My trick for finding restrictions within the condensate line is dump some hot water down the drain then grab your thermal camera and watch it light up. If the pan is overflowing, you can vacuum the excess water from the pan then add in the hot water. Eventually it'll mix and show on camera.

    Heyho! Great work as always!
Quick Question: Why are you bending such a huge pee-trap in the suction line? In school we learned that it only has to be 1x the diameter of the line. So you could Bend 45degree and then straight 135 degree back. The Teacher told us, if you do a too big pee-trap, there is opportunity for the oil to store in there and not get back to the compressor.

I really like how you packed so much into this video. I always watch to the very end of your videos because I find interesting and useful information in the 'office segment' where it's just you talking into a mic.
A couple of things came to mind watching this video:
Most two-way radios these days have a voice activation feature (VOX) that automatically keys the mic when you speak. If you use a headset you shouldn't have nuisance activation and there is also usually a remote mic key button that is often much easier to use than the button on the radio.
When you were talking about working with crane operators, is there a standard set of signals that you prefer to use? Are there signals more suited or unique to HVAC equipment lifting?

A well oil team can make any job go a lot smoother and you can actually have fun while you are working. A cohesive team can also read what others are doing, know what still has to be done....and the install doesn't skip a beat. Im fortunate that i get along with everyone in our service department and we have fun while getting jobs handled and professionally done with minimal if any mistakes.

I think he doesn't actually drink much, if at all. Each one of those 'half kegs', (US) holds roughly 124 pints of beer. On a popular night, one person can go through five to six 'long neck' bottles, at roughly 3/4 of a pint, without any problems. Call it four pints of beer. So, 31 people can blitz through one of those kegs in a non-binge night. The bars prefer to sell from the kegs, because it's less waste (glass, while one of the easiest to recycle, is hard to find a place to recycle, so they usually end up paying for disposal instead), and less storage taken up.
So, assuming 20 of those 'half kegs', that's 600 people - and they generally can't call for more beer on a Sunday.
(Canadian/American here, and worked for a time in a club (office, not bar))

Do you think design TD is somewhat overly analyzed? Ive come to realize that there is so much than can affect Td like you said. Head pressure, temperature in box, dirty coils ect. To me TD on walk in(10 degree vs 15 degree) boxes doesnt affect much of a noticable difference. The only time ive noticed TD is reach in coolers that run 15 degree evap saturation, the food dries out in no time if not covered.
Also i feel your pain at 27:48. Working with guys i always felt like no one will make a mistake under my watch but the problem was that i stressed the hell out of myself thinking that way lol

When you have customers that order their own equipment, how does the logistics of that work? I'm assuming this is a corporate/franchise chain - is there a central office that has an engineer who keeps track of the different 'model stores' and what kind of replacement equipment they need, so they know what the right sizing is and drop-in replacements will be? Do they ever get it wrong?

If you blocked off the condenser enough you could raise head pressure to past the 150psig by pass pressure of the head master, fairly quickly. Probably well before putting in the 4-5lbs first. Then by adding the 3.8lbs winter charge, the system would probably be under charged.
Is there a recommended ambient temp for charging this way? Or is the 4-5lb pre charge just an educated guess?

With a commissioning follow up scheduled, Chris certainly has an opportunity to deal with it later when he does his typical big picture roof walk-around inspection. After an install day most people want to go home, even though an inspection right then could yield another work order that you could co-schedule with the follow up. We don't want to rob him of the energy needed to edit up the 80's synthwave brazing montage after all...

In most buildings those spaces are not that enclosed. Sometimes they might even have ventilation.
Usually all that is separating them are the suspended ceilings, and those are far from air tight.
Also it is usually less of an issue if you go up into a space. Going down into an enclosed space like a well, a sewer manhole, possibly a basement or just any narrow dug up hole etc. Silos or grain bins are notoriously dangerouse in that regard, that is what have to be more concerned about, as usually the stuff that tries to kill you is heavier than air.

    What is considered bypass pressure?

    • @TheHolyFlapjack
      @TheHolyFlapjack 7 місяців тому

Not exactly sure how you are meaning this question so I will answer it two ways.
1: Bypass pressure is considered the minimum pressure required to begin to open the headmaster control valve. This allows some to all of the refrigerant coming out of the compressor to skip the condenser so that the head pressure can be artificially boosted in order to maintain proper pressure ratios When outdoor ambient temperatures are low.
2: Bypass pressure is considered whatever pressure is listed on the headmaster itself in order to begin to activate the bypass. In this instance it was 148 psi but on average, at least from my experience, is 180 psi.

A good majority of social media creators will only say what they are paid to say. It’s only fair that I speak the truth when I think a product is not up to my expectations. The insulation in question was purchased out of desperation and won’t be purchased again because of the labeling. Even the bigger named insulation manufacturers print their name on their insulation but it’s not so bold and not as noticeable.
