I do a lot of baking so I need lots of cookie sheets and I’m baking big batches of bread so I have lots of stuff. But one thing I learned was to have them the same size to stack them nicely. That way I can have more dishes but I don’t use up more space
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I'm grtting ready for hip surgery I need more than paths. Even my donate boxes are clutter at this point. Sending pictures of expensive stuff to FB selling place. Who needs more than the number of showers you have? No glass doors here. If a psycho movie person is gonna get me, I don't want to see them coming. Seriously. My stupid reason for no glass shower doors. Lol oh, and daily squeezying.
The surprising thing about this challenge has been that even though I did a full house declutter a few months ago, I have been able to find things every day and keep up so far! Thanks Cas for making my house a better place!
Remember if you're getting rid of metal baking pans that just because something is dark and possibly even a little crusty looking it's not necessarily a bad pan. I've cooked and baked professionally and that's a seasoned pan that can take a long time to reach that perfection.
Day 19 of declutter…Holy Moly! I did not want to do this today and didn’t think I had 5 things in my kitchen to get rid of but I ended up filling a huge box to give away to a woman and her family who lost everything in the Lahaina fire. Today I was cleaning out baking pans, platters etc..I had 3 baking sheets, I use one, I had a baking sheet with cut out designs, never used..I had two chafing dishes…no need for both…6 strainers..what? A big box is now in my car!!! I know I have gone well over 100 items in the past 19 days and didn’t feel a thing! I did however feel great about having things to donate too! Mahalo for the morning giggles!
It's incredible how much stuff people accumulate without even realizing it. Those big houses with double garages that are too full for cars are a perfect example. It's like we’re trading the space that could be useful for a bunch of things we don’t even need or care about. I remember a Clutterbug video from years ago. Cass talked about the value of the space we’re giving up just to store stuff we don’t use. That point really stuck with me and helps me to limit the amount of useless belongings I keep in my home.
Sad thing is that I feel like we are brought up to think this is normal and desired to just have all the stuff we don’t use. Grateful to see people create content telling us otherwise❤
I am here Day 19 the kitchen is my daughter’s domain. BUT I have been saying we need to get rid of old dish towels. Now, remember those calendar towels? I inherited my mom’s house, we inherited her dish towels. Some of those calendar towels we have are from the 1980’s. They are old ratty, full of holes etc. The drawer for the towels is overflowing! I am ready now to get rid of them. So, I went through them and I got rid of 22 old towels now there is space for new ones! Go me!
how fun. Watching one of your videos of 25 things you can get rid of gave me permission to get rid of 3 large countertop appliances, one was a gift, but GONE. I felt so wonderful. And love the room they left, thanks!
OMG! 🤣 Your moms chocolate fountain story made me spit my coffee I was laughing so hard! I absolutely love your great tips and ideas...thanks for sharing your beautiful self with us!❤
This series has helped me in unexpected ways! Not only am I decluttering but I shop differently now! I am asking myself in the store if I will just end up decluttering the item I’m considering buying-haha! Thanks Cas!
Still hanging in there and absolutely loving these challenges. I had 5 minutes the other day before my class started and you know what I did?! I set my timer for 5 minutes and cleaned my kitchen! These 5 minute daily challenges are helping so much and a great reminder that most tasks can be completed in under 5 minutes!
I had done this declutter last year. I had lovely punch bowls that, rather than punch, were used for large salads when family came. I since had purchased a lovely salad bowl. Punch bowls, gone, along with so many other baking, serving pieces. It was time. I'm in late 70's, and life changes.
Cas, all 3 of you ladies have helped me so much! ❤ I need to regroup and pare down my home plus my dad’s home. My dad recently was diagnosed with terminal cancer. 😢He had so many other health conditions going on but now this! He became bed bound this month and we had to put him in the hospital where he’s getting round the clock care. I had no choice and it’s been so devastating. I’ve got to start cleaning his home out so I need all the help (and strength) I can get right now. 🙏
Praying for peace for your dad during this difficult journey's end. And for you, his dearest daughter. As you clean, you will experience many memories of laughter and the best of family times. I'm 80 and have gone thru many years of closures with my mom and dad and also my husband who we shared love for over 60 years. Thinking and praying for you and those you love ❤️
I needed your cajoling for this one…two white platters I never use but ‘just in case’ …more space in a the company dish cupboard..thank you Cass. I can SEE what I have and will use what I have. These 30days are really transforming my home and ME! The power of 5 mjnutes!!!
