There's something oddly captivating about watching someone navigate a gate it's like a peaceful little ritual. The gentle rhythm of going in and out, almost like a meditation in motion. Who knew such a simple act could bring such calm and quiet joy? It's the kind of entertainment that reminds you to appreciate life's small, unnoticed moments. F*** that gate hater!
I so relate to the feeling of dread leading up to trips or events. I chalked it up to grief response from recently losing someone extremely close to cancer. I am determined not to let that feeling stop me though. It’s just a feeling. I so appreciate your waffling wanders
I walked on Hadrian's Wall with my husband and his mom in 1971 on a trip to England, Scotland and Wales. I was so excited to see that lovely wall again that I jumped for joy in my spirit. Brought back memories of that trip of a lifetime. I do not remember all of that grass growing on top of the wall then but then memories can be flawed. When we walked on top of the wall, there were no other buildings and I don't recall IF excavations of the area (we were near a mile fort, too) were happening when we were there but for the two hours we spent on and near Hadrian's Wall, we were the ONLY people walking the wall. There may have been spirits where we were because I remember hearing strange sounds floating on the air. BTW I love history too as did my first husband and I taught it for over 22 years. Also saw a Roman Well (still had water in it) in the basement of an Estates Office in either Exeter or Chester, probably Chester. Walked the wall around Chester too. 😎
Sorry to say my wife and I have just found your channel what have we been doing it's brilliant mate ,I am disabled but can still get about with my wife's help but you fetch these marvelous places to our front room it might seem crazy but we feel as though we are actually there with you you make our day mate and all the beautiful places you visit with your little dog .keep up the good work we love it
Really interesting, Glenn. Please don't doubt yourself about these videos. We all love watching whatever you do because you just have that wonderful way. Love little Fin, too.❤
This video was so lovely, thank you. Finn is the sweetest little dog, such a star. Loving your videos. So sad to see sycamore gap. Can't wait for the next one! X
Great video Glenn. During the covid lockdowns I did a walking challenge for Hadrians wall and walked the equivalent of the entire length mainly on a treadmill. While watching youtube videos of hikers walking along it. It was pretty much where I became obsessed with walking and hiking.
They should set up viewing points around the Gap with a silhouette on glass of the Sycamore, so that when lined up right you can see it in the gap just as would have appeared.....
Ii remember the campsite at Beadnell from the late 80's when I camped at the entrance road. It was a very small site then. Obviously more vans than tents now. I took a trip out to the Farne islands and also walked to Sycamore Gap from the west. I went back about 5 years ago. It's changed a lot. Much busier, but still had a great time.
I was at Sycamore Gap a few days ago. Still a magical place. I did the wall with my son last year, best thing we’ve done. I’d do it again but from east to west this time. Top tip, the bus from Newcastle to Carlisle or the other way round only costs £2. It was more expensive to get the metro from Wallsend into Newcastle. Anyway, I’m looking forward to next week.
That Beadnell campsite always reminds me of an old friend who's parents used to go there in their campervan. He used to tell the story of how one of them once drove off in the van there, forgetting they'd attached the awning to it and set up their living/kitchen area under it! Total mayhem.
his was a beautiful walk. Need to do this ASAP. Wish you wouldn’t doubt yourself with these trips. I’m loving them. Even better having Fynn with you. She is so bloody cute trotting along. Remind me of that song. I’m a happy, happy dog I’m a happy happy happy dog. 🐶 you know the one.
Thank you for a really excellent video. I get to see beautiful places I will never visit, listen to your friendly, cheery chatter and enjoy little Finn scampering along. ❤
As you're thinking of walking the Hadrian's Wall Path, I would recommend you buy the pocket sized Cicerone book 'Walking Hadrian's Wall Path', by Mark Richards. Not only does it provide a guide to walk east to west as well as the west to east route taken by most people, you also get a 1:25,000 scale route map booklet. The book also provides lots of interesting snippets as you make your way.
Visiting Hadrian's Wall takes me back to school trips in the rain with a soggy clipboard trying to answer questions as you walked around the fort. Still love it though. Fabulous video and lovely to see Finn back 😃
Great vid Greg and finn..Northumberland is a lovely place my family not far from there. Also I've been to them places there as I also worked in Berwick upon tweed at holiday site a few years ago and visited Holy island lighthouse and Lindisfarne excellent place buddy..
I enjoy all your videos, but a Finn one is especially delicious. Viewing Hadrian's wall is fascinating. I watch Time Team and other videos and just love the history. Here in the states our history is different. At least we had some Viking action. Maybe. You walk for those of us who can't.
Great to see Housteads again. I walked The Hadrians Wall Path in May- West to East, prevailing weather behind. I camped near Twice Brewed. It's a great path to do.
Great video Glenn, I’m really enjoying seeing you “expand your horizons”. Seeing different parts of the UK while enjoying your special brand of waffle is an absolute joy. When I was in the UK last year I hired a car in Glasgow and drove to Carlisle. My first full day in England was spent at Sycamore Gap…. Just 6 days later I was in my accommodation at Windermere crying, watching the news reports that the tree had been cut down. I shed a tear now, seeing the reality of the empty gap in your video. I’m so lucky to have seen it when I did. And under skies as blue as they were for you 😊 Looking forward to seeing what other great adventures you have in store for us.
Aww fabulous vlog with fuzzy face Fin ❤ I was absolutely heartbroken when the Sycamore Tree was chopped down 😢 great walk along the wall. Looking forward to the next vlog of the Northeast its my favourite Coastline ❤
