@@SandraPokorneyCmonDude yeah! My first arena rock concert in high school was Ozzy with Anthrax opening. Amazing night for me. But I had no idea of what happened after he left Anthrax. Not your typical "life after Rock" story. He did quite a bit in his life so far. Very cool.
I hung with Dan for a year everyday before the reunion tour. I watched him rehearse for the reunion and my playing exploded by just hanging out with him. I was in the studio for the Red Lamb recording in Deerfield beach/pompano . Spoke to him last week. His new heavy metal watch line is soon to be released. He is a great person and friend. Quality individual and father.
@@ssherrierable I just Ran across this post and am wondering why you doubt this person ? I'm not a Rock star but do know a couple and have spent time with them. These people don't hide from public and they aren't getting mobbed by people on the street. I am casual friends on a regular basis with a former Megadeth drummer Charlie Bailer and the singer from the Detroit Meanies Randy Cole, who where huge in the 80's with "Around the World" Plus I casually know Carl Palmer From ELP, I met him at a casino in norther Mi. after an Asia show and we exchanged address's, and he still sends me tickets to his projects and I write back to his publicist who forewords my cards to him on Holiday's. These people have already seen their big fame days, they aren't like Taylor Swift or some huge star today people barely know who they are unless they are long time fan's.
Dan Spitz stage presence was huge, in case you never saw him perform live with Anthrax. Thanks for making this vid higlighting his amazing accomplishments. Underrated rock star!
I adore his solo in the song Time in Persistence of Time album. Definitely he’s one of the greatest lead guitarists of all time. He was iconic with his Jackson guitars.
Spitz was the Angus Young of thrash metal. Both guys are five feet tall and look smaller than the guitars they play. However, both of them could really rip on those guitars.
Of all the Jackson guitars I worked on in the late 80s at the Ontario Jackson factory,it seemed Dan Spitz and Robbin Crosby were always having guitars built Dan with his Ninja turtle RR V's and Crosby's Firebirds..at one point Crosby would have his guitars leave the factory unpainted so his friend could paint them..
I love Danny (and Anthrax) and I found that he modded his gear surprising, I had no idea he did that. Very similar to myself in that regard. I knew he was a watchmaker, he's a real genius.
Some truth to this for sure. Always had that image of Scott Ian playing those awesome sounding rhythm parts, but... as soon as Dan was gone you never heard the same playing again. Even in recent years when Anthrax went back to a more metal style, that style of rhythm playing just isn't there. Scott Ian is still there, so why can't he play rhythm guitar like all of those older records? hmm....
I would prefer Danny over every other lead guitarist on the planet for Anthrax, but Jon Donais (ex-Shadows Fall) is an amazing artist too. His solo on Blood Eagle Wings is among the best from all Anthrax songs. Also, it's Danny choice to not return to the band. Maybe he find the behaviour Anthrax has been into since 2003 occultist or satanic, because of the pentathrax uses and all the demons references in various tracks. But probably he is just tired of being in a band, maybe metal was just a phase for him (I don't know if he still jams, play guitar alone in his home or something).
but as i much i love Danny i mean i had the exa tly same clothes he wears in the 80s 90s lol im like those freaks superfans😂🤪 nahh as i much i respect him, today hes a boring person when it comes to music
I knew little to nothing about his Timepiece making or his stint in Overkill & Christian Rock groups. Great Job Sandra.
he's pretty cool, huh?

the most underrated lead guitarist in thrash metal genre
I think Skolnick is more
@@reemsreg I can play Alex's stuff but Dan's is sumthin I can't nail. For that reason I see Dan slightly underrated.
@@princesssolace4337exactly, dans phrasing’s and melodies in his solos are hard to replicate/play and VERY underrated
True
@@princesssolace4337 I think he is underrated because no one ever talks about him.

Cool. He is Amazing. Bruce Dickinson & Dan Spitz are proof that Metal Dudes can be Super creative.
Yeah sure ya did 🙄

That tone.

Thank YOU for checking it out!
Dan Spitz is an amazing guitarist and retained his own style. I have never seen him emulate anyone else. Amazing to se in concert!
Dan's the man!
Dan Spitz is so Awesome. I never knew he was in Overkill. I do remember him becoming a Watch Maker. Amazing Dude.👍👍
That was awesome

The Overkill pic is crazy!
I adore his solo in the song Time in Persistence of Time album.
Definitely he’s one of the greatest lead guitarists of all time. He was iconic with his Jackson guitars.

I remember having a crush on him! He was the cutest in the band🥰.

Amazing performance in "Fistful of metal" 😮😮😮
That was great Sandra. I never knew talented he was. Cheers

His modes and phrasing is sumthin unique and tricky to cover.
No Dan Spitz, No Anthrax
right? thank you.

Danny Spitz is was andvaleays be Anthrax
Dan and Joey was the real the good Anthrax the rest is not as good as everyone thinks those 2 are the best
The rest not as good? Charlie Benante's one of the best metal drummers in the business.
Anthrax was always Scott Ian's band.