If you’re afraid of letting go because you might need it in the future, you can borrow a punch bowl from a friend OR you can rent serving ware from a caterer or rental place. Let them store it for you and enjoy your roomy cupboards.
I have all my older colorful corningware/pyrex "displayed" in the cabinets with glass doors, in my childhood home. I do use them and love them (and have NOTHING else i would put in cabinets with glass doors, lol). I went thru my cookware/bakeware cabinets and got rid of more than 5 😊. Then i toolk the opportunity to re arrange the locations of the items so it all made better sense to me. Ive been slowly breaking the habit of keeping things where they always were (again, i bought my childhood home and change has been harder than i thought) and have started putting it all where i use it/where it makes sense for my life.
I passed my punch bowl on to my daughter a long time ago. It has gotten a lot of use over the years! 7Up and sherbet punch for birthday parties! Also traded dishes with my daughter when she got her house and we started having family holidays there, instead of at my downsized place. She gave me her small casserole dishes (and I use them in the microwave all the time), I gave her my 2 big platters (turkey, and dessert tray), and “all the serving dishes for Thanksgiving dinner.” It has worked very well for us. So today I tossed the rest of my “old” Tupperware. I got rid of most of it a few months back, but had kept 4 pieces thinking I used them in the summer… Nope! Not one. Out they went, along with a water bottle I tried using, and did not like at all. Why is it that we stick things back in the cupboard when we don’t like them?! I am hoping that this 30 days of decluttering will cure me of that bad habit!
One of the things that keeps me going on the decluttering and even through grueling daily life is to have my beautiful things in useable fashion. I am working to that goal even if it is currently fantasy me I am reaching for. I love my elegant glass, fine china sets and silver plate. There will be a butler's pantry in my little home. I am making choices and progress. As Dana puts it It's up to me to decide what goes in th available space. I don't look beautiful, but my home is and will be beautiful. It is my sanctuary.
I don't have extra bakeware or platters anymore, so I went after my coffee mugs. You'd mentioned them the other day. I love my coffee mugs - all of them. But I was almost ruthless & found 3 mugs & 2 jars to get rid of. Woot! 😁 Now to go mourn my 3 mugs. Just kidding...Sort of 😉
Oh my goodness, your story at the end is hilarious! I remember decluttering my mother’s punch bowl a couple of years ago. It was beautiful, but huge. I had never used it. It was hard to let go of. It was the memory I cherished. I’m enjoying this series. Thank you. I’ve learned so much from you.
@@jennifermarie8707 I’m okay. Instead of the punch bowl I have put several of my mother’s beautiful teacups and saucers, which look pretty and get used.
We have 5 kids plus 4 of their spouses and 9 grandkids so far. So some of those dishes and things are necessary at least once or twice a year. I am rearranging things so that they don't take my prime real estate in the kitchen though ... some of those things can be stored in a cupboard in the basement. I still found quite a few things to throw out or send to the 2nd hand store today.
@@Shmu22 same here, so I put all those in a plastic container with a lid ,labeled it and store it in the basement for just those times. Hopefully soon my daughter will be hosting holidays and that container will be all ready to donate to her or thrift store.
You did the exact opposite of me on the green and white containers. I let the berry ones go because mine didn’t work well for me but kept the long one for my celery and carrots. I love how decluttering is so individual and it’s a way to let the real you shine in a way
I've been thinking about this for weeks... I have plastic platters in a cabinet that I've used once, over 5 years ago. I have small glass baking dishes...and a couple gross cookie pans. Plus pie baking dishes...I've Never made a pie and when my husband does it's to take so he uses throw away pans. It's time for all of that to go! We do have several parties a year so, keeping the punch bowl and drink dispensers.
