks for watching :)

Ah that makes sense, I'm slowly figuring this all out haha - thanks for watching!! :)
The clear covers apparently don’t fit certain covers. I find that over time mine started to fit a bit better
CONGRATS!!!! ENJOY!!!! (Mary)🌻
thanks for watching Mary! :)

Thanks for the tip! :)
Pretty journal. Those bookmarks are the first thing I would cut off. Very annoying. But other than that, very nice 😊
Oh I get you, but I'm not sure I could ever bring myself to that! Thanks for watching!!