Fantastic so happy you have done this route, we visited Vindolanda not Housesteads just a little smaller and also walked a bit of the wall. Love Finns new name Finnius Maximus 😁 Love Beadnell Bay, they do lots of sail boarding and paragliding there. Thank you so much , I really enjoyed it. Glenn. 👌👌👌
Oh yes, you have became my staple Sunday evening watch. Must say I'm never really keen on van videos, but this one has a relaxing feel to it with some great views. Also it is so so so great to see Fin again. Just touching on your long distance walks, have you walked the west highland way or would you consider walking it sometime?
Did Hadrians wall walk last year in that September heatwave. The middle section was a nightmare but loved the walk in general. You should do the full walk glen you would love it.
I hiked the complete Hadrians Wall Trail a few years ago. Sycamore gap was one of the highlights for me. I was so sad when I heard the tree had been cut down, glad to see it’s recovering
Fins reply to 'i doubt she'd walk 20 miles a day' was ...'dad, it's called - you can carry me mate!' Don't like those buildings, but there was a gorgeous one overlooking the sea... you made me laugh, hubby full of covid, finally said 'im desperate for pie, chips and gravy' and then your dinner was brought out - classic!!excellent vlog...
Great video! I nearly fell off my chair when you said ‘that’s what she said’ 😂😂😂 Can’t wait to see Bebenburgh, is that how you spell it? Wonderful to see Finn and the two of you enjoying time together 💜🐶💜
Great video. You're up my neck of the woods now. Me and the pup have walked the entire Northumberland coast in both directions, you will be hard pushed to find better coastline 🙂
So happy to see the most pretty Finn back with you ❤️❤️❤️, and what happened to that tree was just simply disgusting 😡😡😥thing is it’s going to take hundreds of years for it to fully mature .
The Acer Sycamore will easily fight its way back into nice shape within 30 years so don’t be so despondent over this crass act of vandalism all is not lost.
The Sycamore gap tree wasn't the only Great Tree to be felled another one got taken down just days after, there was an amazing tree that was about a thousand years old it was an ancient yew tree, why do people such horrible things it's like an attack on nature history and beauty...
Stopped at Beadnell Bay Campsite about 2 weeks (17-19 September) ago....in my tent 2 nights. We had the full harvest moon then. Did the Coastal (or as the signs say, the English Coastal Path) walk to High Newton by the Sea...Nice pint or two in the Joiners Arms....then onto Low Newton....back along coastal path.....Beadnell is good for wind surfers...although on the video the bay looked like a mill pond..... Some fabulous houses overlooking the sea at Beadnell. Nice pub in Beadnell, the Craster Arms, good food and a beer. We were very lucky with rhe weather, baking hot on the walk. Wee dog, Finn, was like a puppy on the beach. Lovely to see. Very enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing. Liked the black clan/ mass info.
Great video Glenn, would love to go to Hadrians Wall but never been…..and don’t over think things, your videos are always great whatever you are doing, climbing mountains, wild camping, van trips, whatever, we all love them 👍
It had to be Bamburgh! YESSS! I am Uhtred son of Uhtred! Oh... i typed this when I started watching. Haha watching Last Kingdom to get in the mood. Cant wait.
Brilliant video really enjoyed watching and looking forward to the next one, if you haven’t already have you any thoughts on visiting the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Harris? Could see you and Fin up there as the beaches look stunning, we are hoping to plan a visit next spring, Enjoy bud 😉 👍
Good morning Craig Than you for the wonderful drive through the countryside and the seaside to and I love the Adrian wall walk to witch I’ve never been to you should get yourself a nice motor home for yourself looking forward to the next one have a gd day 😊x
Lovely, and what beautiful weather! 🌝. We did part of that walk, including the sycamore back in March and whilst it was VERY cold I loved the wide landscapes and big skies. So looking forward to the rest of this series 😊
Loving the journey so far 😁 We've been drawn to that coastline quite a few times now and the campsite we stay at is the CCC site at Dunstan Hill, Just off Embleton beach and quieter than the Beadnell site. Done bits and bobs of the walk you're doing but never all in one go. Always seem to get stuck in the pub at Craster or Low Newton by the sea 🤣
Don't stress about your video content, it is very good and I enjoy the ramblings. On a side note, it must have been annoying being a legionnaire and having to pay £11.80 to get back in after a patrol!🤣
It's worth stopping at steel rigg and taking in the view from there of the Whin Sill. Also there's the twice brewed pub and brewery there which is rather nice
Must have been freezing at the fort in the Winter but they had some great views You'd have to be a special kind of stupid to want to cut the sycamore down, glad it's shooting away again.
Those people who cut that's poor tree down I hope to god they have a guilty conscience within them for what they did..... I absolutely love tress and it broke me when it was reported what happened to this beautiful tree....
A beautiful unspoiled part of the country……unlike parts of the Lakes have become . The last time I visited Coniston and Bowness-on Windermere I might as well have been in Blackpool …...not the sort of people I’ve been used to seeing in the Lakes . ( been a visitor to the Lakes over the past 30 years ) If it carries on its current path it won’t be long before they have a laughing clown , amusements and a Big Dipper !
My neighbor did Hadrians Wall this Spring...as part of a tour (from the U.S)..so now I can tell her I did too! From my couch😂 Thank you!!👍Love your videos...made all the better because Finn is there with you❤
Hadrian's wall path is 84 miles. Awesome history. It's terrible about what happened to Robin Hoods tree.🇬🇧🇺🇲🍻
Your beautiful little dog is straight out of Tin Tin.
Ahhhhh yes,Herge's Adventure of Tin Tin 😂 she is a very sweet little dog
Love little Fin so sweet and so well behaved bless ❤