I don’t have many serving dishes and a lot of them serve as cooking dishes so I declutterred another area and what do you know… more than 5 things gone! This is no joke. Maybe I need to rinse and repeat and do the challenge all over again next month! 🤔 It’s encouraging and alarming at the same time. Clutter blindness is real. Thanks Cas.
Look, if you’re taking the time to watch a decluttering channel aimed at hoarders, then I recommend you don’t skip any of the days. I don’t have one single serving dish, even though I dream of having all kinds of them, so today I just deleted a bunch from my wish lists! You need to do something to get rid of your clutter and pare down your hoard. You can pick the piece of serve ware that brings you the least amount of joy and get rid of it, at least.
@@audreyandrea460 hoarders! I always say I font have a stack of old pizza boxes in my foyer. Oh, I don't have a foyer either. But they never use the word hoarder, I never would have joined plus we all get to decide what to purge. A little harsh. We don't tell each other what you need to do. They bring her joy. They stay. I own zero. But I'm lousy with wooden spoons etc. Don't anyone ever tell me I can't have 20 wooden spoons. Enough to make me quit. Not the goal. Ill do me. Not about you, bit I hate that people start sentences with "Look" now that politicians do every sentence. Its hostile from the first word. If I had a dream, it would be for people to no longer start sentences with an order. Its hostile from the get go.
@@audreyandrea460Dang. Not everyone who watches Cas is a hoarder or even close. My house is very decluttered and organized. I appreciate challenges like these because they are fast and help keep my house clutter-free. The OP might be the same but if she entertains and/or cooks a lot, maybe she just loves her serving pieces. And that’s ok. The rest of her home might be completely decluttered. You never know.
@@audreyandrea460I'm not a hoarder by any means. I love getting rid of things to refresh my look in the kitchen, my serving options and cooking needs. In 25 years of marriage, I would say I've done great with handling clutter. We've had many garage sales. I watch Cas for the organizing and also the support she gives. I think you may have come off rude and judgemental. There are many that enjoy entertaining. I happen to love cooking for large crowds. I rarely host potlucks. So I gladly make space for all Pyrex Bake ware. 😊
This story reminds me of a time I was baking with my little brother (20+ years younger than me). We were using the blender and I did not realize he did not have the top on it until he turned it on. Batter all over everything, but especially the dachshund was covered in batter. It was a hilarious sight, and of course the dog was happy to clean up some of the floor before we were able to grab her to go give her a bath.
Yeah already did this one! And I have never even went back looking for those things I got rid of. Come on , everyone! You can do this. I’ll sit back and enjoy watching today though.
This starts my day. I’m gonna be sad when it’s over. 😢 But this is one I technically already did. I inherited my great grandma’s fancy china with a whole bunch of fancy serving dishes (I say fancy; it was but she used it everyday as there was normal dinnerware stuff in it too). Serving plates, gravy pouring things, a fancy sugar thing, and several other things I didn’t even know what they were. It was collecting dust as I didn’t want the kids to break it. I sold it to someone who is hopefully using it and knows the name of those things. It was way too fancy for me. At the rate my kids drop stuff right now I wasn’t gonna use it for another 20 years and I think great grandma would rather someone use it a lot and it brings joy to them. So I’m unsure what I should do today.
When we moved house three years ago...I did this. It was HARD because love to cook and bake...but I was ruthless. I used the "container" method and three years later it still feels amazing. I also decided if there ever was a need I could borrow from family. As far as the punch bowl...I ended up using it for decor because it was an heirloom. Lol.
I would love to have a conversation on getting rid of things that we believe have a value and that is why we hold onto it because at some point we’re going to sell it to make our money back. I know that I can’t be the only one stuck in this cycle.
