We ran out of time for the pro tips I wanted to share...so I figured I'd type them out for good order!
#1 Plan for 5-20 minutes (or preferably less) per round.
#2 Have the doer write the process, even if that means using an interview.
#3 Have fresh eyes review the process. Ideally, a different human.
#4 Do it (or pretend to) to improve realism
#5 Prioritize ease of retrieval over ease of creation.
#6 Have one spot for your SOPs!
...if you'd like me to expand on these, let me know in a comment. I'd be happy to do a follow-up live (or something else fun!) to dive deeper if it's helpful. 🤗

This is so helpful. I've just been asked to create SOPs for a newer department, and have been struggling to find a template that's been easy to follow and easy to put together. The walkthrough at the end was the most helpful part

This was so helpful! I forget sometimes that creating SOPs is a process and once-and-done type task.

Yes! Creating the initial SOP is just the first step. It grows and evolves as people adjust and maybe even find better ways to do it! I'm glad this was helpful :)

    Thanks for all the videos,
    very informative..
    Need a small help -
How to know that the written SOP is too long and needs to broken into sub SOPs? (for e.g. a big SOP for recruitment could be broken into - SOP for identifying candidates + SOP for interviews + SOP for reference check + SOP for on boarding)

Quick question about the start, stop, and steps. Are the steps like the overall arching ideas you take to document the sops?
E.g. My SOP is How to write, schedule and publish content on social media
    Steps will be
Research content ideas using the template for a customers pain point
Write using Google doc and proofread with Grammarly
    Schedule in metricool
    Will that be correct?

Hey! That's a great start! As you do it you can break it down more as needed :)

Okay so if I was the person creating the SOP's for the client and I have just completed the first step. Waiting out to start the second step will delay the turnaround time. What do you suggest as best practice?

      Excellent question!
The SOP is the recipe for a successfully completed process.
If you have a process where multiple people are responsible for different steps, I recommend breaking out the process into tasks and setting the Due dates for each record based on the average turnaround time.

At 6.13 minutes, what software are using that popped up in the background? Probably be useful to mention this