Cute when Finnie makes her bed to get comfortable - she wants to sleep❤

Absolutely loving this series and it is only episode one! Having Finn along is the cherry on the top.
Glenn, please please get Finn a harness for the van ❤, it only takes one idiot to pull out on you, and she'll be off the seat and get hurt.
My thoughts too.
Oh my snowflake alert
Me too
What a lovely surprise, a Black Crag video with Wonderful Finn's return!!
Having had a border collie for years, in the 80s, I always said I’d never have a small dog. But Fin would do me nicely
Love you and your walks Glenn. Keep doing what you are doing and don’t be worrying about it!
Great video Glenn. During the covid lockdowns I did a walking challenge for Hadrians wall and walked the equivalent of the entire length mainly on a treadmill. While watching youtube videos of hikers walking along it. It was pretty much where I became obsessed with walking and hiking.

Your commute to Northumberland is basically our commute to the Lakes which we love!

Enjoyed this video and view of Sycamore Gap and little sprouts at Hadrian’s Wall.

Sight seeing road trips are fantastic. Getting to see parts of Blighty I've never been to, is great. Thanks Glenn.
What a shame indeed, so sad. (The Sycamore gap tree)
What a fun walk though! 💜
Awesome! Lovely part of the world. Good to see The Finnmeister on tour!
Did Hadrians wall walk last year in that September heatwave. The middle section was a nightmare but loved the walk in general. You should do the full walk glen you would love it.
Im guessing u might be a big fan of Tin Tin lol because she reminds me of his dog 🐶 alot ❤

Nice to see you at my side of the country, cawfield quarry is a great place to park and walk along to whats left of the tree.

Must have been freezing at the fort in the Winter but they had some great views You'd have to be a special kind of stupid to want to cut the sycamore down, glad it's shooting away again.