I had a chocolate fountain when I was in my 30’s for my dancers (I owned dance studio, daughter now owns it) and each year we had huge Christmas parties and used it for bridal showers and birthdays we hosted…. Didn’t use it more than couple years and it sat for 9 years afterwards..I finally got rid of it reluctantly and I felt so good giving it away 😅
GO you, Cass!! I'm so proud of how much we've accomplished... being able to let go of what we don’t use even when it's still in good shape or um.."Pretty!" This made me happy to see how you think like I do on these things when others might tell me, "but ✋️ wait! That cake server is pretty.."LOL "I do not need more friends, no more!!" P.S. Every time you mention something that is something I used to have a duplicate of and remember letting go of, I can still say 4 years later....I don't miss it! This morning, after rewatching your kitchen gadget video, I thought, "But wait, I need my pastry brush A.K.A paintbrush... um, to brush butter on rolls. The rolls that I don't want to really make anymore. And if I do, why can't I just grab the stick of butter and use that to swipe it on right? right!" So, out that went this morning plus some more random things like toothpicks & about the last of my cookie cutters..😊😅
I think it was because the Anchor dish had a plastic cover. The old Pyrex is gold, but they changed. “All-caps PYREX, which is sold and made in France, is still made of borosilicate glass. But any Pyrex that's all lowercase - a recent change in branding - is soda-lime glass, which isn't designed to withstand drastic temperature changes.”
@@njmaryannez yes, I should've typed PYREX to differentiate 🤭 Thanks for adding that! I'm in the UK so our shops tend to sell the proper TOUGH stuff for around £5 to £15 a piece.
Cas! You need to write a book! The stories you have are epic! I read a book called Let's pretend this never happened. It reminds me of your stories. Short and true and funny.
I didn’t make the 5 to go out of the house. My house is the house that has all the holiday meals. I have moved some of the things with holiday specific decorations. I am enjoying the challenge now and find myself looking around whatever room for something to go! Thank you so much!!
The same, here. I have the space and am so happy to be able to share it with friends and family. I even have empty shelves and empty spaces in other shelves so I really don't need to declutter for usable space, just to get rid of things that are no longer useful. (I'm actually downsizing my kitchen by getting rid of a hanging overhead head bashing cabinet above my wonderful island.)
I just gave away a platter recently. I am happy with my baking dishes because I bake and cook all the time. I use and love many and have already recycled the gross cookie sheets 😂
Cas, I discovered you on youtube last year, and I was so inspired by your videos, that I decluttered over 1,500 items from my home, and it felt SO good! :) I wondered with this challenge if I would still have enough "stuff" to declutter at least 5 things a day. I'm now realizing that I'm seeing everything through a different lens...I now see so many things I kept as unneeded...maybe I never thought about them in the past year, etc. So, I've come into this challenge full throttle, and every day I have been amazed at all the things I've been able to get rid of! I LOVE this challenge!!! I'm going to miss it on Oct. 1st!! But, I have renewed confidence that I'll be able to keep it going. THANK YOU!!!
I already decluttered a lot f these things, but we frequently have 30-50 people over. We have a large family. Sometimes I feel like I don't have enough.
Thank you for this challenge. It has been very helpful and kept me from getting overwhelmed. I think I will repeat the challenge after the 30 days are over.
I got four more big boxes out of my storage and off to Goodwill for donation today!!!! And that wine opener makes me think of a certain lady only medical check up procedure
Until recently glass baking dishes didn't have plastic covers - and they worked just fine. The covers are a sales gimmick. Sometimes useful, but thin film or foil will suffice.
Fabulous video as always. I have reduced my serving platters as I recently decluttered a whole cupboard of kitchen items. Love your chocolate fountain story. My daughter's in-laws still have one and it comes out every Christmas. 🤣🤣😆The kids love it.
I use a cookie sheet/jelly roll pan as a serving tray and I use a glass baking dish for cakes and brownies. I use storage bowls as serving bowls when needed.
My surgery recovery is harder than I planned. I started the challenge and kept a record of what I got rid of. I will pick up where I left off. Watching each day for inspiration. Thank you so much.
Cas - I just started following you a month ago and my house is looking better. I haven't kept up with all 19 days, but I have gotten rid of many things! Still much more to go as we just finished the basement to create a living space for my daughter and adorable grandbaby. :)
I decluttered my kitchen with a friend the end of last year, but to my amazement I found several items to remove. As always, love your stories at the end.
Perfect declutter. Found stuff that my husband asked why is he holding on to that stuff (his Coke glasses) I swore he was watching decluttering videos-lol I got a whole box of donations today :)
Funny enough. I have a punch bowl and just used it Saturday for my daughter’s birthday party. We host a ton, so we have a handful of serving dishes 😬 I just store them in my closet to save room in my kitchen for items I use more regularly.
Oh please, pretty please tell me you have pictures of the mess from the wedding shower somewhere in your memory box or digital photo collection! That's such a great story! ...and now I want chocolate. Thanks.
Had to do this challenge very late and almost put it off to tomorrow because I thought it would be hard to find 5 things. But hubby helped. Right away he said we never make muffins or cupcakes and our two muffin pans could go. Then I thought two bread/meatloaf pans could i, he was cool getting rid of one. Then I went to the bar cabinet and found a wooden thingamajig you can use to hold up a wine bottle so it's suspended sideways in midair. The wood is pretty but we don't fully trust it so we don't use it, so I decided it's servingware for wine bottles and it counts for today, so out it went. Then hubby and I went through wine charms and picked our least favorite two! Whew, made it just in time.
I cook and bake a LOT so I do use everything within a year but it is very easy to overkeep. Luckily I declutter the kitchen regularly so I can bake and cook all the time ☺️
I do a lot of baking so I need lots of cookie sheets and I’m baking big batches of bread so I have lots of stuff. But one thing I learned was to have them the same size to stack them nicely. That way I can have more dishes but I don’t use up more space
That chocolate fountain story is hilarious!!!
I just donated 7 boxes of stuff I decluttered over the last 3 weeks!! It feels great to let things go!

Plus pie baking dishes...I've Never made a pie and when my husband does it's to take so he uses throw away pans. It's time for all of that to go! We do have several parties a year so, keeping the punch bowl and drink dispensers.
Love love love these challenges. You are helping me get rid of so much. I’m really hoping you do a new months worth next month.
Another funny story Cas - love your stories at the end. You are so relatable and a fun person. You have an amazing day Cas.
Thanks Cas.
Loved the chocolate fountain story! So funny! If I am down I always get a lift by one of your stories.
I found 15 items . I know I have more I can let go. I will when holidays are over. I will let go of what I am not using.
That’s the day I’m going to skip ! Serving dishes bring me joy and I love to change which one I use
That's fun!!
😆
Yeah already did this one! And I have never even went back looking for those things I got rid of. Come on , everyone! You can do this. I’ll sit back and enjoy watching today though.
I already have minimal baking/serving stuff, so I'm looking at chopping boards, trays, measuring jugs etc. today 😊
Don't miss the end.
@@MsFoxy-bo4uc good for her for USING IT. No unburned candles tho I've been known to burn them so I CAN throw them out. Silliness.
@@MsFoxy-bo4uc agree, now when I have difficult time parting with some things I just think of the joy it may bring to someone else. Win-win 👍
Lol.
Thanks for sharing!!
This is an easy day for me because I have already purged many of the these items. Thanks, Cas.
Glad we are still in kitchen got behind did the all day declutter it was awesome!!
I’m late to the party but still going…. 5 mins is easy! Thanks Cass!
I would love to have a conversation on getting rid of things that we believe have a value and that is why we hold onto it because at some point we’re going to sell it to make our money back. I know that I can’t be the only one stuck in this cycle.
CHOCOLATE EXPLOSION 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤Needed that laugh🎉🎉🎉
Never heard that story and i feel i have watched every video since Malitose79 so its good to repeat them. Hysterical story 🤣
Yay! You're free of the chocolate fountain😆
GO you, Cass!! I'm so proud of how much we've accomplished... being able to let go of what we don’t use even when it's still in good shape or um.."Pretty!" This made me happy to see how you think like I do on these things when others might tell me, "but ✋️ wait! That cake server is pretty.."LOL "I do not need more friends, no more!!"
Keep the Pyrex and through the anchor one out.
Yes!! I love my handful of pyrex glass baking dishes and tins, and they last DECADES! Not sure if Anchor brand has a similar lifetime guarantee?
Exactly what I was going to say!
@@njmaryannez true
I already did this one! It felt great to get these out of my cabinets!
Wonderful!
Cas! You need to write a book! The stories you have are epic! I read a book called Let's pretend this never happened. It reminds me of your stories. Short and true and funny.
I dreaded this day but found 11 pots etc that surprisingly are easy to get rid of. They are going to my son for one of his rental properties.
Just found your channel....... have to start decluttering my kitchen with plastic containers.....ooh my. !!!
Welcome!
I have a punch bowl. We use it for every major holiday!
I just gave away a platter recently. I am happy with my baking dishes because I bake and cook all the time. I use and love many and have already recycled the gross cookie sheets 😂
I'm looking at all my other cooking tools today instead - cookie cutters, measuring jugs, cups & spoons, chopping boards etc. 😊
I'm really enjoying this series. Thank you!
If you declutter other spaces you will have more room for what you need more room for!!
Your new t shirts are great Cas. That colour is perfect on you! 😊
Thank you for this challenge. It has been very helpful and kept me from getting overwhelmed. I think I will repeat the challenge after the 30 days are over.
This is the best after story!!! Lol.
I literally had to stop washing dishes just to say this.
I got several serving platters in the 1980s when I married..they are all gone , almost! And 2 lasagna pans is definitely enough!
I got four more big boxes out of my storage and off to Goodwill for donation today!!!! And that wine opener makes me think of a certain lady only medical check up procedure
I love your end stories
I'm so glad!
Her stories at the end are what keep me watching; the girl is too funny.
I use a cookie sheet/jelly roll pan as a serving tray and I use a glass baking dish for cakes and brownies. I use storage bowls as serving bowls when needed.
Chocolate fountain is a great story! 💜
You can write a book on adventure in cass life 😂anyways i love love love your videos and i have been following you since ages ❤
I absolutely love the end stories!❤😂
I wouldlove pictures of the melted chocolate mess. Well picsof all your funny stores would be hilarious
Your story is soooo funny! I can totally imagine being there 😂
loved your end story! LOL!! :D
😂😂😂 The story! Yes, fondue is still popular. There's a sushi chain restaurant that I used to live close to that has a big ole chocolate fountain!
Funny enough. I have a punch bowl and just used it Saturday for my daughter’s birthday party. We host a ton, so we have a handful of serving dishes 😬 I just store them in my closet to save room in my kitchen for items I use more regularly.
Oh my giggles, the choco fountain story is hilarious, especially since I didn't have to clean it up.
Day 19. Woo Hoo. Getting rid of so much stuff. Thanks Cass😊❤
Great video, Cass💕💕
Glad you liked it!!
We had our kitchen cabinets redone about 4 years ago and I was ruthless cleaning out, and I've managed to keep it pretty good since then,
Your podcasts are sooooo useful! Thank you!
You're welcome!
Oh please, pretty please tell me you have pictures of the mess from the wedding shower somewhere in your memory box or digital photo collection! That's such a great story! ...and now I want chocolate. Thanks.
Not tough. Impossible. Lolol You’re really hitting a pain point but FINE!
Your stories are the BEST!
I cook and bake a LOT so I do use everything within a year but it is very easy to overkeep. Luckily I declutter the kitchen regularly so I can bake and cook all the time ☺️
This is a hard one. I don't have a lot to begin with, But I did part with a few old gems.
Day 19 in the bag ✅ ❤😊
Cass your stories at the end ARE THE BEST 😂😂😂😂😂
🤭
The chocolate fountain has long been decluttered. Used it once, cleaning it was a nightmare. The story was great.
Cas, your flooring is beautiful
